These are the BiS trinkets which allow you to choose the stats that you want. I’d say that the amount of grind for them is reasonable and you can get a set almost every 30 days from just gathering from the home instance nodes.
Depending on the number of characters that you have, you can get them in a matters of days by doing the hearts and map bosses. Bloodstone Fen will still be slow.
According to my calculations, it’s more like 1.5 to 2 months ish for a set of trinkets from nodes alone, which is unfortunate . But the problem is that the grind is… well… boring. I agree that the amount of time is very reasonable, but it’s just extremely mindless and uninteresting. But that’s just my two cents.

Hi guys! So, I know that in any mmo, there is going to be some degree of grind, but I was wondering if anet has said anything about making the grind for trinkets a bit better. I mean, yes, it doesn’t take as long as other grinds in the game, but it seems to be one of the farms in the game that a large amount of players dread.
Personally, I’m a fan of the old philosophy of “play how you want”, so I was thinking perhaps adding the ability to exchange pristine fractal relics for Living World Season 3 trinkets for maps that you own would be a pretty interesting idea to help reduce the grind for PvE players, because PvP and WvW players can exchange tokens for trinkets already.
What do you guys think?
Hello! I’d be interested in joining! Do you guys have discord or some other voice chat service?
I have two interesting quality of life suggestions for crafting that I got from talking to a couple of friends. What do you guys think of:
- Allowing players to “favorite” crafting recipes for quick access.
- Making the “Craft All” button craft the entire stack at the same time (maybe add an “Are you sure?” warning too)

Thanks for the advice everyone! I’ll try a little of all of it!
I hope this has been helpful to you! Also, if you have any questions or want any clarification, feel free to message or whisper me in game!
This actually cleared up a lot of my questions and is beyond helpful, thanks so much!! Expect a few messages from me in the future
Sweet! Glad I could help!
Q1 - Either the dummies or the level 80 boost trial are best. Entering a pvp match without a feel for the class will probably cause some frustration for you. Note that having a dps character is important for clearing dungeons and fractals, so pick a profession that has a dps rotation that feels easy to you.
Also, if you need help with “What gear, weapons, stats, utility skills should I take?” I would recommend metabattle.com which has guides on all professions.
Q2 - The most important thing is to stay calm. Take one thing at a time, as you need them.
Your Elite spec is key for most classes, so that is important to function well with your class. I would also grind gold or dungeon tokens for damage oriented exotic gear (the level 80 boost gives you more defensive gear). Usually the best Damage gear is Berserker’s stats (Power > Precision = Ferocity). Then I would work on masteries and getting ascended gear (the best gear in the game, equivalent to legendaries) at the same time, at your pace.
Ascended Armor and weapons can be acquired from crafting or random drops from certain activities (especially daily fractals). The trinkets are obtained in various ways including from the new Living World Season 3 maps. If you decide to get ascended armor, I would start with trinkets first, as they are usually the easiest. The armor and weapons are mainly acquired through crafting which requires quite a bit of gold, so I would look up ways to farm gold, as the current “best” way to farm gold changes. The Guild Wars Wiki is a fantastic resource to help you find information on acquiring ascended gear.
Also, keep in mind that ascended gear is required to climb fractals (dungeons with tiers), which offer great rewards. But before you get into fractals, you should look up agony resistance in the wiki because after fractal scale 20, agony will start being applied to you and kill you quickly.
Q3 - At the top of the screen in the pvp “lobby”, there is a button that you can click that opens a menu for you to select amulets which act as your “pvp gear”. The gear you are wearing on your character is irrelevant in pvp because the devs want everyone on a level playing field, only the amulet, sigils, and runes you select through this pvp menu count towards your stats. Also, the type of weapon you are holding determines the 1-5 skills you will have.
(Please note… WvW, however, uses the gear you are wearing, not amulets.)
Q4 - Dungeons are dead content unfortunately. And dungeons are instanced 5 man content where you and 4 other people go through a short story and earn some loot at the end. It has it’s own achievement rewards and that give you a boost in gold, but ultimately, dungeons aren’t sought out by many players anymore. Fractals however, are basically the same thing but with scaling difficulty, better rewards (especially at higher tiers), and only for level 80 characters. Some fractal groups choose to use a healer to help them survive at higher tiers, but there is no tank (person who takes mob aggro) because the bosses attack everyone. Raids on the other hand are extremely hard content designed for 10 players. It has complicated mechanics and pretty much requires so much coordination that you must speak to your group over voice chat. Raids give very good rewards like legendary insights which I won’t get into right now, but they are only for people who put a LOT of time into this game. Raid groups also generally have the traditional healer and tank to support the team. Though in some instances one or the other is not required.
I hope this has been helpful to you! Also, if you have any questions or want any clarification, feel free to message or whisper me in game!

Hey everyone. So I’m kind of stuck in the game in the sense that I’m not sure what I should be doing anymore. I’ve seen almost all the content, got fully geared in ascendeds on 4 characters, got a few legendaries, and all I’m left with to try is raids. However, I find myself having some major issues with the raiding scene of GW2. Issues such as elitism (people only wanting exp players), extreme meta changes to keep up with, and anxiety. I’ve tried joining “learning groups” for raids, but all of them that I have joined have never downed a single boss, so I’m not sure I should keep trying with them. To be clear, this is not to say “Raids are unplayable, Anet plz fix”, I’m just saying this stuff to illustrate why I personally can not thrive in the raiding scene right now.
Any suggestions to help me get over my raiding issues or things I can do outside of raids?
Looking forward to reading your thoughts!
Side Note – I do read guides and watch videos on how to down the raid bosses before I take them on, but I’m not sure if it’s enough for me to join an “exp” group.
Here is a tip that I used when completing this collection. I only did the collection on days that the instance was in the rotation.
Usually once people were already in the instance, most never seemed to care if I activated challenge mote or not, so long as I asked and explained what it was beforehand for those that didn’t know.
That’s a good tip! I only gotta do the Aetherblade challenge mote and then I’m done. So maybe I’ll just wait for an Aetherblade day.
I have to say, the hardest part about the Ad Infinitium collections were not the content themselves, but actually finding groups willing to do challenge motes.
Today, I waited almost one and a half hours to get a group together that would do the fractal with me.
Is anyone else having this problem?
Perhaps the devs should add some sort of incentive for players to do challenge motes more than once like weekly achievements for challenge motes or something.
challenging content like fractals
Lol
eh
You get truckloads from dungeons… I’m constantly tossing them because the star can’t eat fast enough.
Yeaaaaa. But dungeons are way to easy… and as the game devs stated… Dungeons aren’t supposed to be part of the “end game”… fractals and raids are.
I have more empyreal fragments from wvw than I could ever need, are drop rates really that low in fractals?
While we’re at it, can we buy mystic coins using fractal relics?
Fractals empyreal drop rates are really really really low. You can only get them from encryptions, which already treat them as a rare drop. They removed them from the daily chest. However you can get them from the volcanic shaman mini boss, and even then it’s only 7 to 9 fragments.
Honestly, I believe that Guild Wars 2 would benefit from making ascended crafting more about challenging content like fractals and less about back-tracking to easy, mindless content like dungeons/chest farm.
Allowing players to exchange fractal relics for empyreal fragments would be beneficial for the overall health of the game because it gives serious players an outlet to actually enjoy the game and do their ascended crafting at the same time.
Well there is the fractal reliquary.
I thought that didn’t give empyreal, bloodstone, or dragonite?
Long standing complaint that you have to leave fractals to gear up for fractals, so yeah I’d like this.
I agree! It’s quite silly especially considering other pve content gives empyreal fragments!
As someone who has done hundreds (maybe thousands) of fractals, I can say the 15 fragments, dragonite, and bloodstone you get from encryptions every now and then is simply not enough.

Hello everyone, as someone who loves fractals and has reached level 90 in my personal fractal level, I just wanted to bring something up that I think would benefit the game a little bit.
Basically, I believe the game would benefit from letting us exchange our excess fractal relics for extra empyreal fragments (and maybe dragonite ore and piles of bloodstone dust).
I know most people are going to say “Just farm silverwastes chest train”, but some people, including myself, don’t find silverwastes to be fun.
Let me know what you guys think!

That would be a massive increase in the drop rate of ascended gear in fractals, especially for lower tiers. It ignores all the other drops and coin gains that can be used to purchase ascended gear. Those who play the game for 300+ days have up to 600g from dailies alone, which is enough to buy the mats for six pieces of Zojja’s armor.
I’d like to see all armor drops changes to [Prefix] Box of Armor, instead of location-specific pieces — that would prevent us from dealing with having three shoulders, 2 boots, two gloves, and no legs or coat. However, I think the drops are pretty substantial already and don’t need to change.
That’s true, but I was thinking that if a system like that were to be introduced, then the drop rates would be reduced to a degree that offsets this. The system would eliminate randomness, but make getting ascended equally as difficult as the old random drop system. My numbers are probably off, but I just used them as an example.
I think this would be great, specifically for players who are stuck in the limbo of “I need ascended armor to progress in fractals but can’t get ascended armor to drop cuz I can’t progress in fractals” which seems fairly common.
As someone who always receives Ascended Chest Armor boxes and never any boxes of gear-types I actually need, I definitely support the ability to choose something.
It would also really help reduce the huge level of price-bloat with ascended armor crafting costs.
My concern:
The prices should not be the same for each item considering that there are different stat gains associated with each one. A good model to follow would be the relevant Magnetite Shard costs (i.e. off hand weapons cost less than 2 hand weapons, boots cost less than chestpieces)
Ah, that’s true! Maybe something like 150 for Chest, 90 for gloves/boots/helm, 110 for shoulders, 120 for pants, 70 for 1h weapons, 140 for 2h weapons.
