Okay, real life got in the way, so I haven’t been able to update this thread in awhile. Will do later this evening. Also I’ll PM Grouch and try and get a sticky
Try to look at it from the eyes of a beginner guys.
The NPCs award points, and give you a buff. Who wouldn’t want that?
It takes a higher level of understanding of the both the map and conquest mechanics to get that securing mid is important.
How would you guys suggest we go about teaching this to players?
Start by not giving 25 individual pts for something that has very little benefit to the team’s efforts. It’s common to see players abandon the capture objectives in order to push for both mobs at any point in the match simply because it gives them 25 pts and pushes them up the scoreboard – which leads then leads to finger pointing.
Personal scores in general should be removed, if only because of how misleading they are. If nothing else, secondary objectives should not provide more points than the primary objectives. Reduce from 25 points to 10 points. Or even better, 0 points – just grant the team points and stat buff. At least then the reward is comparable to it’s actual strategic value.
I’m interested to see how a meaningful boost to the stat buff, but making it worth 0 (or 5 to make it have some numerical value) would play out. Say +100 to each stat or +200 to power and condition damage. Sacrificing node time for a stat boost. Could be interesting (All numbers are just placeholders. Pretty sure +200 PWR and CD would be way over the top)
They just need to cap ranked games, lets say 150 games/month.
And add some token reward for ranked wins, as it was old paid game tournaments.
Vendor could sell something casual for 10 or 50 tokens, and items that would cost 100 200. So, to buy something expensive would take at least 2 month to get, having good win ratio would be benefit to get things faster.
When you reah the cap what do you do? Stay at that rank point until the end of the season? Might be cool if your newest games overwrote the rank points gained/lost from 150 games (or however many is set) ago. I think 150 might be a bit steep for most PvP players, maybe 100-125.
My own personal opinion:
I really like the idea of rounds in Courtyard, as long as the timer per round is no more than 3/4 mins. Best of 3 would fit this neatly to about the time of standard conquest games.
However:
Courtyard/Team Deathmatch, will not be a fun experience for most teams (almost 100% of losing teams) while it is a part of the “Conquest queue”. The team compositions that work for Conquest are not optimal for TDM.
How to fix this?
Suggestion 1: Allow proffession change for Courtyard only, to allow people to swap characters to fix their team comp (this would be much much better with build templates).
Suggestion 2: Separate TDM queue with hopefully more maps (could even modify existing maps to create spaces for TDM, e.g. Keep + floor infront for forest) and maybe a different amount of players (This could be 2v2, 3v3, 4v4, or even 8v8)
If the beast timer is only 10-20 seconds later, it still means the close capper can go for it after cap, without taking away players from that precious mid teamfight.
Been totally overwhelmed by exams, so again will update as soon as I have the chance. Also if anyone can be good enough to email Grouch ro someone who might sticky this, please do so
Will update soon.
Done Anyone know zkolden’s name and region?
Updated Sorry for the hiatus from updates guys. Would be easier to remember if this was stickied…hint hint :P
Bump /15chars
Updated with Jekkt’s twitch. I put you under Ele
Updated.
Also @Devs, is there any reason for this not being stickied yet? Is there something wrong with this thread compared with the last one?
Bump still hoping for a sticky so people can see all the streamers
EU or NA? I’m in an EU guild and PvP is my main focus within the guild, and we have a good number of pvp players. Always looking for more members
Updated #15char
Needs a bump for visibility. Again devs, if you are watching, a sticky would be great
As per this thread on the reddit: http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/2e3oyj/we_need_to_decide_which_tag_means_what_suggestions/
I think yellow would be perfect for guild commanders.
Thanks for clarifying
I think Ostrich Eggs plays on EU too, I’ve faced him twice in about the last two weeks. (Unless he’s only just gone NA?)
I’m pretty sure OE is from NA
Who to believe?
To start with I’ve only put in streamers that play. I haven’t put in shoutcasters. I haven’t seen Jebro play, and I don’t know his twitch. If someone would like to correct me I’d be happy to put him on
Fixed /15characters
Added all the above streamers
Readded you DoYourBestBear as well!
Dead Muppet, I assumed Three Minutes is your twitch alias? But I don’t know your region!
Still would love this stickied!
Updated both above ^^
Is it possible for this to get stickied like the old thread. I’m not sure why the previous thread was in ‘pvp events’ though?
I don’t think anyone suggested this for on-crit runes?
Agreed, the setup for Guild Wars 2 PvP is amazing, with skills and traits unlocked from the get go.
However:
Balancing a game around 1v1 does not mean that a game is automatically balanced. Even if theoretically all classes were balanced for 1v1, some classes would still be better than others for teamfighting and support by their very nature.
By the same token, a game does not require 1v1 balance in order to be well balanced. Balance by definition is both teams having an equal chance to win without a mirror match-up, i.e. different builds/classess/whatever. We already have this.
Yes there are very powerful builds and very weak builds, and rangers aren’t in the best spot. But that doesn’t mean the game is unbalanced, as pretty much every viable build has a place, even if that is niche.
I know this isn’t a moba, but if we compare “builds” in GW to “champions” in league of legends, then we can see how this works. League of legends has well over 100 champions, and almost every single one has a slightly different role. Some are weak and some are strong. But they all have a place, and something unique about them that makes them interesting/fun to play/viable. But they don’t have to all be the strongest! Often the strongest champions change with the meta without even direct changes, and previously “weak” champions become the top picks with zero buffs! I feel guild wars isn’t as well balanced as league, but it also isn’t too far off.
The top teams try new things, breaking the metamold and showing something else is viable. Hell, Toxic Communication showed how a full power necro can turn 55HP Monks into mush with the plays.
You can fit many different builds into a team and make something work around it. Some are weak and some are strong atm, but as I said, I think they all have a place. The important thing is that these are dynamic, i.e. capable of change.
So I agree with your last point, but not the means. I appreciate the discussion of balance though, and this is a useful discussion
Fixed a couple of typos and missed names It will be good to have some one playing ranger when the new balance patch hits
No problem BLU! Btw congratz on getting to gamescom, I contributed what I could
Done (and followed!) Could you tell me your region as well?
Added you, but dzindzin’s last recent broadcast was less than a week go, so I’ll leave him for now.
I want to keep this thread alive for you guys. Would be helpful to get this as a sticky though!

EDIT: Made a guess and put you as Multi/NA for now.

All updated guys I would be grateful for any follows from streamers, I follow everyone I put on this list to spread the streaming love <3
EDIT: Also, if anyone feels the message I edited in is in bad taste, then let me know and I’ll remove it. I don’t want to seem like I made this thread for self-publicity, I just think we would do better by supporting each other.

Thanks for the headsup. They were both bordlerline, but I they had both done GW2 in the last month so I thought they may do some more. Oh dear, how could I forget Tage?! I’m watching him right now….

Readded! Again apologies for missing you off! It’s often hard to tell if someone is still an active streamer when they don’t have recent “Recent Broadcasts”

Hey guys! I really liked the old streaming thread, but it was so out-of-date I thought I would take the time to update the list. All I’ve done is delete the channels that didn’t appear to have streamed since the April patch.
If you were on the last list, but not on this and you regularly stream, then just post down here that you want to be put back on (I must have just missed you/there were no recent broadcasts for GW2).
As with the last thread, please feel free to submit streams below, this will be updated regularly.
EDIT: I’ll be following everyone I add to this list because I think GW2 streamers need as much publicity and numbers as they can get and I really enjoy watching anyone pvp. I will greatly appreciate anyone following me, especially other streamers and players wishing to learn more about pvp (I’m at the bottom of multiclass).
EDIT2: As the list gets longer, I’d like to trim down the streamers that don’t appear to be active. If you know anyone in this list who has taken a long break, or permenantly stopped streaming GW2, reply here, or PM me and let me know.

I feel this guide is a little biased against 1 bunker team comps, when high tier competitive teams are doing very well with low amount of bunkers. Team Mist/TCG doesn’t run two bunkers, so why should a team with just this comp be unlikely to win?
Don’t get me wrong, I think this is fantastic and well written, but maybe reconsider your opinion on single bunker teams. Out playing your opponents and rotating faster than slow bunkers is often more important.
This would be interesting to try. I can see the potentially advantages. Question is whether it would live up to it in practice.
Maybe just initially as an option for hot-join servers?
I think this would be a great option for hotjoins, and it would be a good way to see how the game plays out without a downed state.
But I wouldn’t say it would necessarily be an improvement. Downed state is there for a reason, and allows counterplay to high burst builds and interesting comebacks.
