Agreed. Not only on townskins, but armor overall is somewhat of a turndown. There are some gems ofcourse and the system to dye your gear in every colour is very welcome.

But more options in the gemstore would indeed be very welcome. Skins that look good (I know it’s relative, as everyone has different tastes), both for townclothes, but also for armor (all armor types, light/medium/heavy).

Beauty of it all is that you don’t need to bother with stat distribution, just buy the skin you like and get on with your life!

As a sidenote: Could make it so that armor is rewarded ingame through crafting/dungeoning/PvP/mythic forging or similar while Townarmor is bought with gems (which can be bought with money and traded for gold). No stats on the armor ofcourse, and at a reduced price at vendor/requires less ingredients to craft, since there is no stats on it.

As above poster said. Best “counter” (it’s not really a true counter though) is probably awareness and getting away from the portal or moving your groups in a way so that when the enemy portal in you melt them first before they bring their entire melt and melt you.

RvR is about bringing the melt, in my humble opinion. Whether it’s in zergs or highly organized smaller squads, the melt’s got to be brought somehow as efficiently as possible and that’s how you win and wipe the opposition.

PS. For those of you who don’t know. Melt equals an area where the damage output is as high as possible. Usually it’s a group of players spamming AoE in any way possible, whether it is with abilities or siege weaponry.

It got me heartbroken seeing this thread set back 228 pages with no replies and barely any views.

Not that it’s message carry any worth, since it’s about zone-completions, which hardly anyone does as a serious thing (unless they just escaped from looneyville) and apparanly he plays a range as well, which no person does except for the root and the ability to say " I tamed a Cougar" while only semi-lieing.

Well, I have people in the guild offline right now. Some do show their latest location while others have the “Unknown” where their location should be. I have offline people that I know have played today, which all show their latest location, and offline people who haven’t played in weeks which all show up as “Unknown”.

It could be my UI being bugged ofcourse, but could it also be so that the “Unknown” pops up when a player is actually inactive long enough for it to switch to an unknown status? If so, it could be used to check if members have gone inactive without telling so, for guilds who are interested in a clean roster.

Anybody knows what it means when a character shows up as “Unknown” in the guildroster? If it means that they have gone inactive. If so, how long does it take for the inactivity “Unknown” thingy to kick in?

I was wondering if anyone ingame has found a set of armor, or a mix of armorpieces, that is as similar as possible to the Warhammer Chosen armor ,Warlord and Sovereign set (from the game Warhammer Online), and Chaos Warrior/Knight (see any other warhammer game or tabletop)? Basically I’m looking for that fully-plated look, where you can’t see any skin or the face and almost your entire body is incased with plate armor. I have found some pictures from different blogs so you can see what I mean:

I have looked around a bit myself and have found a couple of armor mixes that are somewhat in my liking but they lack somewhat in the ‘fully plate-incased’ look. It’s especially the helms (almost none of them have horns, and those that do does cover the face fully, except for the Tier 3 Norn helm. And the platehelms that cover the face doesn’t have horns.. Such a dilemma :P ) and the chestplate (I don’t like how it kinda “narrows” down towards the waist, it makes them look very thin and not very brutish).

Well that’s enough rant from me . I’m quite realistic and I understand if there aren’t exactly carbon copies of Chaos armor in the game, even though that would be the best :p , but still hope that there is some heavy plated fully incased armor out there for grabs.

You can always buy it from a guild armor merchant for 5g. Just saying.

Perhaps not the answer you are looking for :P , but it’s probably easier to grind 5g than to do 50-80 storyline if it is so tedious for you.

We are a casual small-scale World vs World guild that aims to have three groups running in WvW. We play for the good fights and avoid the zerg as much as possible.

We are looking for players that:

-Enjoys doing PvP/RvR. Obviously this is the most important trait – although we do some PvE aswell, it’s mostly just for giggles when we want to explore more of the game, or gearing up for future endevours in WvW. If you don’t find any enjoyment in PvP at all, then this guild is probably not for you.

-Knows the basics of Guild Wars 2 and WvW/RvR. We don’t mind to teach, but it helps if you already knows the basics so you can just jump straight in.

-Don’t mind abit of roaming with a full group or less. Numbers may vary, as we aim to recruit quality over quantity.

-Have patience. Good, quality players don’t grow on trees and it takes time finding them. We may not always have two full groups online to RvR. We may not always win and roflstomp everything. We may not be at every camp/keep/castle cap to get maximum xp/karma/coin gain, if there is better fighting elsewhere.
Long story short: If you play with your heart and balls instead of your greed and kitten you will find great enjoyment in this guild.

I think the scoreboard is there for matchmaking, to make it so that “good” servers are separated from “bad” servers (may it be that they lack in activity or just don’t have the community to perform well in RvR) so that servers who are lacking don’t get completely stomped every day by servers who are better.

I agree ,though, that the scoreboard gives a different competition than just holding the zones (which is the kind of RvR I’m used to aswell), as people see the score and not just that keeps/camps/castles must be taken then defended just for the hell of it to show the other servers who’s boss.

I don’t think the scoreboard is all evil, either. As the matchmaking will eventually move you up and down a ladder depending on your wins/losses. The more you win the higher you will get, ofcourse, and this will also determine how “good” your server is. So there can actually be greater purpose of realmpride (serverpride) if you put a goal to move your server up the ladder, until you eventually, with determination, skill and dirty tricks/strategies (some strategies are like dirty tricks) reach the highest point of the ladder and can call yourself numero uno (huehuehue) and sit there defending your highest spot on the ladder, looking down on other servers and mock them for being inferior until you (maybe, eventually) get knocked down from the first place and have to work to get number one and restore some pride.

I wonder if there is a way for me to create a channel, like /map or /guild, only it’s custom-made and people need to have a password or be invited to use the channel?

It would be useful since me and my guild do alot of RvR and aim to field more than a group into RvR. At the moment though, we feel kinda hindered to do this since you can only make a group hold five people and not upgrade it to a warband, or similar, to hold 4 groups/20 people. We use voice-comm, ofcourse, but since not everyone is able to speak on it, it is a shame that they cannot communicate properly with us and have to resort to guildchat instead. I know ‘Commanderp’ let’s you make a warband with 20 people and shared ‘squad’-channel. But from my understanding it doesn’t let you lock it to guildmembers only or make it invite-based. Which doesn’t really cut it for us, since we want to be able to play with and communicate with all our members without being forced to use the guildchat, as we use it more as a ‘lounge’-chat, rather than coordination central.

I have been reading alot of WvW threads lately, and most of them have been about complaints of how the “nightcappers” can make a lot of points during the nights, when most people are supposedly asleep.

Obviously, we can’t force anyway to not play during the night, since it is a 24/7 game. We also can’t randomly kick people from WvW to make balance, because this would most likely cause queues and, again, would not be very fair towards those that don’t have a choice other than to play at night.

Instead, take a look at the point reward system. At the moment, you gain points for how much of the map you control (keeps, towers, camps all that stuff) every 15 minutes.

Now, what I was thinking, why not increase the time between the award ticks to 1 hour or even 2 hours? This will provide less ticks overall, but more importantly, less ticks during the night, making the fighting longer and will (hopefully) give players that are outgunned more time to organize themselves and take objectives during the 1-2 hour timespan to hinder the opposing realms of racking up points when there is less opposition online.

Just my two cents. I’m no game-developer, just a simple RvR-git that enjoys the RvR ,but has grown tired of the nagging :P

I already have those options, and all options in the advanced graphic settings, set to either none or low, I’m afraid. Thanks for the reply none the less.

I guess I’ll have to live with it for now until I can upgrade my computer, or more options gets implemented regarding visual effects.

I and a couple of guildmates have similar problem. We do receive the mails, but whenever we try to press the mail we received (the “button” thingy in the email) we get error message.

This has been like this for me since release, and now I have just stopped caring about getting my email validated and hope that i don’t run into an issue that requires validation.

Whenever I enter an area where there is a vast amount of players (world PvP/RvR for example) I’m having slight lag (mobs/players takes time to load) and a massive drop in framerate. I used to play a game called Warhammer Online, and my experience in that game was that is was AoE and visual effects that caused loads of lag.

Now, I can’t stop people from Aoeing, because most skills are AoE and they need to kill whatever is in front of them. But I wonder if I can do anything about visual effects instead? Just to turn the new year’s eve cascades of light fighting that we have now into something more simplistic that doesn’t stress our computers so much.

I have checked the options ofcourse, but couldn’t find any options or tab specifically for visual effects (just shadows and animations and such) . Is there a secret tab that I missed or perhaps any addons or mods that lets you alter the graphics in such a way?

If not, could the developers please add it, or something similar, as soon as possible? I like the game and I like the PvP so far, both structured and world, and it’s a shame I can’t do more world PvP just because I don’t have a monster rig available, and I’m sure many more feel the same.
