Constructive Renegade Feedback... Attempt??

I really loved your initiative here!

I like most of your suggestions and I honestly love some of them. I think all the flavour ones are spot-on and it’d be great if the devs got to implement them.

I also thought about your Shortbow #3 suggestion. It’d be really cool to be able to change the trail angle of the arrows from this ability. It’d basically mean that we can use it to its full potential with targets that are closer than 900 range and increase the skill it takes for somebody to use it properly. What I’d like to see is that the meeting point for the projectiles is marked by the mouse pointer, while the projectiles would still run for 900 range. It’d increase the possibilites and chaos that this skill brings to the table!

Regarding Kalla’s Fervor, I understand why they’d be afraid of letting us share it with allies. It could be countered, however, by removing our stacks when we shared the Fervor, so we need to build it and then share it and so on. I’m not too sure if F2 could be used for that end when traited, but then I love being able to have 10 stacks on, so… maybe remove the F3-enhancing trait and make it sort of baseline? Then we could free up a GM that makes F2 increase in energy but allows us to share Kalla’s Fervor instead of might? That’d be nice since we’d have 3 competing (and amazing) GM traits that allow us to support our allies depending on the situation or strategy, through Fervor, Alacrity or Might generation.

I know you didn’t want to get into balance but… I got an idea for some (or maybe all) of the utilities. The elite skill is bonkers amazing and we could learn from its design. And that’s thanks to the fire field it brings with it. I think it’d be really amazing if we could provide fields through our utilities (maybe not 10-second fields, mind you). The healing would clearly benefit a bunch from having a water field (2-3 blasts with mace? I’d fell in love). The other clear candidate would be the Icerazor dude: as the name implies, make it an Ice field and let it synergize with Corruption better. I think the rest of the utilities are good enough, mechanically. But then it’d give it more consistency if they gave a poison or ethereal field (for the bleeding charr) and dark (for the dazing charr). It’d be as simple as a 2-sec field, but it could clearly improve the utility and support possibilities of Kalla’s legend. Regarding flavour… I’d go all the way and call them Echos since lorewise it’d make sense for the warband to be a temporal echo from Kalla’s revolution and it makes them feel more detached from Ritualist’s spirits and their own thing. I think of them as Kalla’s memories of her lost warbands materializing from the mists. Also, there’s the paragon connection right there.

So cool that you started this thread! I have big hopes for the Renegade and this changes could really make it feel more unique.

Thanks!

Do we have a firm date for the finale?

Well.. I was fully hoping we’d get the trailer tomorrow (meaning we’d get S3E6 on 07/18). However, after reading they are going to address the Outnumbered pip abusing “in the next release” and the lack of updates for 3 weeks now, I’m starting to believe we will get a generic/current events release tomorrow.

Therefore, we’d get the trailer on either 07/18 or (Mordremoth forbid) 07/25, thus having the release on 07/25 or 08/01. This would make sense since they could therefore throw everything expansion-wise for Gamescon.

It pains me it’ll be like that, since that’d mean we wouldn’t get the expansion until next year =(. My reasoning here’s that they’ll want to refine the bugs and their design decisions for the new elite specs in betas. But that should be after they’ve unveiled them all (or almost all). This would take 2 months at the very least. Here’s hoping they will show the expac before and have a beta ready for Gamescon with some elite specs already uncovered.

Sigh…

Team composition depends entirely on the players. I find myself constantly re-rolling at the beginning of the match when I see that we are 4 necros or something like that. People are just too lazy to change chars. My point being that composition is not random, you can always do something about it.

Sometimes you have to be harsh to make people listen. ANET have been persistently ignoring community requests/suggestions regarding the direction of game development in pvp and wvw for several years now. Their hubris is truly staggering and worthy of a Greek tragedy. Their nemesis in the form of multiple new mmo releases is also rapidly approaching. What a shame.

Anet have been persistently telling the community that we should communicate properly: constructive, well-explained and highly specific feedback is what devs seek from us, so that they may easily implement a solution to the specific problem. Being nice instead of sardonic will also help your cause. Venting or threatening them to leave the game in the forums will not.

Balance is a subjective term, and it depends on who you ask. For us warriors, 2014 was they year you can include thieves as well.

And also you should get mad at people who are disappointed in the system. In 2012/2014, you would have been this guy.

Honestly, I would have pointed (as many people did) why my profession was underperforming instead of simply saying balance is bad in the pvp forums. As sad as it is to admit, there will never be “true” balance. But as I’ve said good feedback (and being specific about your issues, giving examples, etc.) will allow the devs to properly change the stuff that’s truly not working.

Unhappy/Confused about Matchmaking

IMO, some of you are pretty spot on, including OP. This is how a league should work, best people rise, bad people stay at lower divisions. The more pips you are able to obtain (and maintain) the better at playing you are. That simple.

I fully agree with that, with a caveat: Some sort of pre-season matches should’ve been performed to determine where everyone should’ve been placed. That way people wouldn’t have this frustrating experience.

On the other hand I’m kinda glad those who tanked their MMR to get to legendary last season are now struggling to find good matches. That’s what you get for cheating. Besides, every time I’ve been teamed up with primordial legends we’ve lost the match, so maybe I’m a bit salty with cheaters…

I don’t wanna be that guy but… you do realize that this sort of feedback does nothing to improve the game, don’t you?

For starters, OP has gone to the pvp forums at the beginning of a season with whacky matchmaking (to say the least) just so that they may feed off other people’s frustrations with any part of the game. What’s exactly the point of this post? Venting?

Regarding balance… as a 2-year Necro player I don’t want to go back to 2014 balance. I get that there may be people out there that feels as Necros did two years ago when nobody wanted their class, or their minions where the most broken part of the game, or we could not life-siphon properly or… you get my point. Balance is not perfect with such a complex combat system, but I don’t think it was any better in 2014 than it is now, unless you understand balance as having the top-tier profession as your main.

profession stacking?

Uete.3805

Well, since you can change your profession before the match begins it makes little sense for the matchmaker to take professions into account when sorting out the teams. Another isssue would be why do people not change their proff before a match, but that’s another question for another day =)

Rev downstate and slow changes

in Revenant

Haven’t been able to see the actual damage values written in the gw2 wiki, but my impression is that revenant’s downstate 1 skill is quite undertuned in damage compared to others (I mostly play necro too, so I might be biased in that regard). Is it though? Can anybody confirm or deny it? I’m okay with it since slow is amazing right now but:

After reading today’s skill balance blogpost and seeing the changes to slow… I’m kinda worried for our downstate in pvp now. Will it be taken into account (increasing downstate #1 skill damage) or will we die a not-at-all-slow death once we hit downstate?

Do enlighten me. =)

Necro's place in raids hope

I’ve found that well of corruption works wonders against mordrem menders, but maybe that’s a discussion for another day (I also expected more boons going around, honestly).

With raids in mind, it will really depend on the encounters, if your group is lacking a sword mesmer or a mallyx revy you can more than suffitiently take the roll of boon corrupter, but I think we can do better than that. Transfusion and Last Rites seems to have been designed for the first boss encounter, when the floor becomes deadly and you need to save a bunch of dead bodies from dying altogether. Add some sustain from vampiric aura and the fact that doing it right you become an unkillable machine with Blood magic. Sounds fun.

Spicing Up Corruptions

in Necromancer

I also think that all of these changes at the same time, might be on the OP side of the equation, however they are good food for thought. Take the removal of blind and weakness, for example. These two seem to indicate the designers made these changes with the idea of really crippling the necromancer for not getting rid of their conditions, essentially forcing you to transfer them for a higher effect and as other people have commented if you design corruptions to go with transfers there really is no easy task of balancing them around increasing their power, while increasing their penalty unless you can’t transfer that penalty.

Plague, on the other hand… YES PLEASE? I mean… plague of Hysteria alone should be implemented (at least). It’d be ridicoulously funny to see everybody running for their lives amidst the plague cloud. It’s an amazing idea just for the laughs. The other ideas could also work really well. Again it might be on the OP side, but that plague of hysteria thing just killed me with laughter. It needs polish, but seems like an awesome idea.

Great post!

Druid Healer Confirmed - Feedback [merged]

Yeah, I disagree too. As others have said, it seems more a case of personal preference than reality.

Regarding magic use: Reaper got a hold for Ice magic, Chrono got Time magic, both of them sort of (tangentially) related to their vanilla Professions. Druid does seem to go a different route, but then again we already can use a Sun spirit and Call of the Wild depicts a giant Moon when cast. To me it seems they are pushing it into that celestial direction, broading the sense of Natural magic to include the stars which are also part of Nature. The moon, the sun, any celestial body IS a part of the natural world, which turns out to be anything but chaotic in nature, or we’d have the planets colliding into each other. Specially at the astronomical level, nature is anything but chaotic. And the mists (which depict a far more chaotic version/explanation for reality) belong to the Revy, so… not following you on that one either.

Upcoming Revenant changes for BWE3

First of all: I (and probably most Rev gruppies in here) can’t thank Roy enough for all the effort he’s put into the profession and want to tell him that I (hopefully we) are glad he’s so active and hears to our feedback.

However… I’m jumping in the “Don’t change ma Mallyx!” bandwagon. I main Necro and loved playing with the “original” legend iteration. There are plenty of other ways it could have been changed and, while I agree that we need to test it first before judging it, I can’t stop thinking it might be too late to overhaul how the whole legend worked and what it made Mallyx so awesome. I’m hoping some more changes are made to it (either to go back to the previous iteration or to make it more unique), especially for EtD, which right now would be quite lackluster for an Elite skill…

In this post (and others) there were several propositions to maintain Mallyx’s originality and theme while making it more useful overall and, particularly, in groups:

· Obtain a charge each time you condition yourself (for some amount of time) to trigger (or count towards) the better effects for legend skills tied to the number of conditions on you, or make it so that depending on the number of charges EtD pulses some number of random conditions.
· Don’t self-corrupt but make EtD affect enemy conditions (more stacks?, more length?, more dangerous?, no cleansing?) while making UA transfer conditions (from Pain absorption?) or directly merge banish enchantment with the leap and create a completely new skill for UA?

I don’t know, I liked the riskier feeling of good old Mallyx and would like to see it pushed a little further than the vanilla BWE3 iteration we’ve been presented with.

Sorry if it’s been sort of a harsh post. Long live the Legendary Demon Stance!

Actually, I first entered water as a Herald with aspects of elements, darkness and strength activated… and they kept giving me their boons, even though I couldn’t manually select them (I even got the aura circle at the bottom of the basin). So there’s that. I don’t know if it’s a bug, but seemed to work quite well.

Druid and "Forge" test weekend?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Uete.3805

Uete.3805

They don’t need their own weekend, the next testing round is this coming weekend, lets see what happens this week. Maybe they will announce them both.

I stated in another thread, most people don’t even want to test their inner child is coming out and they’re screaming gimme gimme gimme at the new shiny. Just wait until they announce them like every other class they have announced.

I highly doubt they would be included in this week’s BWE, especially if the build they’re showing is been locked for a couple weeks (this is speculation based on the fact some Dragonhunter changes couldn’t be implemented on time for it, and we’ve known about them for a week+) and basically given they were not included in the list of playable specs for the beta.

Anyway, after playing Reaper and seeing the AMAZING changes that were implemented based on BWE1 player feedback, I think these events aren’t just for show, but to tackle elite specs and HoT balance in a serious way. Therefore I keep thinking more testing = better balancing when the expansion launches.

There might be an issue with the timing between BWE and a possible Druid and Forge test weekend based on the idea they need to lock their game build for internal testing. Looking at the way they’ve shown and changed the balance of the specs, I’d say we may see the results from BWE2 feedback next week. They could potentially schedule the new BWE3 3 weeks after that (10/2-10/5). Therefore if testing for the e-specs happened 9/18 (after Druid and Forge are properly revealed during the previous two weeks) they may have to push BWE3 another week, which puts it frighteningly close to launch… It’s not a perfect option, but an option nonetheless.

Druid and "Forge" test weekend?

So… what would you guys think if Anet provided us with a test weekend ONLY for these two elite specializations (Ranger and Engineer), given they won’t be in the second BWE and they will only be played at the third one?

I’m really hyped to know more about these two and I’m also really sad and concerned (along many others) they wouldn’t get enough attention/balance if they are only shown during BWE3. We’ve already seen something like this was done for Revenant in July (where they gave weaponswap to Rev), so it wouldn’t be such a leap to do the same for the last elite specs revealed, would it?
