I Gave Up On This Game Am I Wrong?

Im a GW1 fan and find this game to be very disappointing…like several of my friends who also played GW1. I don’t know how long this game will be around but I’m already getting tired of it.

When will the monotony end??

When will the constant spawning/respawning of foes over and over and over as fast as possible end?? The new content is nothing but a zergfest in another way. Let’s add more foes, quicker spawns, over-powered foes that can kill in one hit or two…but takes forever to kill. The concept of the LA events going on now is actually kind of cool, but the means of everything is just old, boring and monotonous. Please end it already and make the game better, what made it great in the first place. Add more player content, more tasks, more things to do that doesn’t require hundreds of people, constant, monotonous respawning. I’ve stopped spending my own money in the TP as I just can’t see myself supporting this game much any more until the content gets better.

Anyone else realize GW1 is the better series?

Yes….GW1 was better…it was player oriented in a way, not a zergfest.

How to speed up a Norn Engineer???

in Engineer

Thugem Chi.6189

When I started playing GW2 I created a Norn Engineer not really knowing anything about the game even though I came over from GW. I really enjoy the Engineer and think it’s a fun class, especially the flamethrower. But my Norn Engineer is so slow, it’s ridiculous. Everything seems to be in slow motion and boring. I can’t keep up with anyone in the game. I know I can use the Elixir B for a short speed boon and Elixir H in the hope of getting another speed boon but wasting the healing. I also know I can put a Superior Sigil of Speed on my rifle for a short speed boost (after killing a foe) but it doesn’t do me any good when using the flamethrower. The speed rune in this game is a joke….you need 6 of them on a char to make any real difference (in regards to speed) of only 25% compared to other boons that are 33%. The Superior Rune of the Traveler again requires all 6 runes before getting a speed boost of only 25% (compared to others at 33%). Are there any other options to make the character have better movement speed? I just find myself not playing the Engineer any more as he is no fun because of how slow he is in the game. I play my Guardian all the time and my Ranger too at times, as I can have constant speed boons with them using signets or skills. I know the Engieer doesn’t have any signets but one would think they should seeing they are Engineers and should be able to make whatever lol. It seems to me that all of my other characters move faster than my Engineer even without using speed boons. Is that really the case? Does the prof and/or class affect the base speed of the character? If so then I know not to play Engineers any more in the game and just stay with Guardian or Ranger.

Hint Completion Bug

In my achievements for Hint Completion, I am showing 79/83 completion. When I go to the Hints screen it shows three categories that I have not completed. I can understand the Skills & Traits category as I have not made a warrior and elementalist yet, but other hints I know for sure I have completed. Under Items & Equipment it does not show Laurels checked. I have talked to the laurels vendor many times, some of it has been for dailies, others to check out the goods and also to purchase. Under WvW category it shows I am missing Supply which I know I have used supplies many times in WvW to help fix and build stuff. Anyone having this problem? Is there anything I need to do or am missing? Is this a bug?

Worst new content, in my opinion

in The Origins of Madness

Thugem Chi.6189

I have only been playing the game for 4 months now but I must say that after seeing this new content for the first time (Lornar’s Passs) it is the worst I have seen since I started. I thought the Tower of Madness wasn’t very good, this is so much worse. It just builds on a zerg fest. It is too complicated and confusing, nobody knows what is going on or what to do, it requires tons of people to even try it and everyone just gets mad at everyone else and name calls and everything else. This is so disappointing. This will be content that after the first several days or week it will be dead as a lot of players won’t care to do it again and those that haven’t won’t be able to do it. Very sad! Anet’s thinking has really changed and the days of GW is gone and it’s time for WoW on Anet. We wasted 2 hours waiting for the event just so everyone dies, wastes their time, repair their armor and for what? More content several of us aren’t going to spend any money buying gems to support buying stuff in TP.

Wintersday - A Real Disappointment

in A Very Merry Wintersday

Thugem Chi.6189

I was really pumped for Wintersday (I remember it from GW and liked the holiday spirit) but must admit this is a real disappointment for GW2. It is nothing but monotonous events that are geared towards hardcore gamers with pro dexterity skills on the keyboard or a PvP or zerg fest. Where are the solo quests that players can enjoy? I remember the reindeer quests in GW that was really nice and gave the game a real holiday spirit. I see very little holiday spirit in this event, just repetition and frustration of doing things over and over and over and over and over. The game is already filled with enough monotony (slowed, crippled, stunned, slowed, crippled, stunned or zerg champ after champ after champ)….don’t add more monotony to the game. The JPS are just ridiculous (near impossible) and just not fun unless you are a finger pro or want to waste so much time and still possibly not get there. This is supposed to be a time of fun and holiday spirit, not a time of continual frustration and aggravation and little to actually enjoy except jumping over and over or being in some group zerg fest over and over. Anet really doesn’t have the casual or fun gamer in mind any more, at least that is the way it seems, or those that want to adventure and enjoy the game.

Misc bugs/improvements

Fractals of the Mists….I joined a group that was already in FotM but can’t remember the name of the map. I went up the stairs (where the white plasma lines scroll down the steps) and into the room with the bot with the fan. After killing the bot we proceeded out to the ledges and the see-through platforms that you need to jump to to proceed up which has harpies on them. Every time I tried to either jump to the first ledge or if I made it past the first ledge and was jumping to the 2nd or maybe 3rd or even the 4th ledge or platform I would die. Other players said I was walking off the ledges but on my screen I was jumping and didn’t understand why I kept dying. There was something glitchy happening that kept killing me.

Waypoints….there have been numerous times where I tried to travel to a waypoint but couldn’t as it kept saying that I was in combat but I wasn’t. I was standing still doing nothing but couldn’t map travel. I’ve seen this happen to others to and requires movement to some other location which makes no sense especially since we were not fighting anything.

Burning….My character was on fire and I jumped into the water. I was submerged but kept burning and burning and burning and eventually died. I don’t understand how this is possible if the character is underwater. This needs to be fixed to more accurately reflect the circumstances.

Is not solo'able

in The Nightmare Within

Posted by: Thugem Chi.6189

Thugem Chi.6189

This whole content can NOT be done solo. To say that you have done it solo is to say you fought your way through the whole tower, beat the champions, elites, etc, all on your own, from start to finish. I doubt that very much. A person may try to run and get lucky to be shortly behind a zerg or maybe have others in front or back or around to distract the foes. But take a slow Norn Engineer through to run it or fight your way all the way to the top. (And you need to go through and encounter everything and every foe.) This whole thing is a zerg fest, and not player oriented. Either you zerg and hope you stay with the pack or you try to run on your own and hope you get lucky. Just very disappointing. I certainly won’t being buying anything from the Gem Store in support of this content.

Amazing Update - I'm Genuinly Shocked

in The Nightmare Within

Posted by: Thugem Chi.6189

Thugem Chi.6189

I’ve given the new update a chance and found it more frustrating and ridiculous than enjoyable. The sounds are cool but sounds don’t make a game. Here are some of the major problems you will run into:
*Unless you are in a large zerg group you have NO chance of getting through any section of this new content.
*Unless you have a fast char that just tries to run with the zerg you have no chance.
*Trying to figure out where you are going is kind of frustrating so you hope someone else knows.
*You will get swarmed with mobs of overpowered foes in tight areas that will be impossible to fight unless you are a large zerg.
*You will constantly get knocked down, stunned, etc, and half the time not even know why or where it is coming from.
I can see this content dying quickly because once players finish it I can’t see too many wanting to go through it over and over especially if there isn’t a zerg running it. Once the zergs die this content will die. This is really disappointing and a real let down. This content is not player oriented but rather only for large groups to run through hoping they can make it. I really miss the old days of Guild Wars and how it was player oriented and players had the opportunity to do things on their own and not be dependent on zerg groups.

We are on the Sea of Sorrows server and have located an invisible wall on a shoreline preventing entrance into the Viathan Lake. It is located in Kessex Hills, SW of the Moogooloo waypoint where the western shoreline sticks out. It starts just north of where the logs and a piece of Driftwood are laying on the shoreline and runs for a short distance to the south. If you try to go East you are bumped backwards and cannot proceed forward.

Very Disappointed

Anet’s content just gets more and more disappointing. It’s either too hard or too monotonous or just silly. I just tried the game, Lunatic Inquisition, where you run around aimlessly with no skills not knowing what to do or where to go or what you need to do and how. GW1 was fun when it came to Halloween but GW2 just seems too complicated and just not fun.

Too Hard vs Too Easy

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Thugem Chi.6189

Thugem Chi.6189

The main problem is you can’t alter the playing environment between easy and hard like you could in GW, through normal and hard modes. As the game goes you run into overpowered foes that are ridiculous and not balanced. While other times you run into foes that are easy to kill. If a foe is of the same level as you (or even 1 or 2 off) they shouldn’t be able to hit you 2 times and kill you or get you down to 10% health while at the same time requiring you to hit them 50 times or more. If that is the case their level should be many times your level-it’s not rocket science. The same goes for dungeons and especially TA which I won’t even do any more as it’s no fun, ridiculous and silly. But you can choose what you want to do and not want to do in this game. Yes you won’t complete everything if you decide not to do those things and you can try to team up with others or become a hardcore player and risk being yelled out by the pros who don’t want you in the group or leave. But not everyone is like that and don’t have 8 days a week to play or get hardcore as they have a life. The game is everything in one and there are fun aspects to this game and things that aren’t fun or possible by yourself or sometimes even in a group like some of the dungeons, etc., unless you are a pro. But the game is what it is and nothing more.

Dying Game Mechanic

There is also one more mechanic which can be irritating. When dying and you are swarmed by foes why are you not allowed to just map out? You know you aren’t going to make it or decide you just don’t want to waste your time or whatever, but you should be able to choose if you want to leave. It’s frustrating having to sit and wait to die in order to leave. And also, it is annoying when sometimes you can’t map out of an area when foes are nearby and you aren’t even in a fight (maybe you just were in a fight) but it says you are in combat. I’ve seen that happen a few times and it just doesn’t make sense….I guess it’s a game defect or something.

Disappointing game mechanics - Respawn Rate

in Suggestions

Posted by: Thugem Chi.6189

Thugem Chi.6189

Respawning of Foes – I understand that foes are respawned to populate an area but the rate at which they do is just too fast at times in certain areas. There are times you need to fight your way in to somewhere, especially underground or through a structure, and it seems like you can’t gain any ground as after you kill a foe and keep moving they respawn right behind you and attack you. There are times I just stopped and left as it wasn’t any fun and was just annoying. Extend the spawn-rate interval so players can gain ground and not have to keep fighting the same foe over and over again especially if they just killed it. This is even worse if you encounter a group of foes or an overpowered foe, then you really don’t have much of a chance as you can’t gain ground.

Disappointing game mechanics - Large Battles

in Suggestions

Posted by: Thugem Chi.6189

Thugem Chi.6189

Large-Scale Battles – Probably one of the biggest complaints I have are these battles. There are so many players and so much going on, you can’t see what is really happening, the lag is TERRIBLE, you take damage or die and don’t know how or why, sometimes you can’t even rez players because there is too much going on or you keep getting hit or knocked down (and don’t know why). It really just looks like one big indiscernible mess. I honestly don’t know the best solution for these but as they are now, I find them annoying and just not as fun as the rest of the game. I especially find the newest battle with Teq to be a waste of time. That one is probably the worst one to participate in and just isn’t fun.

Disappointing game mechanics - Game Balancing

in Suggestions

Posted by: Thugem Chi.6189

Thugem Chi.6189

Game Balancing – Most of the game is balanced but the area that is not balanced well are the foes that can hit you once or twice and you die. I’ve come across bosses that you practially can’t beat and you die so easily, it just isn’t fair or fun. It seems like you have to hit them a thousand times to kill them but they hit you a couple times and you are dead. How can that be if both of you are supposed to be of the same level or close? This is especially the case if you are penalized by being leveled-down in lower areas-just dumb. Some of the bosses/foes are just too overpowered. Why are they not level-adjusted too like the players to offset the player/players/group fighting them. In otherwords, if one or two players are fighting them make it reasonable for them to beat the boss and just give lower rewards. If a group is fighting the boss (say 5 or 6 or so) make the boss a little harder and give a little better reward. But as it is, I just don’t even try to fight them any more…it’s not worth it and it’s not fun, and from what I’ve seen many other players do the same and just bypass.

Disappointing game mechanics - Leveling Down

After coming over from GW have come across some disappointing and annoying mechanics in GW2. Obviously we all can see that GW2 is nothing like GW but more of a spinoff of WoW. The only connection is references and really nothing else. Here is one of my complaints/annoyances.

Leveling Down – I don’t know about this mechanic but it seems rather frustrating and really penalizing to the players. You work so hard to build your character up then get penalized and have to play as a noob in a lower area. You get swarmed by low level characters and die and then HAVE TO PAY TO USE A WAYPOINT AND PAY TO FIX YOUR ARMOR. You may be a level 80 character but die and have to pay money because some level 8 characters killed you. It does not make sense and is kind of dumb. Personally I’m tired of this happening especially if you are trying to help someone. Give players the option to choose how they want their character to be leveled or perhaps have them play as a lower level in an area they haven’t explored yet. How can low level characters damage level 80 armor-which you then have to pay a lot to fix? There is no need to give experience points in those areas. Lower the drop rate of items for players.

After coming over from GW have come across some disappointing and annoying mechanics in GW2. Obviously we all can see that GW2 is nothing like GW but more of a spinoff of WoW. The only connection is references and really nothing else. Here is one of my complaints/annoyances.

Waypoints – I’m indiffernt as to the concept of having to pay to use them but the overall use seems a little poorly conceived. First, paying to use them should be based on distance and the area, not also by your level. Just because you are a higher level doesn’t mean you should be penalized and have to pay more. Second, why have waypoints if they are constantly contested especially in high level areas…that makes them useless…which is just dumb. Third, having to pay to use a waypoint after you die is also just dumb. How can you pay money if you are dead? If you die you should have other options, not being forced to pay money. Some better solutions would be color coding waypoints. If foes are in the area of a waypoint then code the waypoint red to alert players and they can decide if they want to risk it-that would make it interesting. Players don’t waste their time killing all the foes in an area just so a waypoint can be available for use for a short time. You can also have 2 kinds of waypoints. First, having one or two waypoints at the entrance(s) to the area which would be free to use or a lesser cost and also act as a rez location free of cost. Second, would be the current waypoints which would cost a little more to use as they may be closer to locations. You could allow players to rez at those waypoints at a cost if they choose or use the free one. On a side note why not just use rez shrines like they did in GW so there is some connection between the two games.
