But on to the point of explorable modes not being heavily story driven. Why does the new aetherpath in Twilight Arbor still have unskippable cutscenes and needlessly long dialogues? This is a major reason a lot of players avoid the path.
This is a perfect example of why heavily driving a lot of lore and story into something that is intended to be a group re-playable experience isn’t a great idea, and something typically we try and avoid. Thus the challenge here, to get across these cool stories, without the cost of the pacing of the fractal experience!
An idea would be to incorporate Lore Scrolls that can be earned by completing achievements within the fractals or made to be a drop kinda like the blueprints from bags that when you piece them all together, you get the Lore story told either through a cinematic or a simple slide show with text, similar to the new Atlas content. This would allow players to experience the Lore outside of the fractal and not weigh down the team waiting on a cinematic to complete. I think it would be really cool to have the chance to experience some lore like the Edge of Steel in the Arena fighting gladiator style, or even reliving a dragonspawn battle with Destiny’s Edge. Seeing the dwarven race driven underground…..I am sure you get the picture. Have the scrolls pertain to the story related to the fractal in which it came.
Proposal Overview
Ability to recycle or mystic forge Ascended Rings
Goal of Proposal
To have the ability to salvage or put ascended rings in the mystic forge for a chance at Essence material, Agony Infusion or Ascended material, fractal mini’s or fractal potions.
Proposal Functionality
Make fractal salvage kits purchased with relics to salvage fractal items and open up the mystic forge to accept multiple ascended rings at a chance for a different one or fractal skin. This means you would have to run at least 16 fractals or 4 full fractal runs for just a chance at a skin using the rings you’ve been awarded if you get them. May take more.
Associated Risks
1. Increase in Essence material and AR infusions in the game.
I’m a warrior myself. I don’t join groups with a ranger/necro/engi and when one joins the group after me, I leave. My dungeon/fractal experience has significantly improved ever since.

First of all let me say I am not debating that drops have gotten worse or that rewards shouldn’t be improved for the amount of time spent completing fractals. I am only stating my stats as of the last patch:
I have run about 10 or 12 complete fractal runs or (48) fracs since the last patch on Feb. 4th which means 1 or 2 per day @ levels 20 – 49 and have managed….
3 – Skins (Longbow, Sceptor & Focus) all from lvl 49 runs
1 – Ascended Weapons Chest (1 Cleric stats from a lvl 22 run)
I will say that I have seen my fair share of empty chests at the end of runs as well where all you get is the pristine relic and gold but overall I would say I must be in the minority of those who have seen a drop off in loot.
Multiple times there have been more than 1 in my group who has received a weapon skin or chest.
I will mention that prior to this run of good fortune, I only managed 1 ascended weapons chest in about 260 fractals ran.
My Stats: typically run anywhere from 165% – 185% magic find
I have ran a total of 319 fractals overall
Currently Level 49
I do agree the Dredge fractal needs to be changed as this fractal alone can add 45 min to the overall run even if you have a superior group running it because of ad respawn rates and sheer dredge numbers. With a solid group, you should be able to complete all 4 fracs in a run within 1 to 1.5 hrs.
