I would like to apologize in advance if I am missing something mechanic-wise in my post. As I understood, all the new skills from the new elite spec’s Reaper’s Shroud will be affected by traits that affected the former Death Shroud skills.
In this regard, the Soul Reaping trait Reaper’s Shroud, giving vulnerability an piercing to Life Blast and Plague Blast, should affect the new spec’s Life Rend and since the former doesn’t seem projectile-based, the piercing appears to become redundant if you select those traits, generating a weird synergy in the process.
My suggestion would be to remove the piercing from the trait, making it baseline for Life Blast and Plague Blast, adding an increased vulnerability duration (something between 10-20%) to that specific trait.
This change would be within the lines of what seems to be Anet’s philosophy for the Necromancer, being a debuffer supporter. This would make Necromancer a more effective vulnerability stacker increasing it’s viability in PvE a bit more (not to other classes level but would be a start). In conclusion, killing to rabbits in one strike.
I hope I haven’t dropped the ball with any mechanic here and if I did, I hope someone points it out for me since my knowledge on the Necromancer is not godlike if you get my meaning.
