This has happened to me as well. I went through W1Z2, W1Z3, W2Z1, and W2Z2 before deciding to give up. Strangely enough, the achievement did work in W1Z1 when SAB first came out in April. I never attempted the achievement for Zone 2 or 3 during that time so I can’t tell if things would’ve turned out differently.
I’ve noticed that champions tend to be ignored quite often, which is disappointing. I enjoy the challenge they can provide. The change to allow them to at least drop a blue quality item was a nice idea, but didn’t seem to have much effect. I’ve also been working towards a legendary weapon, and I can’t help but think that getting fine materials is an incredibly tedious grind. When thinking about how to improve these both champions rewards and fine material gathering, I figured: why not let champions drop fine materials?
I figure this could help give more incentive to fight champions, and also make the grind for fine crafting materials a little more interesting. Killing a champion would give you a few (maybe just 1 even) fine crafting materials, that are applicable to the champion’s level and type. Killing a champion drake in a lower level zone would give you a lower tier fine material, compared to a higher level drake dropping tier 5 or 6 materials.
It’s not a perfect solution; it will probably cause players to swarm into higher level zones even more so than they do now, and there isn’t a balanced ratio of champions types in tyria as of now. Still, I think it’s a good groundwork for making champions a little more interesting to take down.
I believe the loot should stay as it is with the world bosses. However, the difficulty/length of these world bosses should be improved. Once you start getting the massive groups of players seen now, the bosses should become almost as difficult as some of the temple events in Orr.
Along with that, dungeon chest rewards should definitely be improved, but not before increasing the length of some of the extremely quick to complete paths. DR-could- be implemented too, but that’s not much fun at all.
I can’t say much about WvW right now, hopefully the new rewards in the upcoming patch are comparable to what is available with the world events now.
I would prefer to have an alternate forms of progression rather than a simple level increase. GW1 had some systems like that with the Sunspear/Lightbringer progression system. You’d get improved skills as you increase your rank in the respective faction. This wouldn’t work so well in GW2, but I think doing something along the same lines can give players a sense of progression in expansions while not feeling like you’re just working towards a new level cap.
People need to stop complaining about what was said in the past (the manifesto was made 2 years ago! That is a long time). Instead, give suggestions to improve or change things about the game. I see these forums and I see thread after thread where the only point is to call out a developer or the company and villainize them as greedy, liars, or worse. I see fellow players attacking each other as if they are enemies, for simply stating their opinions on something. Is this what we want to turn this game into? A group of people arguing and fighting each other over words, opinions, and thoughts? I certainly don’t.
