Keenan, that did indeed resolve my audio balance issues, thank you so much. The issue of missing audio devices in the GW2 sound options panel remains, but no longer impacts me in any meaningful way since my default device is my G35 headset.

Once again, thank you.

I have a similar problem. All of my sound device options were gone except for default device (used to have 6 different audio devices listed), and while unplugging and re-plugging my headset while the game was running fixed it, the problem resumed as soon as I restart the game, meaning I have to unplug and re-plug my headset every time I launch the game.

The real difference is that I have always had a problem with in game audio. When I used to launch the game I would have the music playing normally, but the menu and combat sounds would only (or predominantly) play from the right side. I used to go to audio device and swap off of my Logitech G35 headset to one of the other options, then swap back to my G35, all sounds would then play normally. I had to do this before loading into the game proper, in other words while I was still on character select, or it would not work to fix my audio balance issues. Also if I launched the game and my audio device was on anything other than my G35 at start then I would be unable to fix anything no matter how much I swapped between devices, I would have to set the device to G35 and then exit out of the game and log back in, at which point I could do my swapping to fix the balance. No amount of audio driver or OS twiddling has ever resolved this, but since I had a work-around I did not consider it that big of a deal.

That is what used to be the case. What is now happening is that I launch the game and I only have default device in the audio device drop down menu. So my audio is right balanced and I can’t do anything about it. I unplug and re-plug my G35 and I get all the options back in the drop down, but no amount of swapping between devices will rebalance my non-music, game audio (such as the menu and combat sounds).

I have however discovered that putting my G35 into dolby surround mode will cause all my sounds to play normally, but, I find dolby surround to be annoying and slightly disorienting, I would prefer to not play the game with this headset mode enabled.

Anyway, since playing with all of my in game sounds completely right balanced is nauseating and makes the game unplayable, I will be playing in dolby surround until this audio device business is sorted.

Thanks for your time.

This happens to me too, though so far only in WvW, and so far it seems to happen when I get hit by a catapult or trebuchet shot, though only infrequently. It is as if some component of the client with regards to sound gets overloaded during extremely loud moments and just dies, leaving me with pulsating tone in my left ear. I do not use any other sound related software, such as Pandora or voice chat, while playing, so I doubt that it is the problem. Simply logging out and back in has always fixed it so far.
