Mystic Spiral [MYST] is a long-running, community based guild that has been active in the Guild Wars franchise since 2006. We are currently building up strength for new adventures in Heart of Thorns and are looking for those with bravery, cunning and a good sense of mischief to help us on our way…

We believe that gaming is as social as you decide to make it and, so, we encourage everyone to contribute their bit to our little community; there is always room for individual talents, interests and expertise within our guild. Above all, however, we are friends playing games together so we specifically look for new members with the same sociable and friendly attitude as us, rather than focusing on age or game experience.

The majority prefer to play PvE in Guild Wars 2, with some casual WvW and PvP.

Our home world is Aurora Glade, EU, and our primary language is English. Most of our members are European but events are held to accommodate members from various timezones. Currently we have about 50 active members.

We have all guild bonuses unlocked and run a full set of missions on Sundays at 11am UTC. There are also events at other times inside and out of Guild Wars 2. We also play a variety of other games together, including nightly matches of DOTA2 or Heroes of the Storm, and Dungeons and Dragons twice a week.

MYST started in 2006 as a Guild Wars guild and has since then branched into other games such as DOTA 2 and of course Guild Wars 2. We’re looking to add some fresh blood to our roster, and that’s why we need you! Aside from that, we also play various other games, so you’ll most likely always have people to play with, even when taking a small break from Guild Wars 2. The majority of our members are based in Europe, but we have various members from the US and Asia, and we’re always looking to bolster our numbers in those timezones. Most events are held to accommodate members from various timezones. Age is not an issue if you have the right attitude.

From 10am GMT on 22nd December members of our gaming community, Mystic Spiral [MYST], will be playing Guild Wars 2 and DOTA2 for 24 hours to raise money for Child’s Play. We’ll be pitting our wits against the games and each other, knocking up at least 200 hours of gaming between our members in our first ever charity game-a-thon.

We’ve also secured some great prizes for donators thanks to the generosity of our members and ArenaNet who sent us a bunch of goodies, including a copy of Guild Wars 2, t-shirts, books, mouse pad and more.

Why?

Because after 6 years of gaming together it is time for us to come together to do something that has wide ranging positive effects. We’ve had some involvement in events like Pink Day in LA, but this will be our first time attempting something on our own. And since our community is built around gaming, a game-a-thon is a natural step.

We’re raising money for Child’s Play because of the wonderful work they do improving the lives of children in hospitals worldwide. By supplying hospitals with age appropriate gaming equipment, they allow children to take a break from the reality of their situation through a medium that we all enjoy on a daily basis.

We’re hoping to raise at least £1337 and with your help we’ll get there!

What we’ll be doing and when

From 10 am on 22nd December until 10am on 23rd December we’ll be playing Guild Wars and DOTA2, clocking up over 200 hours of gaming between 11 of our members. In Guild Wars 2 we’ll cover nearly every aspect of the game, showing off (or failing at) dungeons, WvW, world bosses, jumping puzzles, sPvP, Wintersday and much more besides. There’s a full schedule of what content we’ll be doing when on our website.

You’ll be able to keep up with the action on our website through 3 live streams and on Twitter. You’ll also be able to vote on what we do in game and there will be opportunities for people to join our parties live.

And of course we have our prize draws and give-aways. Donating $10 or more will enter you into prize draws (there are 3 different pools of prizes) and tune in for more live give-aways for both games. More details are available on our website.
