Anet tries to get you out of your disease ridden CoF and encourages you to see the world by taking your toys and you complain.
You punish by taking away toys. You encourage by making other toys seem more attractive. I’m not a hardcore player but it doesn’t take long to work out that “balancing” by ANet equals “nerf”. So, so many things have been nerfed over the years that these days, I don’t really care anymore and gravitate to whatever’s more profitable. There’s no permanency to anything – it’s just a matter of time before something else is nerfed (as evidenced by the most recent bunch of reward nerfs).
It’s fun to put all the blame on the players themselves rather than looking at the type of environment that has been created as a result of ANet’s past decisions.

I tried the new daily and again at reset not long ago and must say I’m not a fan. The new dailies remind me of how it was before the update that made them less restrictive, except worse. Completing the dailies passively whilst exploring the map of my choice was satisfying – with the way things are now after the change, I see myself going back to how it was before i.e. not bothering about them unless I happen to be in the right area.
It’s disappointing that Anet is still trying to push players into content they don’t enjoy. I hate PvP with a burning passion and a daily will not make me participate in it, only restrict the things I actually can do for the daily. What’s irritating is that I know exactly what I like and dislike, yet Anet’s attitude, based on the changes they make, comes across to me as, “You may think you don’t like X but really, you do…” or “This must be your first MMO – trust us, you’ll like this…”
Oh well.

I feel so sorry for the RPers and anyone else who purchased town clothes to mix and match them. I’d have liked to wear town clothes in combat, but not like this and not at the expense of a small community that has stuck with the game despite being ignored (right or wrong, the last point of contention was uninstanced Salma District, I believe).

Reached 1,200 in an overflow after the change, which was pretty sweet. Throughout it all, a few people were positively encouraging, congratulating and co-ordinating people on map chat – I don’t know if this is what made the difference but it feels like it did.

Here are a few places I thought were pretty. Would have taken a lot more if we had first person view :/

I’ve seen a few threads lately started by new players asking where all the people are and if they will see more people as they level. shrug In my experience, the impression of dead maps is far more likely to drive away new people than a busy map with your usual assortment of folks.

I’m not sure about the Jackalope event. I’ve done it several times at different points since launch but I don’t remember a chest. There is a chest nearby in the Jotun potato farm though, guarded by another veteran and a lot of people will get that after the Jackalope event.
Yeah there’s a chest in that farm but I’m sure there was a small one in the hut also, after killing him. Maybe I’m remembering a different area, didn’t think so though. Thanks for the help.

Thanks Falunel, I’ll try that. Thought there was something odd happening because it never happened in the past.

I just completed the event in Wayfarer Foothills to kill the veteran jotun (after collecting piles of fur for Linnea and then defending her as she chases the jackalope) and I’m sure there used to be a small chest you could open afterwards in the little hut the jotun is found in. Has this been removed, or am I imagining things?
Also, I took some months break and upon returning, have noticed that many heart NPCs no longer offer rewards. I’ve seen this on different characters, whether downleved or at an appropriate level for the area, in all different areas and on different servers. There simply aren’t any rewards to purchase, and all you see on the buy tab is items from your own inventory to sell. Can anyone please tell me if this was a planned change and, if so, why?
Evadney (Mesmer)
I did this heart on an alt the other day and know just what you mean lol. I got the flag near the heart NPC by jumping on the boxes (I think they were boxes) behind it then crept to the right and hid by the rock in front of the guy who jumps out of stealth in the corner. As soon as stealth guy disappeared, I crept behind his spot to get the flag there, then I think jumped onto the tent, walked across it and dropped down at the right time to get the next flag.
After that I kept being discovered so my advice probably isn’t all that great lol. But if you can get the first few, just wait and they’ll reset soon so you can go around to get them again.

I started on Henge of Denravi and rarely saw a single person out in the world while exploring. I thought the game was dead until I tried guesting, then eventually transferred to Tarnished Coast. I’m happy to lag occasionally if it means not playing an sRPG.
When starting the game, it’s safe to say that most people would see the population indicator beside the server name representative of “active players”, not “accounts tied to this server”. Transfer fees are understandable (though a bit high) but when combined with the inability to make an informed decision when choosing your first home server, it feels more like a trap.
What would be cool is if each account received one free transfer (not including the free transfers after deleting all your characters). That way, new players who have invested a lot of time in their characters before realising they really want to switch servers have one chance to get it right – the chance that should have been given at the creation of their account.
I feel sorry for the bunch of new players GW2 has had recently, with every server listed as “Very High”.

Perhaps the initial focus could be on providing incentives, like increased XP/loot/gold drop rate if you’re in a party. Improvements to the guild interface/system along with implementing guild halls and alliances would also help. These sorts of changes could pave the way for new and challenging content.

Perhaps in the real world this type of top would not be advisable, however there is no reason why, in a game, this particular top (which is, incidentally, less revealing than other armour tops) is so objectionable.
I don’t particularly like the human t3 light leggings so have gone with something different for my caster – I don’t care about the t3 leggings being changed to something else because other people like it and it’s no skin off my nose. It’s that simple.
In a game that is all about the looks, the highest tier armor should not be left unaccessible to people that draw the line on how much revealing is too much. There is a huge difference between the bra support in other skimpy armors, and what we have to deal with here.
There will never be an armour set that every single player will like. Many people like the medium top; many people don’t. And sorry but in a fantasy game, what is the logic to why showing one area of the breast is worse than showing more of a different area of the breast?
Furthermore, no self respectful woman will show herself in public exposing her underboobs to the eye. It is in no way empowering nor tasteful. Please note that I am talking about public situations.
I would agree that most women would prefer not to show underboob in the real world, however I also would not wear stuff like this, this and this in public. Should these also be changed? Am I more self-respecting than those who only object to the t3 medium top? Or is it perhaps that the armour in this game wasn’t designed to be worn out on the street but on our characters. In a game. In a world that is very different to our own.
I’m honestly not sure if all of these posts are actually serious or if this is just one massive troll. There is enough variety in armour here that you can choose anything from revealing to chaste; complaining about this one medium top just boggles the mind, especially when compared to the lingerie armour in most other MMORPGs.

I stopped caring about the Living Story after Dragon Bash. I was so incredibly hyped for it and then it turned out to be, “do [something] 100 times” for most of it. Oh and the fireworks display that had a lot of people confused, annoyed and frustrated by overflows, permanent orange skies and a general lack of information.
After the announcement of the LS schedule, so many said that it would be too fast. I can’t help but think that, with a more relaxed schedule, we’d have been seeing higher quality content with more fleshed-out stories than what has been presented thus far.

The only solution I can think of is to have your friend create a female Norn as short as possible, that way she’ll be slightly taller than the tallest human. Just keep in mind that having a tall character can negatively affect you when doing jumping puzzles because of the way the camera works.

Same thing happened with me. I was kicked from Wayfarer Foothills on TC and got that “unable to authenticate your gameplay privileges” error when trying to log back in. Tried the fix posted here for Error Code 21 x x x x https://en.support.guildwars2.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/8994/~/error-codes which let me log back in.
After a little while, I DCed with 5:11:3:159:101. Trying to relog wouldn’t work and I’d get the same error. Guested to a different server and tried again, and could log in. Then…it happened again.

Just tested this on Tarnished Coast. The vet & co. respawn in about a minute, while the nests respawn in about 20 minutes.

This world has lived in shadow from a pair of demon’s wings
But none here fear the future or the darkness that it brings
The monster puts on quite a show, expecting us to yield
But there’s just one course of action when we take up sword and shield
Bash the dragon! Smash the dragon!
Drive it right back into its den
Bash the dragon! Smash the dragon!
May it never rise up again
I have a crazy love for this song already. Hope it’s played in-game during the event at some point.

Will your bear still protect you if you’re attacked by something?
It’s an interesting challenge and sounds like it’d be a lot of fun. I don’t RP but will have to try this at some point. Are you going to update this thread with your adventures?
Love the screenshot, by the way
