This is like 1v1 talk or something. You have 5 people engaged in fighting 5 people you roll up drop your glamours and confusion those 5 people engaged probably just died or are close to it because 1 mesmer just dumped confusion on them. Even if they don’t use any skills while they have the stacks they are still getting attack by those same 5 people. This is the scenario where confusion damage was really strong.

Myself either way its whatever I will still use confusion build a 50% nerf to confusion to sPvP levels doesn’t mean it will do the same damage it does in sPvP since you can get more condition damage and more duration in WvW. The food alone gives you 40% more duration than you can get in sPvP and confusion stacks intensity. Its not as bad as people make it out to be.

I do have a mesmer. I didn’t finish leveling it because I don’t like the play style. Given the awesomeness of crafting, if I wanted a 80 mesmer I’d just spam craft it up to 80 in a day. If they introduce another profession in the future, the mesmer will be getting deleted to free up the character slot. At the moment, the mesmer is my mule. That said, my main is a prybar engi, so in 1v1s, the nerf hits me as well.

Anyway, yeh confusion is OP. I might have tweaked it in other ways, in a more surgical manner, but the easy 50% nerf works as well. Either way it goes, the effectiveness of confusion on large groups needed to be adjusted.

Well, you pretty much pointed out the problem. In a siege battles, Eles are equivalent to your junk. It shouldn’t be that way.

this isnt the kittening growth of the human race kitten The problem is that Confusion is the only reliable condition spec for mesmers and all of us that farmed full condition gear are now kittened out of 50% of our damage. If we would have known that PRIOR to all that hard work…. do you think we would have gone through with it? Not to mention the Mesmers that spent a lot of time crafting for skins for weapons that they now will switch completely.

You can sit here and talk all the kitten you want but if this amount of reduction happened to your character you would be kittening livid.

agreed. ill try to still use my gear and all that and see if my build is still vial, but i tried it in spvp and felt the difference a lot.
people that are not bothered about the changes most likely play a phantasm build or shatter build as a mesmer that doesn’t use condition at all. They won’t have to change their entire gear either.

but 80 per cent of mesmer builds are using the by trait given condition dmg as well. if an other class would face a hit this hard you would be crying here too.

exactly. and eles swirling isnt easy mode fyi. takes coordination and people who have the attention span to sit there and siwrl while your server mates go out and have fun taking down the treb. Trebs are easy mode, adapt and use a flame ram to take down walls.

I have NEVER played an Ele By the way. In fact I kind of despise them. But they should NOT have this skill removed.

Mesmers are the slowest class in the game.
Mesmers are forced into 3 builds in this game (bunker, shatter, glamour)

This is why I am even MORE kitten …. I made a glamour build with Apothecary gear. its around 4.5 gold for each piece of Apothecary piece and you CAN NOT purchase it with any type of tokens. I did this because i hated the heals with the mesmer. My best bet now is to get black lion salvage kits and pray to get I get even a fraction of the cost in ectos ( which I was GOING to use to craft my abyssal scepter…)

I hope that once ANet nerfs everything into the ground, and many players decide to jump to the next new awesome game, that all of these people complaining about confusion (or whatever else) just because it killed them stay here.

It certainly would be a nice change to just have the bad and lazy players get stuck with the crap they created while the rest of us can have a game where player skill matters, and the devs actually encourage growth as a player, and they actually think before change things so all the hours I spent getting my gear haven’t been wasted…. something to hope for, I guess…

To be fair, 12 stacks of confusion was pretty kitten unfair and too easily reached using a Mesmer. Even if the target cleansed it off right away they still take one hit of 2k+ damage. now it will be 1k+ damage, which still hurts but isn’t omg I cant do anything with 12+ stacks of confusion bad.

This was sure nerf. Come on… I play warrior banner with a build and gear i like and whenever I would encounter a zerg using stacks of confusions i had to switch to pvt gear soldier’s rune and healing shouts traited with 3 shouts to clean up to 4 conditions in 30sec timeframe + the heal+3condition removal (total 7cleanse). I hate to HAVE to play specific build to keep my zerg and myself alive, I had a specific gear and a set up specially to counter this OP mesmer stack of confusion so now at least we will be able to play like we want. When a specific build push others to run another specific build to counter it then something is broke. TY Anet to fix that.

account bound aint gonna change the fact, that all the grinding was for nothing as most of the mesmer builds got destroyed with that nerf. You are joking right? All my damage pretty much comes from Confusion. The only other way I can damage is my Warden ( which rarely does any damage since all you have to do is move two clicks in any other direction. UNLESS i combod it to shoot more confusion out) or my Warlock. BOTH which usually die within a matter of seconds.

I do understand your post.. but taking away 50% of their damage is pretty much destroying the build. There are way better support builds for Mesmers and who would want to play Glamour support?

Confusion needed a nerf, I cleanse confusion the best I can, have 3 utils that cleanse my resolve, every 10s I remove 2 conds, and the rate you can stack it back is just dumb, literally if a mesmer knows how to use confusion, you run outa cleanses because he doesn’t use all his confusion skills just enough to give you enough stacks to have you cleanse and continuously does so. The way a good mesmer stacks confusion is either they force you to attack killing yourself eventually because you run out of cleanses or buries it under other conditions so even after you manage to cleanse it hes filling you up with it again, and if you don’t attack, you either run or get auto attacked dead because he doesn’t need to even try.

Pretty sure its “nerfed” in sPvP and im sorry but its still a threat there too, the nerf hitting even at least wvw is well due. You have enough utility that a nerf to you’re basically marquee condition isn’t gonna really kill you guys, just learn something other than glamour mesmer.

FYI: if you have issues with thieves don’t build glass and learn to cc, shadow refuge is fairly easy to take care of you just have to knock them out once, its only an issue if they have stability granting teammates around, oh shadow refuge revive, knockback where the downed guy was. Maybe actually learn to pvp instead of just blowing all your CD’s at the start of the fight in hope of winning in a quick burst fest. And I’m sorry in pvp conditions are actually way more useful than direct dmg, because if someone knows how to apply them, you run out of cleanses and theyre still putting conditions back on you.

I think I’m going to respec into shatter build… I just don’t want to have to regrind all my armor/weapons/trinkets again… Kinda wish there was a way to turn in armor/weapons/trinkets for a different set of stats each time the nerf bat hit. Even if it was a half the price it would help at little for the loss of time.

This is exactly why I will probably end up quitting. I am not going to refarm a diff set or another character just to have that build go down the kittenter once people who don’t know how to play start complaining about it.
