Spvp and Tpvp are mini games, why should be balance the classes based on a mini game?
Guild Wars 2 is a PvE game first and for most. Spvp and Tpvp are mini games are I am willing to bet that the majority of players will never touch Tpvp and yet you think that the game should be balanced around a mini game that not everyone is going to even play?
I am selfish because I currently like the Necromancer profession and do not want the vocial minority to change it? yes great logic you have. Yes you are the voical minority, the majority of players do not visit the forums nor post on the forums, this has been proven fact over and over again.
So again, my goal is to make sure that the vocial minority does not change the profession for their own selfish needs but instead leave the class alone and fix the things that needs to be fixed. I have seen it in pass games, the arena pvp players get classes nerfed/buffed based on their mini games and messes up the class for everyone else.
On Topic. I was planning on rolling a Warrior but I see way to many of them, so not sure what my next class is going to be.
@Navi – I do not care about Spvp or Tpvp balance, they mean zero to me. WvW and PvE (PvE including dungeons fyi) matter to me about balance and Necromancers are good in these two area’s
Why balance a class based on arena pvp when only a small section of players are going to play that mode compared to the other modes? If you want to play PvP arena’s there are many games that balance classes for that type of game play. Go play LoL if you want balanced arena PvP or other games like that. This game main focus is PvE and it should remain that way.
I like how you get to decided which is more important because you think sPvP and Tpvp are important, you think the rest does not matter, I disagree. I think spvp and tpvp are useless mini games, why balance a game based on a mini game?
WvW and PvE balance matter more to me than s PvP Epen.is Arena’s that have zero baring on the game and are nothing more than a mini game.
Also, since we can agree that the class has bugs and is not yet working at 100%, nobody can say that Necromancers are not balanced for Spvp and Tpvp until our stuff is fixed.
@QSpec – I am making a point that unlike these others, I do not believe the Necromancer class is a useless class, far from it in my opinion.

This makes zero sense at all. How am I a thief in my mind if I play a Necromancer and think I am playing a life stealing Necromancer character?
@Sebyos – Stop trying to talk using logic with these people. They clearly do not want to hear how Necromancers can be played well and how to do so. They are just whining they do not have an “I win” button in PvP and have to work (maybe harder than other classes) at being good.
They do not care you are talking about PvE, they just want to whine about not being gods in PvP Arena mode (Spvp and Tpvp). They also Ignore any talk about how Necromancers can hold their own in WvW.
For some reason Spvp and Tpvp trump the other game modes and these people want to make Spvp and Tpvp the center of the game and balance all class for such. screw the other side. The PvE and WvW are not important, they have to have the “I Win” button in the Ekitten arena or the class is broken.
I think he’s a thief. Or ranger. Maybe, both.

Just because you only play PvE, WvW, and dungeons, doesn’t mean everything else doesn’t exist.

No, it does not mean they do not exist but to change the class based on a single mode is plan stupid and silly.
I have seen way to many times where the vocal minority on the forums getting certian classes buffed or nerfed solo based on PVP arena’s and I do not want to see that happen with one of the best designed Necromancer classes I have ever played. (Sure the bugs need to be fixed but the overall feel and design of the Necro is fine IMO and I do not want that to change.)

1. Where did I say they were trolling? I have been called the troll, might want to learn to read. You are not smarter clearly. I am a troll because I disagree Necromancers are useless profession and people should re roll away from them.
2. Look through the post on this form, clearly more people want the necromancer to rely on minions. Minions need to be fixed, they are currently buggy and the traits for them are buggy as well but that does not change the fact that their are currently other workable builds that people can use right now and be successful.
What I do not want to happen is for the profession to be changed away from the current setup. I want to see the things that are not working fixed but I do not want to see the overall profession change.
Some people are even suggesting that DS be changed and turn into something else. NO. That is not acceptable.

Spvp and Tpvp are nothing, they are battleground PvP. I can play battleground PvP in every other MMO on the planet. I play GW2 for PvE and WvW. Some might play for the Spvp and Tpvp modes but why should they get to decide how the class works and does not work? Why should they be the only voice that gets to chime in on changes to a class that will effect others outisde of those modes?
How does stating what I like and dislike about the Necromancer class make me a troll? Oh right, I disagree with you, so I am a troll. I get it.
Once they fix the Minion bugs and the few trait points that are not working correctly, we can revisit how the class works and what needs to be changed. The fact is there are other builds that do just fine right now, just because they are not what you want, does not change the fact they are working fine right now.
Sure do Necromancers need some loving but they are not as bad as you and others make them out to be at all. They are useful, they have their role and good players wil do just fine with the current Necromancer profession.
I am far from the only Necromancer that likes the profession minus the few bugs and minion issues.
The thing is and most people will not understand this, not even half of the player base will ever visit these forums and even less than that will ever post.
So the few that are posting on these forums are the vocial minority and normally they ruin classes for the rest of us.
I have seen it in other games, the PVP arena crowd cries and cries and gets a class nerfed or buffed which screws it up for those of us that do not care about PvP arena’s.
I love the people that come into these sorts of threads and say something to the effect of “Necros are fine noobs! I do so good in WvW and World Events!”
Really? You do fine in giant zergs against mediocre players? How absolutely shocking.
Try doing some content that actually takes some skill, like sPvP / tPvP or the dungeon paths that everyone is not farming. Then come back and say that Necros are on the same level as everyone else.
Also, being able to press Signet of Spite and then Epidemic followed by “kiting” (aka running around in DS while things die) is not an achievement. It’s the only play-style you are built to preform with.

Who cares about Spvp or Tpvp. PvE, WvW and Dungeons are the only thing that matters to me and my Necro does just fine in all 3 of those arena’s.
If I wanted to play battleground pvp games, I would not have switched away from the other MMOs that ofter that type of pvp.
@They are hashes – My roommate who sits at his computer right next to mine has a level 80 ele. So does that answer your question?
When we are grouped in WvW, he has to run out of battle to regen and live. He will come back and I will still be fighting away. He makes this comment all the time “kitten, your still alive” That says everything you need to know about how to play the Necromancer class.
I see the big picture, once more people understand how to play a Necromancer in GW2, the more people are going to claim its OP, not UP. (They do need to fix some of the traits and the minions)
How many of you current Necro’s are using DS correctly? Do you stay in it until you are out of life force or do you switch in and out of DS as required?
Do you use lich form? When?
I do not have the best DPS but I can survive for a long long time and that creates problems for other professions in group settings (Which is what PvP should always be balanced for.)
I normally run with my roommate’s 80 ele and my guild leaders 80 warrior. The 3 of us can take on any 3 other classes and win the majority of the time.

@Tyler – Finally someone else that has learned to play a Guild Wars 2 necro. I have had the same thing in WvW. Most 1v1s I win. Almost always the first to run into the battle and can come out with health to spare. I have lost to thiefs and rangers the most.
I just do not understand how people can say that Necromancers are a weak class, I have so many “Escapes” that it is very hard to kill me unless I am focused by the whole other group.
@RogeWilko – Necromancers do not have pets in Guild Wars 2. They have minions they are not the same.
I think that is one of the issues with the Necromancer class, people do not realize that pets and minions are not the same thing.
Minions have a mind of their own (AI)
Pets are given commands from their master.
@MOnarch – What lies and false statments did I make. The guy in the video you linked clearly needs to learn to use the dodge function, he did use but not well and not when he should have. Examples of a poor player, not a mediocre player.
Also, I cannot be Trolling when I have a Lvl 80 Necromancer in Guild Wars 2 and I am talking about playing a necromancer in guild wars 2.
Necromancers are not an easy class to play, nor should they be, it is going to take more time to master this profession then others, that is not a bad thing, that is just how it is.
Sure there are bugs but nothing that cannot be overcome once you find the bugs. So right now a Minion build is not working correct, Necromancers are more then just minions.
Also Minions are Minions NOT PETs. Pets allow you to control them. Minions are summoned and have their own minds(AI) and yes the AI needs work but the Minions will never be pets and they will never always target what you are targetting unless they are meant to be pets and not minions but I am guess not as you do not get a pet control bar in this game.
@Monarch – you can report me all you want, all it will do is show that unless people agree with you, they are wrong and you will report them.
The guy dodged the guardian a few times but what about the other fights, he does not dodge as much or when he should, he is playing the class wrong and you are trying to use a poor player showing how not to play in pvp as your example of what is wrong with a Necro. The problem with your video is that you got a poor player doing poorly. That is normal.
I do not need to prove anything to you about the Necromancer class. People who learn how to play a Guild Wars 2 necromancer will be wanted and needed in groups, those of like you that refuse to adopt or change how you think a necromancer should be played will be weeded out.
Go play an easy profession if you do not want to learn to play this one correctly, nobody is stopping you.
Sure Minions are broken and a few traits might not work correctly but none of that has stopped my necro or my build from being successful.
Also, in another thread, you said people were bashing Life steal. I see page after page of people talking about Minions and how they are broken but I did not see anything about life steal. With my current build, I have 4 abilities that can heal me through out a battle, that is more than enough to keep me alive vs most PVE content.
@Ramza – I agree, minions are bugged and not working correctly but overall I believe many people are just not learning how to run a Guild Wars 2 necro, they expect it to play like other Necromancers in other games and they are not.
I could not stand the Necro in GW1, hated it. I love the GW2 necro.

He should learn how to dodge once in a while, it might help. I watched 23 minutes and not a single dodge. Bad players will always be bad.
One vs one in WvW battles, I win most of the time. The few times I lose 1v1 is when I make a mistake or started the battle with some timers still running.
I have not done any spvp or Tpvp at all, nor do I play on it. WvW in group battles I am good enough to help not hurt.
In WvW I can live long enough for my team to run out of combat, regen and come back in fighting. The whole time I can keep the “enemies” busy and stay alive while I wait for my team to come back me up. That is key. Sure if I get rushed, I die quick but rarely do they focus on me as people believe Necro’s are weak. I disagree.
Really it depends on what I am fighting. My “Rotation” depends on who I am fighting and who is with me. It changes if I am solo, group or duo. It changes it its a single target or group of targets. It changes if it is an elite mob or not.
Normally I start with Dark pact as I am running to the mob, then Enfeebling Blood, when I reach the mob its Necrotic slash and using life siphon as needed. IF more then one mob I will use Reapers Touch or if I need extra health.
Lich Form and Spector form are both used for elites or groups of mobs.
Well of Blood gets used if I start getting low on health
Well of Suffering gets used if I am fighting a group of mobs
Signet of Spite gets used on bosses and elites and if I just want to end the fight quick.
Signet of Undeath is great for dungeons and world events (EXP for rezzing is nice)
So like I said, it is up to the fight on how I use my skills and when.
Dagger/Focus and staff in 2nd weapon slot.
Skill 1 – Necrotic Slash and the 2/3 swing steals life.
Skill 2 – Life Siphon – steals life and does nice damage
Skill 3 – Dark Pact – nice root and low damage (wish we got a better one)
Focus
skill 1 – Reaper’s Touch – bounces off up to 3 targets and heals caster
skill 2 – Enfeebling Blood – Inflict weakness and bleeding on target
Slot 6 – Well of blood – Heal overtime and heals allies
Slot 7 – Well of Suffering – great for the times when you are swarmed with mobs
Slot 8 – Signet of Spite – Great for bosses and hard targets
Slot 9 – Signet of Undeath (this one changes depending on what I am doing)
Slot 10 – Lich Form – SO POWERFUL its not even funny.
So as you can see, I am heavy into life stealing and I run Power and Vitality as my main stats, with toughness my secondary focus.
Tilron (Boris Pass) Lvl 80 Necromancer with 24,200 HP currently with only rare and green gear.
If you are not the last person alive in Dungeons than you are not playing a Necromancer correct. When my parties wipe in Dungeons, I am always the last player dead. Necromancers have so many ways to stay alive that it is not even right.
Even in WvW I can live a long time Unless I get focused but that does not happen often as most players seem to think Necromancers cannot do much damage and kill them.
1v1 in WvW, I have won more than I have lost. Normally they just run away after we fight as they realize they cannot kill me and if they Stayed I would kill them. Necromancers if anything need a stun or root beside the few we get.

Dagger/Focus gives me 3 of my 5 weapons skills that steal life.
I use the healing well in slot 6
I use the high damage well in slot 7
I use the bleed mark in slot 8
I use the group rez mark in slot 9
I use Lich in slot 10.
At level 80, I have 24,200 HP. Power and Vitality are the main stats. Heal power does not seem to help my life taps which is bull crap.
I can live forever, even vs a group of players in WvW. Done it many times. I can normally hold my ground while others on my team run out of combat regen and come back into the fight.
The only issue is that I have to use a staff in PvP and WvW most of the time. If i could stay with my Dagger/focus, I would be even better.
Everything in this build is about being able to keep up with my lifetaps vs incoming damage and for the most part this is not an issue in PvE at all. Dungeons can be hard depending on others in my group.
I am not the best DPS or Support or tank but I can play any role I am needed to play and I can live longer than any class.
What is the problem with Necromancers?
I have a necro at 80 and I have zero issues with the playstyle. WvW I can hold out against a larger force for longer than any other class, I can kill one vs one without issues against most classes. Nothing in PvE can hurt me unless I am trying stuff that I know is out of my range.
What is the issue people are having with the Necromancers?
