Stop messing with player choice when it does not break the game. I mean, give the Elementalist and the Engineer weapon swap. If you take a poll you will find there are players who will not play their Elementalist because it has no weapon swap. Some people have the patience to level to 80 before shelving the toon, I don’t have that kind of patience. There are people I have talked with who are rather sore about this issue, but since they have other toons to play they just leave the Elementalist on the shelf and forget about it. Why discriminate against these two toons?
Why should a player be denied the ability to decide whether she wants to play slow and long range with a staff, then switch to fast and short ranged with dual daggers? Does it break the game? Is it unfair? Everyone else can switch from long range to melee range, can’t they? Seriously, stop messing over these toons for no good reason. It’s infuriating when you have to watch the devs mess up their own game.

You have all the advantages, you have unlimited bad guys (and you shouldn’t), you have all the Aces. So, why cheat? I’ll explain.
Today, my little band had to take an objective and hold it. We fought our way in, defeated the defenders, then secured the entrances. We were ready to defend. And then…the enemy forces simply spawned in the middle of the objective. Yeah, I know it is a fantasy game but seriously there have to be SOME bloody rules or it is just anarchy!
And while I am on the subject, how about instituting some protocol that prevents a mob from spawning within a certain distance of a player. I am getting really tired of killing a mob, only to have it respawn immediately in the same spot where it just died.
It occurred to me that GW2 begins as a Fantasy, Sword and Sorcery game that changes into a Survival Horror game. The HoT maps seem like something that H.P. Lovecraft could have written about. Writhing vines, zombies and other horrific creatures sprouting from the ground all around you, darkness and the constant feeling of being under attack all seem more like survival horror than anything else. What do you think?
I’ve only been playing for about a month and I love to see those Mentor tags on a map. I always check to see where they are and what is going on. Also, they are great sources of information about the game. Please, don’t let the buttheads in the game discourage you. There are so many people who can’t feel good about themselves unless they are tearing someone else down. Ignore them, they are sad and miserable people. You folks are doing a great service to the game and its players, especially the new ones.
I have been playing for about a month now, and this game is absolutely stunning! One of the things that really impresses me is the attention to detail. Most things are so well thought out it surprises and pleases me. But, I suppose you can’t think of everything.
The crafting interface needs some help. When you open the window, you are met with a “wall-o-text”. You can’t find anything.
Now, it seems to me that a bunch of computer people would have organized this more like the Windows file system. When you open the crafting window you should see the UNexpanded category titles, which you can then click on to expand to find the specific item you want. The default for the list should be UNexpanded.
As the system is now, I am dreading my future crafting experience. I’m only doing level 35 items now, but by level 80 I won’t be able to find anything at all without a long tedious search through the “wall-o-text”. I hope this makes it into a future build.
Thank you all for your responses. As a new player, I did not have the access to your hindsight. I look forward to experimenting with all the features mentioned here.
Very simply, why was the Engineer not given the ability to quick swap weapons, like so many other characters? I was in a shoot out in the street, then ran into a building to pursue the villains. When I tried to swap to my pistols (since I didn’t need super long range indoors), I was surprised to find that I could not do a quick weapon swap. So, I had to check for enemies… find a safe place…open my inventory…find my pistols…etc. Did I mention the shoot out that was going on? FINALLY, back to the fight with my pistols.
So, was this an oversight or an arbitrary decision to exclude the Engineer? A player might know the answer, but a GM assured me that the Devs read the forums and I should ask here, if I ever expect a response or anything. Surely, I am not the first person to wonder about this.
