Yet another idea on how to fix Mirage

Mirage introducing 3 mechanics to Mesmer;

- Mirage Cloak
- Ambush
- Mirage Mirror

I think that one way of making Mirage interesting and fun would be to borrow a bit from how the Holosmith trait lines work and make each of the trait lines vertical, and have each vertical line changes how the 3 new mechanics above works.

Most of the weapon skills and abilities I would leave as they are (do some adjusting to the numbers so they are balanced), but add I would add a Mirage Mirror too all of the basic Deception utilities since that is the core mechanic of Mirage and is what is going to make the worth using.

Here is an example idea of how to make Mirage Cloak, Ambushes and Mirage Mirrors fun, integrate with existing mechanics and still worth using:

Minor Mirage Cloak:
Gain Mirage Cloak instead of dodge rolling and gain Superspeed when you gain Mirage Cloak.
Major Mirage Cloak:
Gaining mirage cloak reduces the recharge of axe and desception skills by 2 seconds
Major Mirage Cloak:
Gaining mirage cloak breaks stun and convert 1 condition into a boon
Major Mirage Cloak:
When you gain mirage cloaks use Sand Shards. Conditions applied to bleeding foes have increased duration.

Minor Ambush:
Ambush skills become available for a short time (2 sec) whenever you gain Mirage Cloak, for you and your clones
Major Ambush:
When making an ambush attack each phantasm is split into 2 clones that each makes an ambush attacks, if there are more than 3 clones after the ambush then any excess clones is destroyed
Major Ambush:
Illusions’ actions are interrupted when they change focus to the targeted foe, reduce attack cooldown of any phantasm by 4 seconds
Major Ambush:
When entering combat, your first Ambush attack applies torment and confusion. This ability refreshes when you use a Shatter skill

Minor Mirror:
Mirage mirror gives vigor. All shatter skills activates all mirage mirros with in 1200 – activating multiple mirage mirrors at once applies mirage cloak once
Major Mirror:
Mirage mirrors last for 10 seconds. When being activated via a shatter skill all active mirrors also adds that shatter effect at the mirror it self. (Mirage mirrors can only hit the same target once)
Major Mirror:
Activating a mirage mirror also spawns a clone and gives all clones super speed for 4 seconds
Major Mirror:
Grants 1 second of stealth and a random boon

Liked it a lot but there are some bugs

- Pet swapping should be possible in beastmode

Mirage
Feels clunky and underpowered and not worth it

- Mirage Mirrors needs something to make the worth the risk of going back to them, and make all the utilities skill 100% worthless
- Ambush windows is too short and does nothing for phantasms
- Ambush skills is under powered (perhaps except of scepter)
- Needs better clone generation / some kind of scatter synergy

I gambled for quite a lot, started with 1600G and a bit over 500 ecto and ended at 950G but did gain over 250 ecto’s. So you can also loose a lot

Just get this implemented, it is so insanly annoying having to go through 2 webpages to find the kitten item code, paste into say just to see what item looks like.

Based on what you was said here I tried to put 20 points into dueling and get Sharper Images and Deceptive Evasion and I must admit that it made a world of change to the class and makes it very enjoyable.

But the last 10 levels to 40 is very annoying and slow, and I must admit that the last 3 levels was done with crafting because it was just too slow doing normal PvE content.

From what I read here is we can run and kite for hours, and take on elites without problems if you have an hour to take them down. The problem is that the other classes can do the same in seconds, my necro and AoE entire pacts in seconds including bronze elites. The elementalist can do the same if goes on a rotation with his attunements, the Guardian can just stand there and take the hits and wipe the mobs out without breaking a sweat, the warrior and thief has DPS that make the examples I just gave a joke.

Is it possible to overcome the challenges with the Mesmer, sure, but it just takes 3-4 times as long as any other class.

I have played all the classes in the game, a necro to 80, elementalist, guardian and Mesmer to about level 40 and the rest about level 20 and Mesmer just plain suck in PvE compared to any of the other classes.

Since i did my Mesmer last it is with good gear, upgrades and etc. all through the leveling so far. The DPS is so low that even regular mob that the other classes 1-2 shot, with just the primary #1 skill becomes an entire fight in itself when doing it with the Mesmer and that is with scattering of the clones, if they are alive, when the mob is low on health.

The mesmer two main problems is:
– the low DPS without atleast one or two phantasmal up (which takes time and cooldowns)
– the phantasmals and clones can get one shot by anything, this means if there are many mobs you cannot get any phantasmals up and running OR and this is where it gets really bad, if there is any aoe from the mobs all your phantasmals just dies.

Those who things means that in so many fights the main damage output is just close to nothing.

The Mesmer is IMHO completly broken in PvE in a very bad way. The main problem is the phantasmals can be killed so easily, if they where invulnerable or the same health as the Mesmer it could help a bit.

It seems that all the transport missions gets bugged after short while, on our server so once we reach evening all the events is bugged and cannot be completet.
