I agree with a lot of the above. Shield 4 seems to be ok. Shield 5 ability should be an instant cast and not channeled. Staff 5 there seem to be foes that can cross line of warding, I don’t know if this is tied into the same bug as the Hammer 5 ability but it does happen. I would also like for the line of warding to block all projectiles along with foes. Staff 2 ability does seem to be wonky at times but most of the time it goes where I want it to.
Just to start off don’t start a thread where you are rude from the get go, you will probably get more responses. I hesitate to post here simply because of the way you started this.
Why do you want the 20 points in Radiance? What traits are you picking up in Radiance? If you are dead set on 20 points in Radiance and don’t know what traits to pick up I would say pick up Signet Mastery and Blind Exposure.
30 points in Valor is a good choice because it will certainly increase your surviability, so stick with that. I would choose – Purity, Retributive Armor, and Altruistic Healing
If we are only working with 20 points then like some of the others posters – 5 points in Virtues is the best 5 points you can spend, period. I would put the other 15 into Honor, picking up Superior Aria.
For the weapon combos I would recommend sword and torch, mace and focus. I put them in this arrangement so you can have a blind from your weapon set no matter which set you are using. I didn’t choose shield because you are saying you want to dps.
Heal – Signet of Resolve
Utilities – Save Yourselves, Hold the Line, and Retreat
Elite – Renewed Focus
Personal opinion, that you don’t want to hear, you should have a ranged main hand weapon in one of your weapon sets. I would recommend dropping the mace and using the specter in its place. Most of the fights in dungeons that I have encountered are not melee friendly and you are constantly having to move around so being able to swap to the ranged weapon allows you to keep up your damage when you need to get out of melee range.
Good luck.
To the OP I agree the Elite abilities are fairly boring and I think that is the point of the post. I do not think the OP is asking for OP elite abilities.
Personnally, I have never used an Elite ability had the feeling, “oh !@#$” here comes my Elite ability this fight just hit a turning point and I am pretty sure none of my enemies have ever said, “Whoa, watch out for that Guardian, he just used an Elite skill” I would rather spend an additional 30 SP to be able to slot an additional Utility skill over pretty much all of my Elites except for RF.
I mean let’s at least get some cool graphical effects for the Tomes. When I use Tome of Wrath I want to be turned into a giant blue flame avatar. When I use Tome of Courage I want to sprout wings from my back and be painful to the eyes to look at for other players.
Lol, so many I don’t think read that post, I love necros, I may stop reading the Guardian forums.
Good post, I agree I would like to see us get some other boons in place of all the retaliation we get currently. Once they have gone in and swapped out some of our current ways of gaining retaliation Anet should then go back and revise the nerfs to our retaliation granting abilities.
A very solid article on the Guardian and your build Brutaly. I like your posts in the Guardian forums very positive from what I have seen.
Very solid build Silentstorm, have you ever tried your staff with this build? For a more solo playstyle I am thinking of swapping in Monk’s Focus for Altruistic Healing, Smite Condition for Purging Flames, and Sanctuary for Bow of Truth.
What runes are you running in you weapons right now?
Also nice to see somebody posting about how good the class can be as opposed to the people constantly yelling about the class being weak. Keep up the good work.
People forget that the Guardian was intended as a support class and not the top tier DPS class. RF is powerful.
Can people try to see the bigger picture and stop whining please. One buff and one nerf.

The change to RF is great and when comparing if two things are comparable you have to factor in all things. RF also resets the CD on our Virtues and those virtues can be very powerful depending on spec. Our virtues can grant might, burning damage, instant group heals, regen, aegis, protection, AOE blind, and vulnerability. Not to mention that our damage can be increased based on the number of buffs we have and we can heal ourselves for each boon we give to allies. I would say that if anything RF and its resetting of CD on virtues is more powerful than the Endure Pain utility skill of the warrior.

We should be able to transmute all items in game not just up to lvl 79. I have a set of traveler’s gear for open world pve and it looks horrible but there is no way to change its appearance. Please change this so I can look good while getting increased drops. Thanks.
This is the item that was being spoken about http://www.gw2db.com/items/925-emerald-pendant
Just want to move this back towards the top, its getting some views but no responses.
How do the condition duration sigils work when stacked? For example, I have a greatsword with Superior Sigil of Peril and my second weapon set is a sword and focus both with Superior Sigil of Peril.
Do those sigils stack or will I only see a 10% increase in duration?
Do the sigils stack all the time for all three weapons or only for the weapon I currently have out?
How would the duration be affected by weapon swapping?
If they do stack the duration how would that be calculated?
I also have the same question about the Sigil of Force.
Thank you.
I just wanted to post two changes that I think could really set the Guardian up to be even better support.
1. Healing Breeze should be a full frontal cone and increased range. I would like it to be instant cast but that would probably put it over the top. This would allow the Guardian to better apply heals to dungeon groups that are spread out.
2. Symbol of Swiftness should be changed to a symbol that reduces condition damage, buffs condition damage, or something other than speed. Unless the speed buff is necessary for some dungeon I have yet to do.
