How did smoothing become part of the game to begin with is my question. Thanks for removing it! My brain thanks you and I am no longer nauseous. For those that like laggy camera’s please add an option for them and name is “laggy camera feature”.
This is what happens when ambition is +10 but knowledge is +1. Sadly, this is the prevailing wind in game development these days.
I’ve been on vacation for almost 2 weeks. Viva Italia! Anyway, have these big fight issues been fixed? It’s kinda nice seeing your enemy in a pvp game. I doubt I have to explain that. Also, having reasonable input response when trying to perform an important action is fairly important. Have these issues been improved? I’m talking the ZvZ stuff. Stonemist keeplord on reset type stuff.
We have been asking for you to remove smoothing since BWE1 (probably before BWE1). We don’t want it lessened we want it gone. The non-linear nature of any smoothing/acceleration is awful. The threads dedicated to this issue have been some of the most intelligent and conclusive you will ever find on a gaming board.
Many of those same threads also have asked for an increased FOV option. Humans have around 180 degrees of forward field of view. In a game anything less than 90 begins to feel contricted and zoomed in. Anything above 110 in games starts to look distorted. A slider between default (im guessing it’s 65 or 70) and 110 degrees would be perfect.
Camera collision deserves a serious look as well.
I have been crying for something like this since BWE1. Honestly, I don’t think ArenaNet understands. They don’t want to “dirty up” screenshots with a crosshair. Thew great irony here is part of their philosphy in creating GW2 was to have fluid combat. Yet they won’t even acknowledge a simple UI improvment that would make combat much more fluid and user friendly than it currently is.
Judging from the video it looks as though tab targeting was also fixed. It seems to operate in a line in front of the character rather than a 360 degree circle around the character. This makes picking the intended target as simple as looking at it and clicking a button. A more surgical method of targeting if you will. Again, this is something many of us have voiced our opion on since BWE1.
I would urge everyone that understands what this actually does to stay vocal. This is such a simple fix and would make combat so much more fluid and enjoyable.
I completely agree. I am a longtime FPS player and the non-linear nature of the camera is nauseating to me. I also agree the FOV is far too narrow. Finally the downed state camera zooming in and panning on it’s own is a major pain. Please fix! Thanks.
I play mostly WvW and am getting the same issues in medium-large to large fights. Skills won’t go off, everything around me freezes but I can still run around. Often the lag will end and everyone has warped away. I have ran in to the keep lord and tried using a skill, the skill didn’t go off until after the keep lord had died and everyone had warped to their current state. It is utterly unplayable when this is happening.
I have checked my ping using speedtest to Austin and it’s always 40-50ms with full 25mb bandwidth. If I knew the server ip I could do a tracert. My system is modern, gtx580, i7 2600k @ 3.4, Asus p8p67 deluxe, 8gb ram. When asking guildmates in teamspeak during these specific times, some have it and some don’t.
Thanks.
