Has anyone noticed that gw2 seems to rely much more on the CPU than the GPU? Are you noticing a lack of multi-core utilization? Wish gw2 could run a bit better? There is an answer to these questions…
Vote for DirectX12 support!
Too long has gw2 been confined to the ancient limitations of dx9. It is time to make your voice heard! If ANET were to rewrite gw2 in dx12, we would see massive performance gains! Why confine the game to a single core when we can use all the cores? Dx12 has massive gains over dx11, imagine what the gain over dx9 would be!
I want to see the marvelous world that ANET has sculpted better than ever before. I want to be able to use the full power of my system to make it sharp as it can be.

Please post the output txt file of the following command for analysis:

netstat -ano > userprofile\Desktop\NetStat.txt && notepad userprofile\Desktop\NetStat.txt

Copy and paste the info from the notepad… don’t attach the file or anything like that. If the output is too long to post, use pastebin or something similar.

AB chests do not drop any raw gold. The only way it introduces gold is if someone vendors stuff, which as you said does not happen often.

They are guilty by association. The myriad of bags you get out of the chests do often drop a couple silver each.

And, I vendor a ton of stuff when I loot after Octovine… most notably trophies (that come out of bags) and the many minor sigils/runes I get from salvage. Vendor trash contributes a lot more to new gold than many people seem to think.

Ah. Forgot about the bags, and I don’t get too many minors due to forging greens. I still believe that the amount of raw gold removed from TP tax more than makes up for the small amount of raw gold earned from the event.

New Font/Larger Nameplates

You can hide nameplates if you don’t like them clustering your screen. I do this with player names due to being a big event commander.

I hope everyone knew that this would be a lot of work to rewrite the engine when we started this discussion, I assumed that was common knowledge. I think that it is, in spite of the effort required, the right thing to do if the devs want this game to last a lot longer. This doesn’t need to stop at dx12 either. Objects aren’t thread-safe? Well then rewrite them to support multithreading!

I will admit, I did not know the render thread was not the typical bottleneck with gw2. So perhaps this dx12 discussion is outdated. I apologize. The fact still stands that gw2 needs optimization if it is going to last another few years with this size playerbase. And to be honest, I hope it does. I would like to be able to finish off all the dragons before we get a gw3 (or, god forbid, anet/ncsoft give up the franchise as a lost cause).

Why does swiftness exist?

Ok, let’s make one thing clear. Swiftness is NOT used exclusively in moving around the map. Swiftness has a viable combat use too – getting out of attacks w/o dodging. If we increase the base movement speed, we will have to increase attack speed too. My reaction speed already makes some parts of gw2 tough, I don’t need every boss fight to become 2x harder, thanks.

“My other problem is that if +25% swiftness is standard, people will still demand for more once they are used to it.”
^ this. The cup you are trying to fill has no bottom. You are just going to keep wanting to go faster and faster until you can’t even do JPs anymore because you overshoot everything. Just get used to using waypoints (you’re reducing inflation!) or enjoy the scenery for once.

Hello,

I often command multimap (some of you folks may know me as Naeea), and I wanted to drop my perspective on the matter.

For the commander of a MM squad at least, MultiMap is no easy matter. You have to explain the basic rules, lock maps if people start to flood towards them in the setup phase, find trustworthy lieutenants to help you, and much more, all while running. Oh and let’s not forget dealing with people chewing you out because they got kicked. So I think I can say that the amount of effort required, at least from the commander and lieutenants, is roughly equal to the reward. Any PvE commanding job is easier than AB MultiMap.

Despite the significantly increased level of effort, I continue to do the job, even though no one ever tips me. Why? Because it simply is the best farm in the game at the current time.

That being said, however, the profit per run is going to drop off sharply soon. Why? because the supply of ectos has, for the first time this year, bypassed the demand. You can see the chart here: https://www.gw2tp.com/item/19721-glob-of-ectoplasm
Since the AB farm relies heavily on ectos for its profit, this free-falling ecto price will deter people from joining. On the plus side, if you are crafting Ad Infinitum or something similar, 1k ectos won’t be as expensive anymore.

Anet likes to keep the economy under control. this downward spiral in ecto price certainly isn’t good for them, and they will fix it one way or another. What remains to be seen is how. Will they cripple AB MultiMap? Will they add another sink like the ecto gambling skritt? Or something else?

(Note: I expect ecto prices to keep falling for at least another week. Near the start of this year, 1 ecto = 37s. We are currently only @ 42s.)

Nethertheless, I know two things about this AB MultiMap:

1) No one is going to get banned for this. There is simply too large a player population doing this, as can be seen by the number of simultaneous MultiMap squads (Naeea, Django Unchained, Heascon, and many others), all full to the brim (50 players each).

2) No “fix” will occur for at least a week. So keep farming folks, and sell your ecto quick.
