I don’t care if it was a planned effort, but the DB/FA 2v1 TC speed flip of all of TCBL map (except garry) in less than 45 mins just right now was an great offense. Hats off. We had to squeeze forces out of other maps to now reorganize TCBL.
We will get them back, and next time we’ll be quicker.
Definitely nothing planned on FA’s part. We noticed you had your hands full, went to see if we could join in the fun, the lag got so hideous half of us couldn’t even move much less anything else, so we decided to wander off and take a nice refreshing swim in Bay for a while.
Make sure you aren’t drinking anything when he starts, however…otherwise, you’re likely to coat your monitor with a nasally-projected version of whatever it is you intended to swallow.
Actually, we don’t really care about the meta. We care about quality fights.

Ever since the latest patch, connectivity to the red borderlands (in my case, Fort Aspenwood Borderland) has been VERY dodgy at best. At times, it’s impossible to stay connected long enough to get on the borderland and run more than a few hundred meters. It’s also very random – some of us can be on the borderland for hours without a problem, until there is a fight, and then the random disconnect festival starts. For others, they can’t even manage to join up with the commander they’re following before their connection to the server drops. I’ve even had it disconnect me on zone-in to the spawn – yet this issue doesn’t happen on either green or blue borderlands, only red.
I have no idea whether this affects all servers, all NA servers, or even just our own – but I do know most guilds can’t ever mount any sort of defense on the borderland without 2/3 of their people losing their connection. Region is also random – I’ve had non-stop disconnect issues while someone in Australia is on solid, and I’ve had the opposite be true as well, where I’m in there rock-solid while the guy in Australia is so frustrated with the disconnects that he bails on WvW entirely for the night.
Please make this a priority issue. Thanks.
Don’t care for the idea. Keep defense is already weighted in favor of the defenders (largely thanks to the recent change to arrow carts). Being able to see exactly where the enemy is would give you even more of an advantage, while offering no counter to the opposing force.
Here’s a thought – rush the points you’re missing on reset night. Set something up so a bunch of you all hit the same map that night with the sole focus being to capture objective X, Y, and Z, just so you can complete your maps. Everything is paper at reset.
I do recommend exotic toughness gear though…no sense getting steamrolled by a force half your size because you’re all running around in glass cannon yellow gear
Who knows – you just might actually ENJOY yourselves while doing it, too.
LOL at all the double-team posts. I spend more time every night I’m in WvW fighting DB than TC by a large margin. I run with several guilds throughout the course of a night, and not a single one of them treats either server we’re up against any differently – if it’s an enemy, it’s totally fair game.
Tonight for example: we had a large pug zerg roaming around on TCBL, decided to wander up to the northwest tower to cause some trouble there. We hit the top of the switchback, broke left, and see a mostly-guild-group from DB flinging rocks from catapults. Instead of just breaking off and aiding our so-called allies, we went after them. Mid-way through the fight, another DB guild group shows up, and suddenly the fight gets a lot more interesting.
Ultimately, we won the fight.
We then wandered over, blew up some siege on the walls at the tower, and then decided that spending 2 hours breaking into that dinky tower with trebs or catas to counter 12 arrowcarts didn’t appeal, so we wandered off to go find trouble somewhere else.
In essence, we saved the tower for TC from our alleged DB allies.
I’d call the myth totally busted.
As “tragic” as the Boston thing was/is, I’m not so sure it needs as much publicity as it’s been given. Terrorism is a fire of which is fed by the fears of people, and fueled by the media over coverage. To point, only 3 people [sadly] died, yet people are trying to get these charity things up in the $100,000’s to millions. For what purpose is the excess money?
You know what’s a worse off event? How about the fertilizer plant explosion in Texas that already as 20+ dead and more unaccounted for (60ish?). That is a far more tragic event that could use donated charity money much more than the Boston thing. There’s also the Earthquake that hit China and over 180+ dead. Tragic, horrible, and needs far more help as more people are effected by that than the Boston thing.
And who’s to say we won’t be doing charity drives for these also? There is nothing preventing that. I will personally be looking for these to happen as well.
I think the big difference here:
West, Texas: Thus far, this has been ruled an industrial accident. No news here in Texas to the contrary.
China earthquake: Pretty certain this falls under “act of nature”
Boston bombing: This was a deliberate act – and these tend to get the most attention at onset.
All three are tragic events. All three deserve our notice. And hopefully, all three will get that notice.
Or perhaps two other servers will step up and start charity drives for each of those events. Anyone care to take up that mantle?

Yeah, we have a golem killer on TC. He jumps into a golem, jumps it off a cliff, gets into next golem, jumps that off a cliff and repeats it for every golem he can get.
We know who he is, we know his account name, we reported him with screenshots and all. But ANet doesn’t do anything about saboteurs like this, apperently, this sort of lame behaviour is OK for ANet
I’m pretty sure his twin brother is on FA. When he can’t jump them off of cliffs, he apparently likes to roam around the borderlands in them and pick random towers to try to beat on. Sadly, in many cases, we already hold said tower. His village misses him terribly.
When a zerg rolls over you in WvW and 8 of them step aside to spam /sit on your corpse for 5 minutes, is this the sort of thing that should be reported using /report? What is Anet’s stance on this?
What about everyone else?
My own take is that this sort of behavior promotes a generally bad atmosphere in the game, and is likely to drive away potential newcomers. It seems like the sort of thing that should be discouraged.
My take? If you’re willing to let your body sit there for 5 minutes, you’re accepting that they can and will do various things with it. Teabagging, tombstoning, dropping cookie trays, all sorts of things can happen.
Sometimes it’s more entertaining to leave your body there for as long as you can, especially if they know you’re a mesmer. Sure, they can get obnoxious – and I usually just laugh since I know they’re wasting manpower and time to keep an eye out for that corpse to despawn.
If you’re bothered by it, waypoint as soon as you’re dead – you’ll never have to see it happening to you again. Reportable? I doubt it highly.
Maximize the box your minimap is in. Zoom all the way in. Put a waypoint at the edge of the minimap. Drop your portal where you are standing, run to the waypoint, drop the other end. If going at angles, err on the side of caution, go short.
Practice in lion’s arch, using various landmarks as your start/end targets until you are comfortable. Divinity’s Reach is another good practice area, lots of good flat space. Make sure you’re spec’d to reduce the recharge on it, at least during practice time. It helps tremendously.
We’re aware of the bug with queuing and are working on a fix.
If queueing is bugged it places people at an extreme disadvantage. WVW should be disabled until WVW is working properly. Don’t band-aid the thing.
LF a RET Officer/Leader to talk with about a potential exploiter within RET.
PM me.
Unless RET tolerates it.
As one of the backup/off-hours commanders within RET, I can assure you that I will just as quickly report someone on my own server who is hacking/exploiting/etc as I will someone on another server. I can also assure you that ALL of the leaders (and commanders) within RET have been rather vocal about this at one point or another.
Feel free to approach any of the leaders in this guild with your concerns and evidence. If it bears out, I’m pretty comfortable saying that individual will feel a rather well-placed boot in their backsides. At the same time, I also urge you to report them properly. Those who would hack or exploit don’t just cause issues with WvWvW, but tend to cause them elsewhere as well.
Many thanks to SoS this week. You guys brought some great fights, and at times you had us running all over the place with swords all over the map. Your folks were pretty classy, and I’ll miss the fights with you. One of my favorite moments is still when one of your guys waved to me on the wall at Hills, and when I snickered and waved back, they cheered. We then went on to a great fight of 10-15 per side, good times.
Kain – your folks definitely brought it this week, especially early on. Your guys definitely know the meta game and run it exceedingly well, even when you’re out of prime time.
Some of the best moments this week:
“We need some help or we’re going to lose this keep” “We’ll be there in a few, we’re killing the grub.”
“I need supply to the top of SMC for a counter-treb” – they bring supply, then spend 15 minutes with a cauldron having a costume brawl on top of the treb.
Most irritating moment of the week:
Having to deal with a pair (possibly the same guy on two toons) teleport hackers popping into Overlook repeatedly just so they could slowly but surely wipe out the siege on the walls.
Worst moment of the week:
Having 20+ in map chat so focused on how to find and report said teleport hacker that they totally ignore the 20-25 who are inside Overlook working on the inner door.
Best fights: The taking and defending fights in SMC. Every one of them I’ve been involved in has ended up as a multi-hour siege, with many choke point battles on the walls, lots of open-field in the courtyards. If it weren’t for the ability lag… on both sides…
Oh, and to whoever said we didn’t have queues… I was queued twice last night trying to get in, once for well over an hour before I went to kitten it up on an alt in PvE for a while out of sheer boredom, the other for more than 30 minutes…granted, not the epic 6+ hour waits to get into WvWvW in T1 that I hear all about, but still pretty irritating when all you want to do is get in and join the fun you’re hearing on TS.
Note: Listening to other people fight on TS while you’re standing in the mists trying to get a slot is kinda like those old TV radios. It’s neat for about 3 minutes, then it’s just irritating.
