Before I get into the meat of this build I wanted to say in context I was so upset over the new changes to our class that I about destroyed my Legendary and all ascended gear with it. If you are like me, you’ve tried dozens of builds, spent gold, time, effort only to be pigeonholed into a few “meta” builds easily countered.

I set out to curb the glass issues and new found frailty while keeping excellent burst, regeneration, condi cleanse, but most of all: gruesome stuns and capability. Switch out Sigils to your liking as I’ve tried to squeeze more damage out of each piece.

What this build provides is an excellent means of control and hidden potential. Warrior especially Berserk warriors have always especially of the"glass" spec are easily countered and shattered as I had been time after time, fight after fight. Try as I might I just couldn’t wrap my head around why.

I tried then to meld old bits of the GS/Hammer meta build with Melandru runes into something more fearsome and even more gruesome toward enemies. The result? Linked above. Make no mistake it’s nasty.

I’ve solo’d Rangers, Thieves, Warriors, done 1v3 (lost mostly : ) but took a couple) 1v2’s and supported teams of roamers in WvW. I’ve also easily taken camps to my delight with little difficulty despite being decked out as a glass Warrior.

If Strength is more to your liking go for it. I’ve gone for a build with as much potential 100% crit uptime as possible (on burst due to trait and stun due to trait) making this deadly yet VERY tanky for what it is.

Lets go into more depth.

Traits:

Arms-

Berserk Fury. I chose this due to mainly wanting Adrenaline in leaps and bounds. While Signet Mastery is another choice and you are welcome to use it I found BF more useful especially when stacking for stuns, cleanse, etc.

Unsuspecting Foe. Base crit should be above 50% without SOR. This brings your crit uptime to 100% on stunned foes. This build provides you with 3.

Burst Precision. Again Burst skills crit for 100% guaranteeing procs for Air, Fire and a very hurt foe.

Defense:

Shield Master. Brilliant. Utterly brilliant against casters and gaining might stacks are easy for even more power. Not to mention reflect and shield skill recharge.

Defy Pain. We’re glass. Need all the help we can get and this is a very powerful trait which is why I took it twice in skill and trait.

Cleansing Ire. Cleanse conditions gain adrenaline. The meat of this build with runes and food.

Discipline:

Warrior’s Sprint. Mobility is key especially post patch.

Destruction Of The Empowered. 3% makes a huge difference. If you still feel the need to cleanse more conditions feel free.

Heightened Focus. SO good. SO SO good when stacked with Frenzy. Gut those enemies wide open.

Gear:

Berserker. What Else?

Runes:

Meandru. Needed with our glass issues. Very very powerful.

Sigils: Air, Fire for dps on the Greatsword. Paralyzation for our Mace for stuns. Hydromancy on the shield for Chills.

Food:

Lemongrass, Sharpening Stones. Condi reduction, Power.

Strategy:

The idea is to fake the opponent out. Let them see your Greatsword and they will think “Bulls Charge” like always. Instead block their opener, BC in after, swap Freny, HB (this will either gut them down to hardly any health or force a heal).

The rest is whittling down with max adrenaline, using Skull Crack, countering with shield skills (might stacks and reflects and using Defy Pain). You’ll be very pleased I’m sure.

Let me know how you guys like this. I’m having tons of fun. Any improvements or suggestions I’d gladly take. Enjoy!

Another silly update. Took on two warriors and rekt each. But the hilarious thing is they ran back into their zerg. I finished one off and got away before they could catch me : D

Hello,

I saw the video by Vanss and did enjoy it. However I find that it’s very glass and like you said has to be setup correctly. Those clips are cherry picked to show when it works however.

Yes, absolutely. However, that last build is a bit particular I think. He’s chosen a high mobility setup, which allows him to cherry-pick fights directly in-game – if he finds himself losing, or not confident about engaging, he can simply go away without anyone being able to chase him.

At any rate this is something similar to what I was running with:

http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fJAQJARSjMdU2ZZIWhwJagfgC1tbOAGgqXdak7dPA-TFiFABLcIAU4IAgkSiBV/pKlgGpcDgHAwK7PQKAmUGB-w

Now generally speaking it does rather well. However like I stated before against Bunker Ele Warrior just feels off entirely. Feel free to knitpick at the build. I’ve tried other various builds and that really seems to be a major issue with me.

Thank you for sharing your build. I like that it’s damage oriented (that’s the true way of the warrior for me!), but do feel that there are some issues with the adrenaline management. I’ll give some of my thoughts below, in the hope that they can be useful to you.

The setup provides the following ways to build adrenaline:

  • Regular strikes – you need 30 of them to fill the 3 bars,
  • Berserker Stance – 3 strikes x 8 pulses = 24 strikes every 60 seconds,
  • Versatile Rage – 5 strikes at each weapon swap (every 5 seconds or more),
  • Signet of Rage passive effect – 2 strikes every 3 seconds.

So basically, once you’ve activated the Signet of Rage and the Berserker Stance, your adrenaline will grow at the slowest possible rate – which makes your burst skills unusable for some (possibly long) period of time. As a result, I believe that the investment in Burst Precision never really gets profitable.

Borrowing from a build by Gamgee, keeping your skills, food, armor/runes and trinkets, just changing traits, I think that the following could please you.

http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fJAQJASRjMdUGaVImdwJagjgC9p3BrgpAQdWk6NPA-TlCEAB7eBAY4BA4kSkEV/ZLlgMp8SiDBQb6CA4IAEz+DkCgJlRA-w

The build reallocates 20 points from Strength to Defense:

  • Stats: you lose 50 power (Armored Attack reducing the overall loss), gain 200 armor, lose 2k HP (this one not mandatory if you want to keep Great Fortitude).
  • Damage: you lose the 10% damage increase on the GS, but get the hammer CD reduction and 20% damage increase on disabled opponents.
  • Critical damage: you lose part of the guaranteed critical hit on your burst, but not all of it (because of a sigil of intelligence on the hammer). Note that an elementalist has a trait named “Stone Heart”, which prevents him from being critically hit when attuned to Earth (but it’s not in the meta).
  • Adrenaline: you gain Cleansing Ire (1 strike of adrenaline each time you’re hit), and Short Temper (1 strike each time you’re blocked, with a bit of might).
  • Resilience: you get more healing power, some regeneration thanks to Adrenal Health, and condition cleanse on bursts, thanks to Cleansing Ire.

In the end, I think you should do near the same amount of damage, but with a more frequent burst rotation, increased tankiness and condition resilience.

Hope this helps! And if you decide to not get back anyway, then I wish you the best on your other gaming adventures.

Regards.

I took the build and ran with it quite literally. However due to the issues with Bulls Charge I’ve instead swapped it for Bolas which worked splendidly against a thief.

So far I’ve killed:

2 Rangers
2 Warriors
1 Elementalist
1 Thief

And the Ele was Bunker. The hammer seems to be the linchpin with most caster classes. They just can’t get away! Thank you kindly for the build. Perhaps the Warrior class isn’t quite dead after all….

I also thought of uninstalling this game and moving on with the changes they made to the character I spent 3k+ hours on, all the nerfs from the past were all bearable but this just drew the line.

Best wishes to you

Hey thanks. I’ve played both Eve and GW1 and 2 for nearly 10 years. It just feels to me like Anet have lost all perspective and instead are min maxing their profits with silly weapon skins and gem store fluff items instead of really looking at the issues of class balance, wvw development, etc.

Hi,

GW2 is just a game, and if it generates more frustration than happiness, then you’re completely right to get away from it. I sincerely hope that you enjoy yourself more on EVE, and maybe see you back around (hopefully in less than a year!).

Condition management is a bit like risk management: one first needs to prevent its occurrence, if it happened nonetheless, then respond accordingly. I don’t really know what you tried before, but if you end up willing to discuss your options in regards of a particular build, then don’t hesitate to post the build and maybe explain situations in which you find yourself in danger. Running a berserker warrior with no longbow, I still feel confident when fighting D/D elems (but have nemesis in other counter-builds).

As for “idiots who can’t dodge a rooted attack for the GS”, you might enjoy the last video by Vanss, posted yesterday on the forum. GS Hundred Blades is a skill that must be prepared (because, as you’ve stated, opponents will simply dodge it otherwise), and even top players can fall for it (check the name of the guild for his first opponent).

Regards.

That people are always working around issues with this class or constantly tweaking and selling builds as the “new” meta or “Omgultimatewarriorbuildzpwnn00bz420” click here!

Where more often than naught build swapping can be very expensive and it changes like everything else on the fly which is a natural progression of the game. I just feel that now builds are focused on ignoring a key element of the Warrior which is Adrenaline because lets face it Anet completely dropped the ball on it.

So I’m really not one to just randomly complain especially with class balance and other issues but I’ve decided to uninstall this game and just stick with Eve. I’ve played GW since Prophecies was first released and it amazes me how twisted Anet has become when it comes to class balances especially Warrior.

Let me explain. I’m fully Ascended in weapons and armor. I run multiple condi removal’s such as traits, sigil of cleansing, food and Hoelbrak runes as well as Cleansing Ire (lol arednaline) and Leeching plus Fire and Hydro.

I run GS and Hammer, plenty of control, mobility etc and it has a great feel to it. Good burst, control, decent condi removal while not being too squishy. Sounds good right? Wrong.

I was roaming through several BG’s. I came across nothing BUT Celestial/Bunker Ele’s that just kept stacking and stacking conditions no matter what or how I tried to counter. I hardly was able to survive only to keep running into the same tired build time after time with no way to counter.

Adrenaline is borked. Ele’s simply disengage, wait for the condi’s to keep stacking to just finish you off with no way to keep any sort of adrenaline based abilities going. Warrior feels so odd now. Like there’s a vital link missing on how the class feels. And it ALL comes down to Adrenaline.

I could care less about a 5% dmg nerf or some stupid dmg nerf on Hundred Blades whatever. Let idiots who can’t dodge a rooted attack keep at it. But this is entirely different. The whole class feels off.

No I don’t want to be pigeonholed into a longbow build. No I don’t want to be limited to ONE build that might work because our class feels handicapped and out of sync especially when so much of our abilities depend upon adrenaline.

So yeah. It’s been fun guys. Back to Eve. Maybe I’ll be back in a year if they decide to unscrew this class but I doubt it. But hey enjoy more silly backpacks and useless filler items instead of Anet actually looking at how classes should interact and feel especially when it comes to a PVP environment.

Peace.
