Hello,
First of all, since this is the warrior sub-forum, you’ll obviously get more pro warrior replies.
I have played both and commanded a lot on both as well.
While the warrior does have an easier time staying alive, you need to consider what makes a good commander.
Important things in wvw are -
Group stability
Range CC
At least some sort of range pressure
Support like healing and protection
And probably the most important one – the might rotation (empower)
I have seen many commanders who had houndreds of hours commanded on their warriors switch to guardian just for getting the empower rotations better.
So in my opinion, for new wvw players and commanders I would suggest picking up warrior, but at the end of the day guardian outshines warrior in the commander role.
Also don’t forget that the bigger life pool and more defensive utilities from the warrior are useless once you understand how to fight, where to stand (positioning), when to push etc etc.
I personally run a lot of times on my guard with knights armor and full berserker trinkets and still end up being the last man standing.
Don’t take the easy route is what I can give you as an advice, take your time to practice and you will be rewarded for it
/edit: forgot to mention that the crazy in fight mobility of warrior is useless when commanding because most people won’t have the possibility of catching up to you
