Unfortunately, with matters like harassment and stalking, and trolls, a lot of problems can come from simply even seeing a person on the map, or in the same space as you. I run a roleplay guild and have been roleplaying and playing MMOs for a number of years, and it comes as a constant desire and complaint. People who are harassing us in some function, or we are otherwise uncomfortable to be around, will stay and remain or follow us even if we block them. We can make harassment reports, but it can take some time before any action is made.
A block form with an optional feature to make the person who is blocked invisible, and you invisible to them, would be a good way for those of us who are victims of stalkers, abusers, harassers or griefers or ‘trolls’ otherwise, would be a good function. I know a number of people, and have my own experience, with problems involving anxiety and paranoia, and this would be a great way to achieve some relief. There are certain situations where certain people can arrive on a scene and interrupt it even simply with their presence, or even the presence may cause anxiety and discomfort for some. I imagine it would not just benefit roleplayers, as others can be victim of stalkers and harassers as well in other game modes and situations.
I’ve yet to see how such an option could be abused or exploited if it works both ways, but if anyone wishes to discuss or provide input or thoughts, or even experiences otherwise, please feel free. Thank you for reading!
