It’s actually pretty funny when it comes to the cash shop. Most people were worried about it being p2w, but here we are asking for more things to be added to it. I think they are getting along fine with their gold for cash.

You are completely mistaken. I am talking about cosmetic stuff, NOT power-boosting items.

Well, if you look at The Secret World, their item store is stuffed with cosmetic stuff and a few xp-boosts (not pay-to-win). I’ve spent over $200 in their item store.

I couldn’t possibly dream of spending an equal amount here seeing as there are no interesting items at the moment. To me, that seems like bad marketing strategy. While, the temporary items strategy is okay, they should have more permanent items as well.

So how often do they push out new items?

They tend to remove items from the gem store after an arbitrary amount of time. This tends to lend those items immediacy and increase the need or desire for them “right now”.

It’s a marketing tactic that resonates with a large part of the player base. Makes them feel “special”.

Well, do items sometimes reappear in the store later on, or is it written in stone that they appear once and then they’re gone forever?

Hi, I just started playing Guild Wars 2 about a week ago and I’m really enjoying the experience.

One question I have though is that why are there so few items in the Gem Store?
I don’t really feel like buying gems when there’s almost nothing to spend them on. I’m not asking for Pay-to-Win items, that would be horrible, but like; why aren’t there more cosmetic stuff and such?

One would think that a Buy-to-Play game would have more items in their item store to attract consumers.
