There’s a heart in Dredgehaunt Cliffs (40-50 area) south of Hoelbrak where you can buy cherries (and almonds) from the heart NPC with karma once you’ve completed it. The area the heart can be found within this zone is called Snowslide Ravine.
The fine materials make it difficult to level any of the armor professions or any of the weapon professions. Also, as already pointed out, since the cooking nerf, the fine material drop has gotten even worse. I think the easiest profession to level is jewelry making as it doesn’t require tons of karma ingredients (and also some rare drops) like cooking nor the fine ingredients that all the other professions require,
My main is chef/tailor who is stuck about 20 levels behind in crafting tailored items (level 30 armor when she is level 53) & though I plan to level all crafting professions eventually, right now I’m only focusing on the armor professions (rather than the weapon ones) due to the shortage of fine materials (yes, I refuse to pay more for these items on the TP than what I can sell my crafted gear for).
I’d prefer any way to sell the cooking items I make since most sell for far below what it cost to make them on the TP & selling to any merchant isn’t an option either. Nor can you use the mystic forge to offload extra items like you can with the other crafting professions. ArenaNet seriously dislikes chefs in my opinion.
This wasn’t the case in GW1 so I doubt that this is going to change. Once I get a full stack of materials, I move it to a bank storage tab so that I can still drop new items with the “deposit collectibles” feature as I am eventually planning on maxing all 8 crafting disciplines. However, once I get past an item level on all professions, I’ll probably start selling my extra stacks on the TP or donating them to my guild bank.
Yeah I was talking to a guildie earlier about cooking and the Peppercorn change just recently made Cooking go from elite to Legendary
I understand they wanna make it harder to get things you need to craft cooking items with but Holy crap HOW hard do you wanna make it?
Too Hard and Nobody is gonna cook except for the crazy hardcore wackos with nothing but spare time on their hands
a Good start at changing this back would be putting Peppercorns BACK on the merchants as purchasable either Coins or Karma I don’t give a Skritt’s Behind
But please let’s not make things harder than they actually have to be?
You can gather the peppercorns now; I believe young herbs have a chance to give them to you, although the mature herbs in the higher zones might also drop them.
Yes, this is correct. However, /laugh @ [target] says that your character laughs with your target. :p
And /emote works the same as /e in giving you custom emotes, though I’ve never tried just /emote.

However, it would be possible to reduce this load on the queues by allowing PvE people to enter and explore the battlegrounds whilst the matches are resetting. It could say match is over, everyone back to LA and then allow people to enter the map such that everyone is friendly and cannot attack each other for a few minutes so they can run about ticking points off before being told everyone back to LA, hostilities resume in two minutes…
This would be great & I could really get behind this idea. Right now, the WvW is a zerg fest & the other server owns the whole map so it’s practically impossible for a PvEr like me to get in there & get this done.
We used to do a guild event called Choose Your Own Adventure / Random Adventure night where the guild member with the highest dice roll out of 100 got to pick what we did. Someone added a dice roll option onto our voice chat program, but I’d prefer to have the dice roll back in-game personally.
Actually, in order to make some of the gem purchases actually worth it, we should have the option to display our town clothes / costumes even in combat. We had this option in GW1 and many other MMO’s have a costume slot that allows you to wear your costume at all times. Give us this option too, please. Because I’m not spending gems to buy town clothes / costumes that I can rarely display while in-game as I spend most of my time out in the different zones.

I totally agree with this. 100% map completion is mainly all through PvE. Why are the four WvW maps included with this? In really seems to be primarily a PvE achievement & I doubt many of the strict PvPers will bother with it.
By forcing PvErs to clear those maps, it just clogs up the WvW queues with people who don’t really want to be there but want to get this achievement or their monthly achievement. Removing the WvW requirements from these achievements will help keep WvW to those who actually want to do it.
ArenaNet promised that this game would have something for everyone, but by adding this PvP element to a primarily PvE achievement as well as to the monthlies, it’s requiring many who don’t want to do WvW to do it mainly to get these achievements done.
Frankly, I’m more concerned about the map completion requirement as I don’t know if I care enough about the monthly achievements to do WvW each & every month.
I have 50/50 on my HoM in GW & I am a God Walking Amongst Mere Mortals and you did not have to get into PvP to do this. I did do some z-elite trapping (which is PvP) for the z-keys but you could also buy them from players.
Also, you could turn in the zaishen coins you got from doing the zaishen missions, the zaishen bounties, the zaishen vanquishes (most of which are not PvP related) for the z-keys too. It takes longer, but it can be done. So I have to respectfully disagree with the above statement that you needed to get into PvP when there were PvE ways around getting the 3 points for the so-called PvP title.
So if you’re comparing to GW1, there was an albeit slower way, but a possible way to get the achievement solely through PvE and that is all we are asking for here.
I tried to do WvW once so far. The server match-up was not the best (we were getting our butts kicked by a very strong PvP home server with large PvP guilds on it). I played for maybe 10-20 minutes, died two or three times & killed 2 people. Not exactly my idea of a fun. Who wants to play WvW when there’s not a snowball’s chance of winning? Even a fellow guild member who plays WvW pretty heavily wasn’t playing much if any WvW during this particular server match-up. Once the weeks long match-ups start, I’m sure this will be even more of a problem.
Oh, I can totally get behind this idea. On a related note, any zone you have mapped 100% should have reduced teleporter fees as well. Once the entire map is explored 100%, you get a further reduction in waypoints.
Yes, but I’ve heard people who are enthusiasts of WvW complain about people spending too much time in the starter zones or buying gear in the WvW maps costing their team the possible win as the rest of the team can’t compensate for their lack of activity. They are suggesting that such players be kicked from the map after x mins of not fighting.
To require WvW kills for the monthly achievements & clearing all 4 WvW maps to get 100% map completion & the gifts of exploration needed to craft legendary weapons, you are forcing PvErs & RPers to attempt WvW but not really contribute much to the map & be a hindrance to your team.
I understand that in GW1 you had to map Jade Quarry & Fort Aspenwood to get 100% map completion, but it was much simpler to map those areas & still fight (especially since the number of people allowed in at one time was much more limited than it is in WvW).
I for one (PvEr here) would be happy if the WvW maps were removed from the 100% map completion requirement & if this monthly achievement was edited as suggested above.
I salvage all whites & blues (especially the light & medium armor) so I get crafting materials (since you can’t gather the jute, leather, wool, cotton, etc.) & I save most of my greens & above (that I can’t use on that character) for the mystic forge or for alts if I really like the skin.
Also, in order to max your monthly achievements, you need to either play a lot to get enough salvage item drops or salvage some of your more common gear.
Making the guilds truly global would work too. I just want to be able to game with all my friends (sort of like ArenaNet promised me before launch that I’d be able to do) & help out with their guilds when we’re doing activities together.
For someone like me, who is pretty much solely a PvEr, being limited from being truly global just because of something like WvW is frustrating. The only reason I’ll ever be WvWing is for my monthly achievements & apparently, in order to get 100% map completion so I can get the gift of exploration needed to craft legendary weapons.
I would also love a way to chat with other guilds I am a member of regardless of representing. To not have this feature makes joining multiple guilds a little bit pointless.
Yeah, I am pretty much always only in my special chat tab in which I’ve enabled guild, party, whispers & say on. The map chat gets too inflammatory at times, so I hardly ever look at it.
Totally agree that the waypoint costs should be area-based & not level based. You just don’t earn enough in rewards from heart quests / dynamic events in low-level areas to justify the cost of waypoint travel & armor repair in those areas. I think both the waypoint costs & armor repair costs should be scaled by area; if our level is effectively downscaled, the rest should be as well.
I would also love to have free travel to your racial city or to the closest city to the map you are in (if you are defeated, I am OK with having a set fee to travel to a waypoint, but if you are alive, this should be free).
Before I had any actual exposure to the multiple guilds system in GW2, I thought it was a great idea. But the way that ArenaNet has chosen to implement it has fallen short of my expectations. I am an officer in a guild that was in an alliance in GW1 & I belong to that guild & to the guild that ran / lead our GW1 alliance.
I thought I’d be able to possibly join guilds of friends outside my GW1 alliance in GW2; however, as I didn’t coordinate home servers with those friends, this isn’t really feasible. They are on different home servers & even if I guested with them (once that becomes available), I’d never be able to give them any influence since I’m not on the same server as them. So who would want me to join their guild knowing that even representing them wouldn’t give them any influence?
Change the system so that different characters can have different home servers; then I can set aside an alt character to play with my other friends on their own servers & in their own guilds & actually earn them some influence. From what I understand, many other MMO’s (such as WoW) already operate this way (I’ve never played anything besides GW1 so I’m just going by what I’ve heard).
Also, bring back the alliances! I miss my alliance chat. My main guild is a smaller, close-knit family-type guild & I liked having the alliance for bigger events & such. I wouldn’t mind a feature being implemented where I could choose on certain occasions (such as alliance events) to have my influence split with 55%-60% going to my primary guild & the rest split among the alliance guilds.
Oh, I totally agree with this thread! It’s so ridiculous to have two-handed weapons cost just as much as the one-handed weapons & off-hand items. I agree with cutting down the main hand weapons to 3/5 of the price of the two-handed weapons & the off-hand weapons to 2/5 of the price of the two-handed weapons. Until they change this in-game, I won’t bother to buy any one-handed weapons or off-hand weapons from karma vendors.
I have my options set to turn down the sounds from the default for almost everything except the music & dialog which may be why I hear the whisper sound. I agree it’s not as loud as it was in GW1, but it is an improvement from GW1 in that it pings with each & every whisper (instead of GW1 where it only pinged for the first whisper from a new person & you could miss subsequent whispers).
There is a sound in-game when you get or send a whisper to someone.
I totally agree & this was changed in one of the game updates as I recall giving my copper tools to an alt when my main was finished with the starter areas. I don’t understand the reason for making them soulbound. Perhaps account bound, but soulbound is crazy.
Also, ArenaNet needs to let us know before we purchase ANYTHING in game that it will become soulbound on acquire or soulbound on equip BEFORE we purchase it. I have wasted karma buying recipes for a different crafting profession as well.
