No, a thousand times, no.
How can I do anything else in this game after spended more than 7 hours on daily, then go to work for another 8 hours?
Patient: Doctor, it hurts when I do this.
Doctor: So don’t do that.
I find it amazing that people have so little ability to control how they spend their time that they actually demand that something optional be removed because they can’t stop themselves from doing it.
And I hope that stuff about your wife was a joke, because if not, you need to delete your GW2 account and go get some marriage counselling or something. Wow.
PS Nobody actually cares what your “achievement point” rank is. Really. Honest. Stop driving yourself crazy over it.
You’re absolutely correct, guild Wars 2 has a helpful and friendly community to the point where they have people not place first when they already have it.
Since you are purposely ignoring what the community is doing for others, you have essentially became a taboo.
Now you’re complaining about the reactions of the community when you’re not helpful and friendly??? Such a disgrace.
Well. If you want to keep winning, you do have to pay the consequences of people getting upset with you for winning. Not sure why you feel the need to keep making these topics.
Because I should be able to play the game without being called names. If you don’t want to read my threads then don’t, it’s up to you.
Here’s a solution for you, don’t go in first place. Perhaps you should be part of the community, rather then be against it. You’re doing this on purpose to the point where you have made several topics about this to “rub salt” in the wounds of those who have not achieved it.
I don’t know about you, but id rather not have people like this in our community.
Maybe you’re unfamiliar with the concept of this PvP RACE.
It’s a race, against other players, to come in 1st (or 2nd or 3rd). Maybe Blue has set a person goal to come in 1st every time, and that’s fun for him. Who are you -or the people in OP image- to attack him for playing the game the way it was designed ?
You call him “a disgrace”, but you are wrong! Attacking someone who is doing nothing but playing the game and achieving the mechanic set goal is what’s disgraceful. Beggging/demanding that he stop playing the RACE properly, just so some people will cheat the system to get an Achievement they didn’t earn, is what is disgraceful.
The old list was clean, elegant, and easy to scan.
The additional categories were unnecessary. They only made the list 10 items longer and requires additional clicking to navigate to the category you want. Some categories only have a single sub-category anyways.
The individual achievement “list” is now a zigzag of icons. This makes it more difficult to scan and compare differences. The long progress bar also showed more detailed progression.
Finally, the icons only show the titles of the achievements, not what you need to do. You have hover over the icon. The old one showed the task to complete without an additional action.
Overall, the interface requires far more actions from the user to get the same amount of information.
Actually there’s a couple things wrong here. There is a requirement to grind, just not in the same way as other games. They changed their main focus to dungeons in november and when they added ascended gear they told us that it was necessary to see future content that would require a resistance to agony the new dungeon debuff in Fotm. That right there means there’s no more open world stuff of any real significance and if you want to see the real story, you’re going to have to get this gear. That’s a grind my friend, a gear treadmill. now granted it’s not here yet and they are experimenting with the living story but we have yet to hear them talk about this requirement for future content.
Second, the requirement to have currency for anything and everything is a grind, not to mention the enormous amounts of T6 materials that one needs (and can only find in three places WvW, FotM, RNG boxes) means not everyone is going to spend months getting these things together. We told them about the problems new players face in getting gear and what did we get? more RNG from bother laurels and Orr. It’s not a solution, like Dontain said in one of his most recent videos on youtube, we need less pakittena style gambling and a more direct approach.
Third, I’ve done everything I’ve wanted in a game that is not supposed to be what it’s been about now. This has been a terrible time for PVE engineers which is my main and always has been, so playing in PVE has been nothing but problematic.
I’m one of those PVE only open world only players who came to this game because of the promises of open world focused content/loot/improved crafting/minigames with pets and cosmetics as rewards. The first month I was here everything was fine and because they promised things like separating PVE PVP WVW skills to better balance them I never thought for the life of me that they would nerf my class. It’s been 8 months of nothing but, breaking every aspect of my class except PVP. Add to that the broken promises of content, and you can see why some of us complain, this was not what every prelaunch interview said it was going to be, and until they change it back or fix the things they’ve broken, yes you are going to have people like me complaining because I expect the producers of a product to make their product exactly like they’ve been telling me it’s going to be for 7 years prior to it going live. That hasn’t happened yet.
I was also one of those people who didn’t rush thru the game to reach max level, I call myself a gathcraftsplorer and chose the unofficial RP server because of the type of people I meet on RP servers. So you can see why we’re frustrated. It’s not one single thing, there’s a towering mound of stuff that’s just wrong here.
TL;DR I guess what I’m saying is not all complaints are illegitimate ones by people who have rushed to the end and realized it’s not the game for them. And there is a grind very much alive and well in this game, just because not all of the pieces are in there doesn’t mean that when they are finally loaded people aren’t going to be required to grind to get what they need on a much larger scale then what we’re seeing now.
I’m still waiting on the backpay in laurels. still hasn’t happened yet. See what I’m talking about?
Ok, so I spend quite a bit of time on these forums. Generally, I spend a lot of time on gaming forums for whichever game I happen to be playing at any given time.
Personally, I’ve played video games since the first Doom back in the 90s. I was about 7 at the time. I own a Playstation 2, a Playstation 3 and a Gameboy Advance SP. I also obviously play games on my PC.
On these forums, like every other forums, certain topics tend to repeat once a while. I don’t mind most of them, but the one thing that bugs me is people who seem to run out of things to do. These are the people I am talking about when I say “modern gamer”. People who play the game to get the top gear, to get the achievements of their choosing. These people did not exist some years ago, but now they’re all over the place, hence referring to them as “modern gamers”.
Those people seem to play the game for something else. It’s not the game that they’re playing. It seems to me that they’re more collectors of “prestige” than people trying to relax.
To me, ANet looks to have done something rather clever. Their model of no subscriptions and no real requirement for “grinding” makes the game very casual. It makes it a relaxing experience. Something you do because it’s fun, not because you’re still paying for the game for the next 12 months or because your friends are all playing and you’ll be left out if you don’t play with them. To me, it looks like ANet has tried and, to an extent, succeeded at bringing the game back to the roots. Back from the money-centric crap that we’ve seen with subscription fees and f2p games.

I, fortunately, was not banned, but I’m terrified. I don’t think I’ve done anything exploitative or banworthy, but then again, I can’t be sure that my normal gameplay doesn’t include something banworthy in the eyes of ANet.
Some disclosure and transparency with whatever the ban was, now that it has been closed, would be greatly appreciated. If we don’t know the details of the exploit, there’s a huge feeling that anyone could get banned at any time without their knowing something they did was wrong.
Do you play the game for the reward, or for the gameplay itself?
Time is a river.
The door is ajar.
We have a decent sized guild at 248 members. We have just enough influence to be able to queue guild treks when our economy level 6 is done. However, we keep losing members to guilds that already have other types of missions unlocked. We run bounties at least twice a week right now, but these other guilds are hostile towards us when we try to claim our bounties.
We have only had 1 player ever leave our guild before guild missions existed. Now we seem to have at least 1 per day. Those who respond to me when i ask why say they have joined a larger guild on our server that run these missions at least once a day.
Was this Anet’s intention? Our ability to unlock further missions relies on our active members. However, those members are the ones leaving to join larger guilds. I doubt we will lose more than 10% at any point, but this is still a knife in the heart.
The biggest problem with guild bounty, when there are multiple guilds hunting at the same time. The smaller guild that engage the boss first usually get shafted, the bigger guilds just stand there and looking at you rather than helping out. When there are a lot of people around the mob, it gets way harder. A small guild with 5-6 people can’t kill it if it scale up to 30-40 people difficulty. Also most people don’t understand, you can only get reward once a week per tier per account anyway so even if a guild does it everyday it won’t get you your stuff faster.
I agree completely. Take the really high price items for example, say precursors.
Let’s say the bottom price for X precursor is 350g and the lowest buy order is 200g, so you put yours up for 300g. An extended period of time goes by and nobody is buying. You would like to change the value you’re selling at to 250g, but in doing so your previous 5% listing fee of 15g is wasted, and you have to lose another 12.5g from an additional listing fee. The precursor prices stay high, and those that are selling are stuck.
Or look at a more common example. Let’s say you have a few stacks of X and you put them up for sale for 28c each. Let’s say through some method it took you 22c to get each of X item. In selling you would pay about 4c in tax per item, so buying for 22c and selling for 24c; net profit of 2c per X.
Let’s say the market fluctuates and 28c is simply too high, instead the common is 25-27c and nobody every buys your X for 28c. If you tried to remove all your stacks and sell for 27c, you would end up losing money. You would lose 1.4c per X from your first listing of 28c, plus an additional 4.1c per X from your next listing and selling at 27c. You’re forced to take a loss or leave your item up and wait.
If you were able to shift the price of the item you’re selling down without another listing fee, you would still be able to make a profit, and there would be more supply at a lower cost for buyers; everyone wins. You would take that 1.4c per X from your original 28c listing fee, and a selling fee of 2.7c from your 27c selling, and make 23c per X. A 1c profit is better than losing 1c per X.

its a valid tactic.
technically they are not dead anyway.
just “defeated” and unable to move around.
I’ve never understood why is that some people seem to be just looking for stuff to get offended…
