Condition Grenades Engineer Build & Advice

I run a build similar to Yam’s, but with less health/condition damage and more toughness/precision. 2x Rune of Strength, 2x Rune of the Fire, 2x Rune of Lyssa, 1x Sigil of Battle, 1x Sigil of Corruption for maximum power, might duration and condition duration. I strictly WvW, and it works well in both zergs and havoc groups. My parties of 3-5 regularly trash enemy parties of 5-8, and our TC 20-man zergs stomp enemy zergs twice our size.

Yes, the main problem lies in the dual core. Your video card is also not fantastic. I think my computer is roughly comparable (Intel core duo E6750 @ 2.66GHz, GTX 550ti GPU) and I have almost the exact same performance that you describe.

WvW will always be a low-FPS exercise unless you have a quad core.

Sorry to necro a thread, but I have the exact same question and I wanted to know what the OP ended up purchasing and what his experience with it has been like.

I see what you’re saying Solar. I checked the price for both the NP7370 with the 4800MQ cpu + GTX 765m, and the NP8230 with the 4700MQ cpu + GTX 770m. Both are nearly equal – within $5 in fact. The only other difference is the 7370 has a larger screen. Thank you all for the help!

I think the Intel core i7 4700MQ is 2.4ghz. That seems adequate, right?

I’m fine with killing graphics settings for WvW as long as I don’t have unplayable 5 fps. I might still go with the Sager because I’m not willing to shell out $2000 for a computer. I at least know it will be better than my old desktop.

Thanks for the help!

EDIT: A couple more questions. Would an upgrade from a 2gb GTX 765m to the 3gb 770m be worthwhile? And is 12gb RAM necessary, or is 8 enough?

I figured as much for WvW. Having to run the game on low when there’s large numbers of players on the screen is fine, as long as I’ll get playable FPS (35 is fine).

Would Windows 8 really run the game better? Any particular reason why?

And is the Sager the clear choice of the two? Mujtaba’s analysis seems useful (thanks for that). I have no experience with Sagers but I’ve been readiing that they work well for gaming.

Hey folks. After some hemming and hawing I decided it’s time to take my 6-year-old dinosaur of a desktop out back and give it a quick end. As it is, my laptop is battered and also in need of replacement, and because I will likely be travelling abroad within the next two years to P.R. China, I have decided to look into gaming laptops.

Right now I’m looking at the two following options, though I’m open to other suggestions:

Manufacturer refurbished Alienware m17x r4
Intel core 3rd gen i7 3630Qm
12gb RAM
500gb SATA harddrive
nVidia GeForce GTX 660m
Windows 7

Sager NP7370 Sager NP8230
Intel core 4th gen i7 4700MQ
8gb RAM, upgradable to 12gb cheap
750gb harddrive + 128/256gb SATA SSD harddrive
nVidia GeForce GTX 765m GTX 770m
Windows 7

Assuming I could purchase either, would both be suitable to run GW2? My primary concern is WvW – right now my ancient dual core drops to 5 fps in zergs and I’m as useless as a butter knife. I don’t need to play the game at max graphics, but higher settings would be nice, though I’m willing to turn down those settings in huge WvW matches.

Thanks in advance!
