Oh wow, I didn’t even bother logging out. Tried it once with another quest and I was still in the instance when logging back in. Thought it wasn’t possible. very ironic though how I found the place myself where the quest will take me haha.

Thanks!

Hey there,

Just started the quest ‘Buried insight’ from the HoT storyline. I’m at the point where I need to find the elder dragon research. I realised that I should’ve stayed with the NPC’s in order to find out.

However, I ran around Rata Novus, jumped into the water, went all the way down, north and then up out of the water again and then jumped down into some kind of Asura chamber and I can’t find a way out.

Is it possible to end the quest other than running out of the borders of the instance? If not, does anyone know how I can get out of this chamber?

What class (and build) fits me the most?

pve or pvp? There is a huge difference in power and they way, balance is setup. For example necromancer is considered to be the ultimate condinuke for pvp and fairly op. But hardly has a place in fractals. An then again can take a role in raids.
As long as you stick to casual pve (fractals/open world) you should not be too concerned. You can pretty much play everything.
You will have to move away from the ‘ranged’ idea tho. Most teams dont like, if people dont stay in the melee stack, cause it makes mobs run around.
Warrior is indeed a good way to take some damage, deal some damage and help your team.
Rangers, guards, necros are farily easy to play. Thief requires some dodging, mesmer is mostly support, rev is a little more complex but still easy enough. Engineer and ele are really the ones, who require complex rotations to achieve the best performance.

Oh yes forgot to mention. I mainly play open world PvE, doing storylines and event bosses. Edited my original post now.

Hey there,

Yes another one of those ‘I don’t know what class to play’ topic, but I seem to struggle with this in every single MMORPG.

I have recently gotten my first class to lvl 80, which is an elementalist. I enjoy it’s playstyle with the staff, probably because it has a lot of AoE damage.

I pretty much only play PvE, doing storylines and event bosses.

However, I like to look tough and I like to stand out and this is pretty important to me. Even though I enjoy my elementalist, I can’t seem to get over with the fact that they just don’t nearly look close to tough.

I would say that I enjoy ranged builds the most, but I can’t figure out if the reason for that is that I find melee a little clunky and awkward to play and I just have to get used to the melee playstyle.

I also don’t like classes with very complex mechanics.

I also like to not die a lot and I like to feel and actually be powerful.

Could you help me out finding a class (and build) that suits me the most? Are there any OP classes/builds or classes/builds that stand out from the others at the moment or is it all pretty much balanced?

Thanks in advance.

About unlocking masteries..

Hey there!

I just turned lvl 80 on my Elementalist and bought the HoT expansion.

Now I want to unlock the central Tyria and Heart of Maguuma masteries, but I don’t quite get how it works. I do however already have 12 mastery points for Central Tyria but it’s still locked for me. My ‘exp bar’ is stuck on 0 now, I believe this is my mastery rank. The game tells me to ‘Journey to the Heart of Maguuma and complete the story step ’Torn From the Sky’ to unlock mastery tracks’.

It also tells me ‘After unlocking masteries, travel to any location in Central Tyria to unlock these mastery tracks’.

Those are 2 different things and it mentions 2 different things: Masteries and Mastery Tracks. What is the difference?

Also, I just finished the main personal storyline and killed Zhaitan. If I now start the HoT Storyline and complete the quest ‘Torn From the Sky’, will it spoil anything for me? Do I first need to complete other stories in order to understand the HoT storyline and not spoil anything for me, if yes, what storylines?

Another thing, what happens with all the EXP I get now that I’m lvl 80?

In short, I just really don’t understand how all this mastery stuff works.

Could anyone help me out?

Thanks in advance.
