Well i rather have a /duel and /inspect command (wich i both find great addition to the game) then having a dead server, population wise in one years time. Its the small things that does it.
It has, if i would reactivate my old account and login to my old WoW server i would have people greeting me from left and right and welcoming me back again inside a couple of minutes.
Thats a community.
That would never happen in a game like GW2 that dont care so much about building a Server/Player community.
Hmm. A game you played for how many years? made how many friends?
Maybe they would welcome you back. GW2 has been out what.. 2 months? And you expect to have made 100’s of friends by now?
Also, I dare you to reactivate your account and goto a random server, saying that you’re ‘back’. I can assure you no one will greet you with any form of ‘welcome’. Trade trolls aren’t that nice.
You guys are in denial if you don’t believe that this games social aspect is horrific.
Ah, hello Strawman.
Whats the point of going back to a completly random server and saying im back? i dont get it…
Dungeon finder is a relative new thing in that other game, it was not there for the first years of the game, and having an instant dungeon finder did wonders with removing the server community feeling.
Same with the cross server LFG for both the PvE and the PvP.
I will take some time to post about the lack of a server community feeling that
GW2 is struggling with, and what it will mean for the longetivity of the game.
In WoW when Vanilla launched they did a great job of building a sense of
Server community, in the end of the levelling process i had 25-30 friends on
my freinds list. And those stayed good friends of mine for the next 4-5 years of
playing the game. With time in WoW my friends list grew and grew.
At the end of the GW2 leveling process i still had Zero friends on my friends list. Why is that?
Because in GW2 you simply dont need friends or a guild to complete the content, its easy enough
to get a group for anything you want to do that is currently ingame. To this date from release i have not
felt the need or urge to add anyone to my friends list, aint that strange for an MMO?
That is both good and bad. It means that at any time you can get a group up and
running for the content you want to do, but it also means that the people you will
do the content with will be complete randoms, and the sense of community wont be there.
What further built the sense of community in WoW was of course the PvP and the PvE raids. In the beggining there
there was no Battlegrounds at all, just Alliance vs Horde World pvp, you got to know the fighters of
your own server, both on your own side and on the other side. Then when the battlegrounds came along
you were still Alliance vs Horde on your own server duking it out, so it was easy to get to know everyone in the scene, both
friends and foes.
In GW2 the people running beside you feels like randoms, i havent made a single friend in WvW yet, and ive been
playing it alot. The lack of seeing the competitions names in WvW makes it even more unpersonal so to speak. It could just aswell be
NPCs im fighting against.
The lack of a /inspect commmand to just check other people out gearwise and traitwise is another hit against the server community, just
hanging out by the AH checking your friends out was a big part of the other MMO.
Being able to duel other players in the PvE gameworld furthermore detracts from
trying to create an active server community, in WoW people met in the PvE world
dueled eachoter at set meet up points, compared equipment, speccs, enchants and gems with eachoter, here Arena teams and Battleground
teams were created aswell.
There were no problems with duel spamming as people here suggests from having an /duel command implemented.
People wonder why people all the time is going back to WoW? well it for sure aint the game in itself that people are going back
to, its the player community, and the friends you made that makes people going back time after time. If you fail with the task of creating
a server community then it doesnt matter what features you have in your MMO, it will be dead in a couple of months.
You are creating an online world, please do it properly, with small simple features that enchances the server community feel.
Below are two simple commands that would help to implement a further sence of server community :
/inspect xxxx
/duel xxxx
I dont see the need for Duel arenas, i just want a simple /duel command for the PvE world.
So ASB, why does this work extremely well in other MMOs? Is it because the GW2 playerbase are too young or what?
“without damaging the cooperative atmosphere of PvE.”
Geez, the hippies went too far on this comment above lol, how would allowing duels damage the cooperative atmosphere of PvE.
LMAO!.

Hey Devs.
Kegbrawl is all good, i go there with my guild sometimes and we have a laugh everytime, why not make a minigame based on the worlds most popular sport out there? Football/Soccer.
You can call it Troll Ball or something, instead of a proper ball, we could kick around the head of a Troll or something.
I mean, Football/Soccer is the number one sport on the planet, having it implemented in GW2 as a minigame would make alot of sence.
I dont want private arenas, i want the option to right click a player in the PvE world and choose the option “Duel player”, if the other player acceppts then bang, we have a duel right there in the PvE world.
Simple game mechanics wich brings the game forward in alot of areas.
So when will we have duels implemented in the game?
Being able to duel anyone outside towns in GW2 is a must imo, its a great tool for learning your own class and how to beat other classes in PvP.
Also its a great community building tool. Having overlooked a /duel command in the first place is strange imo.
Having places outside towns where people meet to duel eachoter, compare builds, equipment etc is a good Server community binding thing to have.
Implement it.
People were exploiting, i went in with a PUG that used a speed boost to jump/skip a part in the instance. It was clearly exploiting, i hope they get banned.
Yep, now everytime your part of an PUG, and you say you dont want to exploit the bomb the door part, you get kicked out of the group. I hope they all get banned for sure, since the instance is perfectly doable using the kiting method.
Just kill the first big dude that spawn, and then start to kite em, everyone just focusing on one target after the initial one goes down.
Did it 10 times yesterday with other people who did not feel the need to exploit or was interested in loosing their accounts by exploiting.
Is there an easy way to report exploiters ingame? or do i have to come to the website and do it?
Yes theres an exlpoit with ppl jumping over the door before the bomb explodes, the whole pug community on my server is exploiting that as we speak.
On my server all PUG groups have started to use the exploit when magg is putting the bomb at the door to the final door, i find it pathetic since the dungeon is perfectly doable without exploiting, ive finnished the instance 10 times today without exploiting.
I hope they all get banned.
Atleast the 2nd poster knows what im talking about.
Just found out that several groups on my server is exploiting the CoF Magg Speedrun, it involves skipping the 2nd boss before the main boss.
Im sick of seeing it, and im sick of getting in arguments when 90% of the PUG wants to exploit and i dont want to do it.
So arena.net, please fix the instance.
Contact me ingame if you wish to have more info.
In my case, a simply message saying : “Sorry your class cannot buy this item” would have been enough, since its souldbound, why would i want to buy that anyway`??
I sent a support ticket, but guildmates allready said that they dont reinburse or change items. So im not having much hope for that one. Once i bought the wrong item for gold, at the vigil armor vendor, and i contacted a GM and they simply said.
“We lack the tools to change the item for you”
So i guess it is the same story with this issue.
Well i had a 2-3 min rage session on guild channel about it, but now im calm again tough.
But i would like to know if any tools for changing this item back, is on the way or not, or if i should buy another pair of gloves, but this time the heavy ones….
So, i bought the wrong exotic item with CF badges.
Been grinding some CF, and finally i got 180 badges to buy a exotic armor reward, was a bit tired and instead of buying the heavy armor gloves i bought the light armor gloves wich i cant use and now are souldbound.
Entirely my fault i agree.
But i would like to see one of the following implementations for the game :
1. Only display Souldbound items/rewards per class at the vendor.
2. Implement Sell back to the Exotic dungeon rewards NPCs
3. Implement GM tools so we can get items changed upon request.
One of the above options would be great imo.
