@Knighthonor, at the moment, in this league, if one of your party members disconnects for any reason, your entire team is marked with this thing called “desertion”. Desertion is a function that makes it so that if a team is losing they cant just have someone drop to avoid lowering their mmr.

To me, as a software developer, that is an ok deterrent. However, a case statement should be added that says if the team has someone drop, but still wins, “Desertion” should be cleared.

Yeh, I caught that unbentMars. Heres the highlights (should probably start a new thread for this)

- Toughness scaling: Good stuff, all builds being viable is good, less time to kill bosses, good

- Money increase: Sounds good, the money was low. Not awful low so it shouldnt take to much of an increase to put it in a good spot.

- Ascended drop increase: This sounds good on paper. Problem is we dont know how much of an increase. From community response, and the fact that were getting raids leads me to believe we wont be seeing the 10% chance we had before which leaves me with a bad feeling and since this was the most important part to me, sours the whole thing for me. I have a bad feeling of forboding. Anyway, Im sure others feel different. Also where they say the emphasis on ascended armor at higher levels should not be read as your chance to get a drop increases at higher levels; but instead should be read as, your chance to get ascended remains at 5% but your chance for the drop you got to be an armor drop is higher.

Things not addressed are: Same old crappy boss mechanics. No work is being done to update old fractals. Repetitive instabilities and bad instabilities; nothing is being done as yet about these. Broken collections, I assume these will be fixed but since no mention of them in the blog post I could get my self in trouble with those assumptions. And worst of all, no addition of a daily 75 to 100 fractal; holy crap how did they miss that.

Sorry this kinda devolved into a pessimistic out look for the update, but they make it so hard to be an optimist.

Mastery gates for raids?

So OP cant spend 2 hours to get the three masteries required for the story but thinks hell have the patience to raid; funniest thing i ever heard.

I dont know Yaki, Im not happy with them thats for sure. I started this thread cause I wanted Anet to see that even there long time players and respected community members are unhappy with them.

Sometimes I think they wait to see if its just entitled whining or if its a real legitimate problem. And with Brazil making a video out of it, I feel less like an entitled whiner. Anyway, when can we get our —-E and storm the castle?

Yeh, Im thinking that pretty soon the people who are somehow ok with the rewards, are going to have trouble finding groups, as the rest of us will have shipped off to other content or other games.

@Sarahfull, why do you enjoy buggy collections, and bosses with minimal mechanics? Did you watch the video? I think the parts you like about fractals are not discussed in the video.

Sarahfull missed the part where I and Brazil said rewards and instead focused on all the changes that fractals received.

Yes changes like making fractals into islands were positive. Its the rewards that suck.

Arena Net, please watch this video. This is how everyone feels about your fractals. Whats sad is every iteration you have done except one (the one that increased the drop rates after the fractured patch), for rewards, has been a step backwards. Why is this so hard to get right?

@Notsoperky what you say is true. I wanted to play herald but when they said 400 points, I knew then that it would be more enjoyable to play a character that had some hero points already. So when the day came I made a revenant but I chose to run through maps on my mezmer and I felt like I was working towards something that was obtainable.

Are a lot of people playing the expansion with characters that they did no map completion with? I do still have 4 characters with little to no map completion cause I leveled them through tomes and I am waiting till I have more masteries to run them through cause I know it will be super easy by then to get their elites.

I can see people who wanted to beat the story the first weekend like it was Archam Asylum or people who just had to have herald day one having the worst experience with this expansion.

let me quote myself, I know words are hard. “I have 10 toons by the way, 6 of which i had atleast 170 hero points on before the expansion started”

if you had a few hero points before the expansion dropped then you dont need to get all 40 from the maguma jungle

To answer your question though let me quote myself again "gliding and jumping mushrooms and updrafts ". Those 3 masteries alone were enough for me to get hero points spread across 3 maps to unlock my elite specs

Also if you come up just short of what you need cause of some mastery you dont wanna get like updrafts cause really i only needed updraft for like 5 of the hero points, then you can go to wvw to get those few you couldnt get without updrafts

Also theres guides on dulfy.com now if you are having trouble.

Though if your trying to finish the story, none of this will really help you.

I like, almost love the expansion. Lets see, gliding and jumping mushrooms and updrafts were the three masteries that I felt were really gating me and that took me about 5 hours of casual playing to unlock. I guess my main goal for the game was to play all my elite specs (I have 10 toons by the way, 6 of which i had atleast 170 hero points on before the expansion started.)

So I went about getting mastery experience by trying to get all the hero points in verdant brink. That was what day one was really all about. I can now easily get 10/11 in that zone. My first character took 2 days to unlock his elite spec totally. That was about 10 hours of playing. Again casually playing cause I stopped to play events and glide and explore. My next character only took me 2 hours to go from 170 hero points to 400 cause Im now pro at getting the hero points.

2 hours to unlock an elite spec feels in no way grindy to me even if i need to do it 8 more times cause the events are fun and the classes and builds i play are varied enough to keep me entertained.

One possibly big caveat. I havnt done any of the story. Ive heard that you need itzel poison unlocked to progress the story and I dont have that mastery quite yet. I am close though and I am sure Ill have it by the time I get there because I heard story gets you exp and Im about to start training it after I do the speed mushroom training.

So maybe its a goals problem for some people. People that wanted to finish the story over the weekend. Me I dont care as much about the story, cause thats one and done. I care about the content we will be playing long after the story is over. And holy heck, the events in verdant brink at night, and the big meta in auric basin are both 10/10 for me. They are super fun. Also my elites are super fun. So yeh Id give this game a great review

Well it would Tamasan, but weve been down this road, alot sadly. They cant get it to reliably put you into matches with a variety of classes due to a variety of reasons such as people duo cueing with the same class, and high que times while waiting for said variety to become available.

Im in the let us switch camp. It stinks to be the 3rd ranger on a team that has 2 already. So not only are there times when you look at the other teams comp and decide you want to play a more competitive class but there are also times when you look at your team and go, hmmm, we could use some variety.

Warrior Torch Hype (Discuss!)

in Warrior

I think torch fits the warrior perfectly, and from the sound of it, the elite spec will be good. This game needs something to kill the pirate ship meta in wvw and bring back the melee trains and this may be the spec to do it.

Also, I cant remember where I read it, but I believe warrior is going to get a break bar as part of its mechanic. Anyway, I have big hopes for WVW.

Im deffinitly not worried about PvE since warrior already stacks on bosses in dungeons does that just fine and does so with a couple of different builds. And they do fine in open world too.

Beta Rev Feedback

Hi, this feedback is specifically for the ventari legend

TLDR; was kinda fun, but people die so fast its hard to keep them alive

This beta weekend I went back to the same build I tried last test. I had ventari and jalis for my legends, I used cleric gear with water runes. Retrobution, Salvation, Invocation for my trait lines. I’ve got 16k achievment points and have played gw2 since 2012 so while I may not be super elite, I would definitely consider myself to be average.

This weekend was a definite improvement over the last. Weapon swapping helped alot with this as I was able to use a hammer for ranged attacking as well as staff for when I wanted to go in and burst heal. I was testing this character in the verdant brink. I felt using jalis to provide the stone skin of the elite and the swiftness and stability was nice, and the projectile destruction from the tablet came in handy several times.

But I was trying to keep my girl friend alive who was in knights gear on another revenant playing with the hammer and swords. Now admittedly, we were not playing at the top of our game, and I dont have the combos down perfect, but having to spawn the tablet after swapping to the legend felt a bit clunky. also the cooldown after moving it before you could move it again felt just a bit too long. That and stuff just burst her down real fast, which is probably more of a learn to play issue on our part, but I just felt that even when i was focusing on her I couldnt keep her alive with heals alone. Maybe if regeneration which is such a focus of the tablet were a little stronger. Thats, of course, not really a revenant specific thing more of a game buff thing.

Bottom line, I did better job of supporting her when I made a zerk chronomancer, and just blew up the enimies she was fighting. Take all of this with a grain of salt, and this might work better had I been supporting a real tank in nomad gear, but so far, I dont think healing is the most optimal way to aide your allies.

Anybody else have any thoughts on this. I hope this was constructive, and Id like to keep it that way
