yay, after todays patch i had faith… Logged in and checked things out. First run of the day i cleared through CoF path 2 (Not without incident). Got my 60 Tokens, was pleased. After that the group disbanned, got another grp… tried again. epic fail after epic fail after epic fail (Bomb Door Room.. /sigh) they left, Guess what NO TOKENS since yall decided to only award em at the end. Ok, shook it off and got another grp.. Tried path 1, epic fail after epic fail.. No tokens after an hour of .. gave up, now ive had 20silver in repairs and no silver in rewards and no tokens after playing the past 4 hours.. Guess its back to logging off for another week or 2 like i did last time.. Anet come on :P

LOL, my favorite thing about the “80 things to do at level 80” is

“Make another character to experience a new race / play style”

Wow, made this topic earlier, didnt think it would get any attention, was more venting my opinion than anything.

Great, thanks for being 10 years old. was simply pointing out some of the excuses people are using to defend the game and push their opinions onto others. Im not telling anyone to quit nor do i support people quitting. I want to see the game better so i have something to do!

My fun level pre-dungeon patch – probably a 8 out of 10.
now, -3 outta 10.

I have not logged on in days. I scan the forums seeing if some of the more prominent bugs have been fixed, when i see they haven’t i log off forums and shut down my computer. Rinse and Repeat maybe 2 times a day?

To either the effect of

1) Im still playing and this (SITE EXAMPLE) is why.
2) Im not playing and this (SITE EXAMPLE) is why.

Complaining and offering reason as to why are not good ideas, gives the company no way of knowing what direction to move.

i dont play cause it isnt fun. Dungeons are to difficult for minimal rewards.
Defense to this: “Oh they are fixing the rewards system”
well in all actuality, it was bad before the patch, patch just axe to the faced it.
THAT IS MY OPINION.

token system is ridiculous, a million tokens (yes i exaggerated) for a piece of gear, not fun! I love working for stuff, but in a fun way. When i get off work and have to come home to “work” not fun

Make it fun to get the tokens if you want it to be 1800 for a set.

Anyways, just my 2 cents.

Just curious if anyone out there has either

A) found the forums more entertaining as of late.
B) flat out quit playing.

I have not logged in for a couple days as it proves difficult to even play the game. Mostly due to not being able to run dungeons due to several things…

1) being not being able to find grps
2) not being able to complete a good majority of them upon finding a grp due to their difficulty.

To all the “fanboys”
~ i don’t honestly care if you can clear the content, some of us can’t and it is very frustrating.
~ I don’t honestly care about previous Guild Wars games and how the content was nor how much of a grind it was for some of the gear there.

^ both topics cleared, seems those are the most defense i have seen from most of the “fanboys” out there (usually falls into 1 of those 2 categories)

Afflaq, i see your point, but at the same time its wrong.

Honestly when i was leveling up i heard things about AC and it being just a money sink. I was like Nah yall just to n00b to do it, with an elitest mentality. Got in there and sure enough, it was pretty difficult even for a skilled grp to accomplish.

Im defiantly the first person to ask if you want someone to work for there shiny stuff. I don’t mind a grind or even a little bit of difficulty. But honestly with this many people complaining you cant help but wonder if maybe it is a little to much. some of this stuff is a bit overwhelming in my opinion. I mean if you really think about it, grinding out your gear by doing 70 runs of the same dungeon is pretty serious. Who cares if it took 10 minutes to do 1 run? thats still 70 runs and to some that is a great deal of time invested. Its their play style, not yours.

This game does need to appeal to the masses, because if it appealed to just the minority then the game wouldn’t last and the company would be broke.

All im saying is…. i see a lot of smoke coming from the Dungeons thread in the forums. Will i say there is a fire? It is definitely quite possible!

Just got infracted for posting a link to a blog post from one of the creators about how this game wont be a grind and things of that nature. And pointed out the fact that everything he said had to have been a complete fabrication because non of what he said is true.

Was told that my post was a “staff call-out”

NO JOKE! it supposed to be, your so called “STAFF” isn’t living up to what they promised.

Example:

NASA says “we will go to mars with a rover” and they don’t deliver..

They will get called out right? OF COURSE. Didn’t live up to their promise, must as you have not in your game!

Don’t want to get called out, don’t promise things and fail to deliver!

With that straw i have NOW officially quit playing GW2.

Hope your game finishes sinking and you some how some way get sued Lol….

And Yes, i know this topic has been beaten to death, but i want my 2 cents out there just as everyone else does.

The gaming term GRIND:
Grind – Repeating the same act to achieve a goal.

Example of GRINDING:
Player 1: Hey man, that armor set is 1800 tokens and I want it!
Player 2: Cool, lets run this dungeon 70+ times so you can get it!

Blog from Colin Johanson (Lead Content Dev) about how its not about the grind nor shall it not be fun, and how you have the OPTION to upgrade to this gear that statwise is no better then other gear.

That being said! if its an OPTION for me to get the gear, why can’t i do it at a faster pace without wiping inconstantly? (which is NO FUN)

That’s all I have to say,

Do i agree that the dungeons should be hard?
Yes.

Did i get to grind out a full set of gear before patch?
NO (I did get the helmet though)

Do i wish i did?
Hell Ya, it was a lot more fun than wiping and it seemed to be rewarding!

What is my fix for this?
Just an innocent players opinion here but here goes:

1) Make the Dungeons hard. Not so hard that a fresh lvl 80 can’t do it (Which you should test to make sure they can)

2) Put the $$ Reward for completion back up, nobody runs the dungeons to grind the XP once your 80. Its our ONLY real stable form of incoming guys.

3) Lower the price on the gear, i would say by about HALF of what they currently are.
Makes the game rewarding and wouldn’t feel as much of a grind since you don’t need 1800 tokens

4) In the END, after a couple of months maybe, release a Hardmode of EACH of the dungeons. Which offers new (or pre-exsisting) exotics. Each run will drop one at the end. ANY Exotic. Make it feel rewarding and worth our time.

Just my 2 Cents.

Make this game fun Anet! I have faith in you. You were quick to “fix” a “problem” that you saw. Now lets fine tune this disaster and move forward.

A player that might leave if stuff don’t change.

Doesn’t get better at 80. The only enjoyment i had was grinding out my gear. Oh did i say grinding? Yes, Yes i did.. In a game that SWORE it wouldn’t be a grinder

But i still enjoyed the grind in the so-called “Speed runs” Even though in a game that has QUICKLY lost my interest (after patch) wasn’t all that speedy, i felt fulfilled after the runs and slightly accomplished that that was 1 run out of 100 that i had to do.

Did i mention the grind? Now its only worse and not worth the challenge, the loot is no good and the money to compensate for the wipes leaves you OWING the dungeon money I think the IRS took over Anet.

Was sitting in the living room with my wife trying to explain how they “fixed” the dungeon, only to come up with the following example for my wife to understand (she knows nothing of games, or computers in general)

The following is what I told her:

Baby your sitting in the Dining Room, i’m in the Living room (holding a coke in my hand) i told her to pretend she wanted the coke REALLY bad! I told her to walk to me and she could have it.

Then i said “thats how it was.. easy no fuss..” told her to go sit back down.

Next round i poured out half the coke (into my glass) and pulled all the furniture to the center of the house (blocking the passage between us) and said, Now come here and get HALF this coke… She started walking and i said, by the way .. the floor is on fire…

Asked her if the half coke was worth the extra struggle.. She said no.. ill go get one from the fridge. Well we dont have anymore cokes only Dr. Pepper. (Flame Legion armor as opposed to Arah armor)

Well i want me somekittenflame legion armor! give me my coke without walking across a fire infested floor!
