Although I doubt this will get a response, I am here to ask advice from a rep from Arenanet.
I have exclusively played S/D Elementalist through thick and thin the last 9 months or so. I the current state of tPvP, I have ran into a brick wall. In solo Q, I had some success initially. However, after a few losses to double bunker teams vs. no bunker, 4v5’s and some disparity in experience on my team vs. the other, I have dropped to around 30% on the leaderboards. This is a HUGE hole to climb out of for anyone, but seems to be nearly impossible for an Elementalist.
In team PvP, there is about a 1% chance to find a decent team to take an Elementalist, which is usually after they ask every ranger, necro, thief, and engineer on their contacts list and in the Mists.
My question for Anet is what should I do?
1. Roll a different profession.
2. Instead of trying to climb UP the leaderboards, instead see if it’s possible to grab the BOTTOM of the board. Who knows, maybe games are fun at 1%.
3. Stick exclusively to Hotjoins, where I obviously belong on an Elementalist.
4. Something else that I must be missing.
Thank you in advance!
There is no PTR. If there was, we most likely wouldn’t be in the state we are.
Can“t talk wvw, but my elementalist (0 30 10 0 30) with zerker amulet, scholar runes and sigill of air on scepter can 1o1 very well, and it even gets easier on less squishy specs.
Just a few necromancers or warriors CAN cause problems. But mostly I will win.
No problems with thieves? Thieves are my hard counter on this build.
This thread has a ton of good ideas, although I think a lot of them would take a ton of time to implement. My somewhat easier solution is to leave abilities the way they are and add 350-400 vitality on all amulets and remove down state in tpvp. Make us work for a kill by using teamwork and combos instead of being bursted down in a gcd and without downed state, people can run utilities that they enjoy rather than one that is required to rez a teammate.

1. Gear normalization. I don’t want to have to grind gear to be on a level playing field.
2. Build diversity. I know that sounds dumb to top level players, but I like making random builds and trying them out. They aren’t always extremely viable, but I like the ability to completely change what I bring to a fight. The current fresh air burst else build is the first fotm build I have used.
3. tPvP. This should bring some ridicule, but I like hopping in a random premade with ts or just joining solo q. Even if I run up against a much higher tier premade, I enjoy trying to at least make the fights competive and fun. The only thing I don’t like is the elitist attitudes I run into sometimes. Like a r10-20 smurf character raging about how bad his team sucks losing to a premade on ts, which is honestly kinda humorous.
4. Class imbalance/changing. I’m really not trolling here. As much as people hate it, I have to admit I like how the balance of power shifts and keeps me learning how to play against each class.
