The reason for the high prizes is the inflation. Nothing more and nothing less. As players got used to the content, obtaining gold has become a lot easier over the last years.
The prizes are just that high because there are players around who will/would pay regardless of the cost.

‘’Buying gold’’ you mean ?
Prices are ’’that’’ high because people can buy gold.

While that is indeed hilarious , the reason most people ran of the cliff was not of their own accord .

A necro placed a fear wall there so anyone running through it would run automatically off the cliff .

Always bring a stunbreaker along when Running in EOTM or WVW .

So, can we say a few people got feared by Necro’s fear wall.
And the rest followed em!?
