What is the necromancer missing??

I have started using a necromancer and and after using the various weapons that are available to you, i came up with something that seems out of place to me. I am not sure if they are able to give classes more available weapons for use, but it seems to me that torches and necromancers would go hand-in-hand?
MAYBE that’s just my view of what a necromancer is, but i think it could be a really cool idea and could give some interesting abilities? Anybody else share similar views or agree?

Thematically, torches don’t fit the necromancer. If you think of them as a master of undead, a vampire, a lich, what have you, fire doesn’t mix with undead. cough Also, the light cuts through darkness and acts as a beacon of hope, and the necromancer will be having None of that.

I can give you a small list of what the necromancer is missing, weapon included.

1. The Scythe. The necromancer doesn’t have a cleaving melee weapon. This weapon fits there MO, and would be extremely fun to use.

2. Barbs. More specifically a barbs like effect. To better translate that I’m refering to what barbs did in GW1, not other games with a skill with the same name. Here is a link. http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Barbs

3. A vampirc aura. It would be nice if the Necormancer could apply a vampiric armor much like chaos armor but it would steal life for those under its effect. This would be a nice addition for parties and to add a little more incentive to go into the blood trait.

4. Disease. Disease was a fairly powerful DoT condition back in GW1. It was a 4 tick condition matching that of Poison that would spread itself to other creatures of the same type. In GW2 it would have to change a bit, making it only spread to foes and not allies as well as give it a damage in between the range of poison and burning as to make it noticeable but not too powerful. I would suggest it being 4x the strength of a single bleed and stacks in duration. But that is just me.

I still feel necros need a actual scythe as a weapon.

The solution to balancing is making every class overpowered lawl.

I like the idea of having more skills to choose from per weapon set. Plus you could unlock them by using the weapon even more. :P

This sounds much better than other suggestions on personal story repetition.

Back in the original Guild Wars, the Eye of the North was a large tower of unknown origin that gave visions to the player character of the Great Destroyer. In the game we could walk up to the Scrying Pool located in the second chamber of the tower in order to replay story missions from Guild Wars Beyond and retake repeatable primary quests that were completed once by the player.

ArenaNet probably has plans tied with the EotN in GW2, probably when Jormag is the next elder dragon to deal with, but the Eye of the North is still accessible in-game. All you have to do is travel to Lion’s Arch, buy a HoM teleportation stone, and double click to visit it. The stone has unlimited charges and costs no money or karma to obtain, this is content that’s already in the game.

So I was thinking maybe ArenaNet could tie all of our Personal Story missions together as replayable content once we’re finished with the final step in our personal story. The Scrying Pool in GW2 may be flooded, but I’m sure it may still work

Too long, didn’t read – slap a “replay” option into the EotN in GW2 for all the personal story missions

Very, very good post.
Seeing how this is currently an MMOG and not an MMORPG since you can’t really pick your role as good/evil but is forced along the good guy path, I agree that this kind of content would suit the game. We don’t have factions, but does that mean that we live in a world of purely “good guys”? No, of course not. People have different opinions, and basically has different ways of striving for what they think is good. It is kind of a clichéed good guy that we play as.

Getting variety like this would be nice. I’m definitely for your suggestion.

Excellent suggestion, this would be great if the living story didn’t advance every month but instead new chapters would appear every 3 or so. They should give us a few choices and then after a while expand in the direction players have contributed the most.
