For anyone who owns Crossover (emulation software; it is not like Parallels—it is more like wine which is what the beta client runs on), GW2 does run on Crossover; however, there are graphics and mouse issues, but it is totally playable (I ran a dungeon w/ these issues). If you go the crossover route, it’s going to install GW2 and during the install, it will launch the launcher. Crossover never finishes the install even if all ~20gb of GW2 get installed. So, after all the other steps have occurred and the launcher pops up, you can clicked “x” by the step “Install GW2” and Crossover will finish the “bottle” and you can just launch the game yourself where it can install.
If you do not own Crossover (and I wouldn’t recommend buying it bc hopefully this issue with the client will be resolved), then you can try PlayOnMac which is free. I have never used it and do not know how easy it is to use, but according to their site, GW2 is a supported app and working. Here is the link: https://www.playonmac.com/en/app-1126-Guild_Wars_2.html

Just thought I’d share these interim solutions until the “real” GW2 client gets fixed for people like us.
Delete the guild wars 2 folder in application support – then restart your computer (makes absolutely sure that no GW2 processes are running) and then open the app. That technically -should- fix it.
If that really isn’t fixing the problem then it might be best to submit a support ticket?
That unfortunately is not working. But I really didn’t have this launcher issue until I tried that solution in the first place to fix my first problem. Nonetheless, thank you for the tip. It certainly didn’t hurt anything. I’m going to submit a ticket.
Whenever I try to launch the game, the icon is on my dock with the “light” underneath indicating that it is running, but the launcher never appears.
Some background info:
I was having issues yesterday with playing the game. I was able to get into the game, but after maybe 10 minutes, it would crash due to a “coherent host” error(?). I am unsure if that is the correct phrase since I have been unable to recreate the problem.
I went to the troubleshooting sticky to try to fix that issue and I repaired the launcher. After, I launched and crashed again. So I deleted application support folder and since then, I have not been able to launch. After that, I made sure I was up-to-date and repaired the disks. No luck. I tried repairing the launcher again. It never would complete the process, as if the launcher app was unresponsive.
I decided to reinstall the game, but there is no change. I am in the same position as before. The launcher never appears. Since the new install, I have not tried the troubleshooting tips again, but I will try repair launcher line again in terminal to see if that might help.

Does this apply to not receiving zone completion chests? I haven’t gotten a chest for completing the last few zones. I did Kessex Hills and Gendarren Fields.
Strange. Same problem here, but didn’t know it was authenticator related until now. If so, the problem does still exist.
2. No buffs, just bug fixes.
At 80 PvE we’re great, in sPvP we’re great and in WvW were bordering OP.
Idk about you but in PvE, I struggle a bit. As for PvP side of things, not much needs to be changed (minor stat buffs) and in WvW ofc we’re good. All you do is stand behind the mob and lay down fire AoEs which I think there’s a general consensus that staff fire is fine.
