Iron Marches dust farm

Anet should have nerfed Turrets and Minions into the ground, the first time people tried to afk farm.

The problem is though, atleast for Engineer, is that turrets are already so weak outside of AFK farming that a nurf just further makes them useless.

Id prefer if they replace all turrets aside from the healing one with something else entirely that would be used more

How Build Templates might look + Explanation

Thought id share some ideas as to how build templates might look and feel.

The basic premise is that build templates would edit all equipped items, as well as specializations and action skills with a simple push of a button, saving lots of time for people who switch builds often.

As pictured below in the imgur link, all armour/weapons/accessories would have a second layer behind them to place a second set of equipment on.

This could be switched at any time as long as the player is out of combat, providing an easy method to change builds.

Builds can be switched by pressing “I” or “II”. You would even be able to use a different set of dyes for the second set.

In order to prevent players from having to craft a second set of legendary armour, any armour currently equipped would automatically be transferred over to the second build if no armour is already there.

The build tab would also offer the ability to swich builds. Changes made would be saved to allow for easy swiching later.

Using this system, builds could easily be changed between 2 different types very quickly. It allows for people with legendary armour (or only 1 set of ascended armour) to still make use of it.

Condi Holosmith - WvW testing results

My question would be not if condi holosmith is viable (because it obviously is), but if condi holosmith can output more damage then power holosmith can, and if either would be better then the other in certain situations.

Or for that matter, what situations (PvE, sPvP, WvW) holosmith would do better in compared to base engi and scrapper.

For example, power holosmith might use rifle instead due to pistols focusing on condition, and as a result might be able to achieve higher damage output for the purpose of raids and T4 Fractals.

I suppose that sort of in depth testing would have to wait until full release.

So what weapons would work with holosmith?

100% rifle guy here. CC is king in this game, more so with breakbars in PvE. Photon forge will provide all the melee you need, so sword is overkill in the melee department. Rifle will provide the perfect opener with net shot or overcharged shot if you have stability. Once your foe is locked down, go go gadget photon mode and swing your light stick. Rifle will also provide an extra gap closer with leap shot, in addition to your holo leap. Plus, having a predator strapped to your back is so much more badkitten compared to anything else. Gotta look good for all those corpses you’ll be standing over.

You know, you actually make a very persuasive point. I suppose I’m just a tad salty at having to give up using hammers, but Rifle does seem the best option for holosmith.

Now I just have to learn a new rotation…

Theres a photonforge skill that can apply a lot of burns short duration but great for reapplication since a short cd i think that one could potentially run a p/s build and rely on that burning skill to apply the burns that off hand pistol would giving us more self defence without sacraficing damage output compared to a core p/p condi build, alternativly you can use p/p and not use flamer for incin ammo bursting or yolo maximum burning and set the world on fire

So what your saying is, even without condi stats, photonforge has enough condi skills that make taking pistol/sword viable?

Might need to end up going celestial stats in that case O_o

It has SOME potent Condi. I wouldn’t.. base an entire build around it, unless you’re specifically going to focus on Burn condi and nothing else.

Fair enough. Here’s hoping actual testing goes to show that pistol can be effective without a condi build.

I was thinking sword/shield as soon as I knew Holo was more power, though I do see you point for using pistol as you have the immob and a decent attack in blowtorch, though, I’ll probably be running shield myself.

My main point I was trying to make however is that both shield AND pistol seem to be ineffective in a damage-focused build.

Pistol because of its lack of strength without Condi gear, and shield because of its general lack of damage.

However, I feel sword+shield will probably end up being my preferred gear combo too, if not for the shield’s reflect, then for the added defense.

I can’t be the only one who sees a problem with how to equip holosmith.

Don’t get me wrong, the traits and stuff look amazing, and I’m aware that since It hasn’t been released yet, I shouldn’t jump to conclusions and its subject to change, however…

Weapon wise, we can assume based off the wiki that the traits and abilities holosmith provides will be power based, meaning pistols would seem to be rather ineffective as a main weapon due to their focus on condition damage.

So, whats the leave us? Underpowered rifles, or sword + offhand shield. The options don’t seem very appealing.

Am I missing something here? Would Sword + Pistol actually be strong together?

Question about engi/scrapper

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

While I don’t have much experience with raids, power engi for fracs works relatively well, not because it has the highest DPS in the world, but because, as the OP said, its quite a lot easier to use.

Even using 2-5 hammer skills combined with a grenade kit deals good enough damage while being extremely easy to use.

Another key point is that the new Holosmith being released will likely benefit from berserker stats, so investing in such equipment will work for this too.

While I can understand (somewhat) how HoT, and GW in general, can be seen as a service, the fact still stands that the amount of additional content HoT players are getting compared to new players for the same amount is vastly different.

Just because HoT players have played for longer does not, in my opinion, justify charging the same amount for less content

At the very least, give people who own HoT players something extra, like an exclusive miniature or selling the deluxe for a discount.

I’m just spitballing here, but perhaps if it was discounted for vets, BUT they included S3 for new people, it could be more justified in charging more to new players?

Well, its logical to conclude ArenaNet can and will do either 1 of 3 things.

1.) Sell it at the same price to everyone, regardless of if they own HoT – I’m sure however if they did this, it would cause massive outrage and anger, which they would want to avoid for obvious reasons.

2.) Sell it at a discounted price to HoT owners – this makes most sense logically, but it also begs the question of how much to charge, considering someone people only bought HoT, and others bought the deluxe version, as well as if the new expansion in itself will have a deluxe version.

3.) Give it as a free addon to people who bought HoT – I see this as extremely unlikely to happen simply because it would undermine their work, and as a result, lower the profit they make.

Sorry if it has been asked before, but I couldn’t find it anywhere.

My question is, will the next expansion be discounted if you already own Heart of Thorns?

Since HoT has been stated to be included as part of the next Expansion, will it be discounted if you already own HoT? Since otherwise, you would be paying the same amount as someone who didn’t buy HoT, but for significantly less additional content.

Even though it may seen hypocritical, Sylvari Engineers are quite fun to use. The funniest thing is when you end up using a flamethrower as a sylvari.
