Feeling A Bit Let Down

So I have quit some time ago, realizing that Anet decided to base their end game around limited time events (halloween, christmas, karka invasion, block world or whatever) while the actual end game content is missing. Leveling is innovative but it lasts for like 3 months if I take it really slow – as I did with my first and second character. Then what? Level another? Then another?

I can’t find people to run regular dungeons with because they offer minimal reward, are drawn out and most of them can’t be downed with a PuG. I can’t find people to run low level fractal with because others are either above lvl 15 already or have given up on the idea of doing it.

I keep getting zerged by the unimaginative Risen even after the Cursed Shore nerf. My class has been sucking since the launch with no fixes in sight. Not buffs! Fixes! Like talents that are not broken (spirit build? hahahaha), a pet AI that’s not broken or even just slightly better pets that don’t drop dead within 15 seconds due to unavoidable AoE.

World vs. World is all about who has the bigger zerg force. Everything can be demolished or built up through sheer zerging. Also, AoE. Your team got more AoE? Gratz! Just stand on a ledge, spam that AoE in a 360 degree circle around you and enjoy the free kills. Crowd control abilites have so little duration that they are useless.

Holy trinity gone? Cool! Now content is a frentic button smashing as your contributition consists of nothing but spamming dodge and dealing damage, praying that you won’t be out of dodge chances when the mobs puts its 34th AoE circle under you again. Sure, you have a healing skill but it’s pretty worthless and crowd control might as well not exist.

Professions are just money sinks and material collection is a mindless RNG grind.

I really tried to get into this game as I thought it’s going to be the saving grace of MMOs. I tried to use an external webpage to find people for dungeoning but that didn’t work out either. I can’t believe I’m saying this but right now this game is actually pretty boring and empty.

This thread will either get flamed to oblivion, locked or deleted. I don’t know and I don’t care. I left my opinion for all it’s worth so do with it whatever you wish. Secretly I’m still hoping that me and all my friends who have quit will be able to come back to something. To feel excited when seeing the Guild Wars 2 launcher patching itself.

What is wrong with nudity?

(because nobody seems to ask for naked men ever)

I remember when I first installed Skyrim and went looking for mods. The very first thing I got was a texture mod that increased resolution and smoothed rough edges because if there’s one thing a PC gamer hates it’s graphics tailored for and therefore limited by consols. The very second thing however was a men body enchancer that added 100% more bodyhair to them + a nude option.

I’m a horrible human being.

Why Orr brings out the worst in the "community"

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Orr is not difficult nor it is interesting. It’s frustrating because the game throws artifical challenge at you in the form of monsters that pull, stun, poison, burn, aoe, heal themselves, attack in big numbers and respawn the very second you killed them. They’re the epitome of everything that is wrong with this game’s enemy system.

Orr is designed in a way that you can never solo your way through it without getting constantly mobbed and dying which in itself is a source of annoyance if you don’t have any friends who can play at the same time as you. This anger factor is tripled by the fact that Orr is the only place where you can and must grind to get enough gold for things you actually want to do.

Other players become the enemy that you can’t live without. You need the zerg so the game spawns high amount of mobs during events and you need the party so you get a decent chance at loot but you wish they would just all go AFK so you could finally tag enough mobs to get rewarded and be done with the place till your little bag of gold starts depleting again.

As much as I love helping out people, I started to notice the curse of Orr taking an effect on my general mood as well. When I’m jumping into the fray for the 50th time and the fellow I just saved runs past me to a nod then ports away for the 50th time it’s starting to rub me the wrong way. Especially since I usually get mobbed afterwards by stuff they aggroed and inevitably die.

The biggest design fail with Orr, most high level – high-density maps and dungeons is that everyone just started stacking toughness and vitality. There are no tanks, no damage dealers, no healers. No aggro management either. Which means that the only valid playstyle is a defensive one. I’m not expecting a glass cannon to go around and solo everything but a little more variety and laxity would be much appreciated. No matter what class you roll, it’s always “you could get this and that stat but only after you have X and Y amount of tough/vit or you’re going to die if you have more than one mob breathing down on your neck”.

It matters not if I play solo or with a group. We can’t form a strategy to make monsters target specific players while certain folk heal and the rest work together on pumping out direct damage, combo fields, utility, traps, crowd control, whatever. No. You’re on your own and if the enemy targeted you while you have a non-defensive build then enjoy your kitten getting kicked while praying that someone can help you rally before getting killed.

The latter problem is present everywhere in the game. It’s just much more pronounced and easier to notice in Orr, home of the Risen lolzerg fest.

It’s one thing when it affects a small demographic of people in which a small margin of players may be impacted. It’s something else when it affects a measurable fraction of a coastal playerbase…

Translation:

“I’m appaled that Arenanet dosen’t cater to my region’s special problems in time of need. I think every region deserves the same treatment unless they are small, forgettable, not in the U.S.A. and I couldn’t find them on the world map even if my life depended on it. The last two is kind of the same though. Otherwise I’m all for equality. Srsly.”

Hey, next time a massive catastrophe hits a country with a population of 10 million people (at max) in Europe, I’ll ask an international company to please re-schedule / extend / repeat something because those people can’t make it en-masse due to no fault of their own. But that probably wouldn’t matter cause they only represent a small margin of players, right?

Go and prepare for your hurricane.

Ecto Salvage Rate nerfed?

Actually, I once did a testing after the patch with loot bags to see if DR started affecting them as well. Circled between a few Flame Legion oriented events in Plains of Ashford and didn’t stop until I had 250 Tiny Loot Bag. I logged off and didn’t open them till the next day to stop an already accumulated loot DR affecting the statistics.

Kept a screenshot of the result. 250 Tiny Loot Bags amounted to the following: 173 butter, 95 rawhide piece, 51 jute scrap, 34 bone chip, 17 tiny totem, 28 vial of weak blood, 4 crystal sliver and 2 molten sliver. The thing is that after the 50th bag, good loot started getting scarce and after the 100th bag I was getting nothing but butter, rawhide and the occasional bone chip or two. It was a noticable drop and a big one at that.

So if the DR affects loot bag item gain chances, I don’t see why it wouldn’t affect salvaging item gain chances as well.

There’s a DR on probably everything, including the chances of rare item gain from salvaging or loot bag opening. But all is well because it’s there to stop those duplicitous kind of bots and exploiters that make suspicious cackling noises and twirl their moustaches while giving a grandiose monologue about their gold making schemes. Except that it’s to stop everyone but those people.

Dynamic Event Karma Reduction System

in Dynamic Events

The diminishing is definietly broken or at least I hope this is not how the devs intended it to work. I played in Plains of Ashford today and after 3 hours (from which actual playtime was around 2 hour – other times the character was parked in a settlement while I cooked lunch and such), all event rewards got reduced to 17 exp, 2 karma and 1 whole whopping coin. It’s important to note that I did not farm the same event.

I was running around the map, collecting materials to craft an armour later on and if I saw an event nearby I participated. There were maybe two or three events I did twice and everything else only once. Yet, I’m getting punished as if I were a bot.

Not cool, Anet. Not cool. Until this is fixed I’m not buying any booster either as they’re pretty much worthless if the rewards are diminishing at such rate.
