Guys,

I want to say thanks to all the posters that cared to read and replied. Never mind the trolls.

1) correct, I made a mistake: I did not have to buy books when changing traits, that was some silver to be paid to the trainer;

2) I have logged in into the game, and still have the same feeling: I had worked on trait lines for some months, and what is there now, is different. It also means, that to get the same (or close) effectiveness, I would have to change the gear stats and runes associated with it. I cba;

3) I understand that game needs to be refreshed. That imho does not necessarily mean changing basic stuff every X number of months. The previous change (runes) made my pretty costy gear for a ranger to be wasted (this was a char tailored to grind for resources, with maxed mf). I can understand people happy to accept that traits are different now, but I can also express my opinion: I think it is a mistake.

Some of you know what I mean, when I say that I have been experimenting with trait lines for months. And these people know very well, that is also meant changing / playing with runes and addons. Apart from being pretty costy, it took me several months to build a good PvP guardian, and a very good dungeon guardian & warrior. It took me some months to tailor my ranger, to get to know how the mesmer works and prepare a really good build for it. Some will say, traits in WvW & PvP do not cost. Well, yes. Does it also go for the armor and weapons? no, it does not. Well, I have enjoyed that. Do I have to accept being a rabbit again, tailor my chars again and – in some near future, wake up and have to do that again & again? and the answer Why is pretty simple. Because of the economy. More changes, more gems.

GW1 had its ups and downs, Anet did nerf some skills / builds, and that usually made me mad for couple of hours. But there was some climate in GW1, that GW2 lacks, and such changes as implemented, will not make it even close.
And I do not have to try it, since I have been on it nearly from the very start of the game and – obviously, I have all extensions.

Well, as I had said: I will log in, to talk with some people that are still here in GW2, altough, after checking the guild roster, over 100 of my mates vanished, never logged in for months. Some of them I know in rl, and I have asked them why don’t they play: the answer was always the same – they got bored with GW2, and casually, they will go back to GW1. To relax.

All the best luck guys, and – have fun from playing the GW2: I still believe, that from the aestethical point of view, GW2 really rocks. Both graphics and the music score are fantastic.

yours.

It's a different game again

Dear Anet,

I have been playing Guild Wars 2 since the very beginning, actually, I am an old Guildwars veteran (love the GW1 btw).

Here, in GW2 I developed 8 chars, level 80 each. All already finished personal stories, all having different professions. Some I have just left lying there, and used from time to time to see the differences between classes / professions, call it a learning curve. Several of my chars were developing nicely within the WvW part of the game, since I have had found PvE as quite boring after discovering 100% of the map – nevertheless, I had even started a new char (deleted one of the 80 level ones to free the spot ) to play a different race. All of my chars had a certain Trait line, armor and runes, tailored to my play style and to certain build (after experimenting for months, I had quite nice builds for my favourite Guardian, Warrior, Ranger and a Necromancer).

In the meantime you have changed some basic mechanics (runes, armors), so I had lost some investment made prior to that, and had to redo some of my chars back again. OK, told myself: calm down, do not care, keep on playing – and this decision has been made mainly because I was leading the guild.

Due to real life requirements I had to stop playing some 4 months ago. After sorting things out, I came back and logged in yesterday.

Apart from LA being in ruins, with barely anyone around and definitely without the helping spirit (noone was answering my questions on the map), so more like a dead server (UW), I realized there is new trait line, for example.

Well, in my humble opinion, that is a sheer madness to change horses during the race.

Months of experimenting, doing calculations and reading lots of posts on forums to understand the trait mechanics, all gone with the wind.

Time completely wasted, months of playing & testing new builds gone.

All investment into the skill books – gone with the wind (that was required when I was changing traits, and costed a lot), gone down the drain.

There are even more changes implemented, which – from my point of view – change the rules again, having as the main goal to drain more and more real life cash from me, if I want to play that game.

It was already difficult to gather a proper dungeon team prior to current changes.

It was also difficult, boring and was occupying a lot of time to grind for resources, required not even for sale, but to collect mats for legendary. DR was hitting way too strong, regardless of the runes / armor / magic find %.

Guys in Anet. Why don’t you try to deliver what you have had promissed prior to GW2 release, instead of changing what should never be changed?

Why don’t you add some content, if you have to do that, instead of making me wonder, if this still is the same game?

If I ever play Guild Wars 2, I would do that only to meet some mates again, not for the game as such.

I am not going to learn again some new basic mechanics, research which build would work best. I know I’d waste my time, because there will be again the same situation, when you decide what’s best for players, and you will again implement changes.

I am not going to play this game actively again, because I have a feeling I am a tester for your development team, working on other games and using GW2 as a testing ground. At the same time, no more investment into gems / expansion slots from me.

Good luck people

I know the post is lengthy, so whoever got through the full text: gratz! but I wanted to express my free opinion.

hello there,

It’s been the 3rd day already, that I am not able to use the upgrades panel, edit the Message of the Day text after logging in. Yesterday I managed to do that after some 2 hours spent in game, and logging in and out several times.
That is definitely not helping, would you look at this please.

Hey there,

Most unfortunately, Devious Tessa was the second target. After neutralizing the first one, we had found her, but we have been totally ignored, therefore the Bounty failed.

There is a bug, most definitely, so although not counting on merits from you, I want to signal that, as other guilds / teams might be left without rewards, and that is not something we would be looking forward to going through again, since we need to plan events taking under consideration our guildies’ schedules.

Hello there,

We used to have an app on our website (we are using enjin.com) with Guildwars 2 Twitter feed. Quite handy tool for our guild mates to follow some important info.
Most recently Twitter changed its policy and there are new requirements – one needs to auth feeds / prepare apps now.

Q: Do you have your Twitter app, which we could use on our webpage?

if not:

Q: Can you advise how to have it up and running on our website by sharing some auth info?

Thanks in advance,

I have read many posts here on how people got bored with Guildwars2, and after that I could not find a single sound argument against that, although some reasons were a bit immature (well, nothing wrong with that, many kids play the game).

Guildwars2, one of the most beautiful games around, with great music (from original Guildwars) and very good graphics.

I want to compare my Gw2 experience with Gw1, and there are some things I miss – totally different & demanding story lines depending on the part of the World you come from; difficult dungeons, not that easy as in gw2; guild houses & faction system, allowing to controll cities. Much more complex skill acquiring system, specifically the elite ones. Even the speed clears were fun & required a sound knowledge of the area & foes, as well as what builds to use, now I can compare that with gw2 dungeons.

I have 8 characters (7 of them @ 80th level) , all available classes, all professions @ 400, and pretty soon the 8th will be leveled up to the 80th level.

I am also asking myself, what next?

I can see a lot of work put by Anet into the game, new events & content (such as Living story). I can see that the game behaves much better than couple of months ago, there are less login problems for example.

So people, maybe we have expected too much from Anet after seeing the trailers & reading about the Gw2 before the release? Maybe we are way too addicted to the virtual life, and maybe its us that need some new content update & reset?

All good, but if it was not for my guild mates, who are really fantastic people, I would take a long break and probably came back after a long time.

Regards,
DH

Kenage, you are quite right there. I just had a look at the ‘upcoming changes’, and there is plenty stuff mentioned, but none with regards to Guild Wars. More like a kindergarten games to come (Flame and Frost).
So I guess there is no point in taking active part in ‘Suggesting’ changes, that are so obvious to us.
And, I can understand all these changes you have mentioned they are occupied with, such as flames and frost / leaderboards / class balance / Super Adventure Boxes / revamping dungeons / guild missions. Quite a lot of content to work on, it shows when you cannot login or get kicked out from the game suddenly in the middle of something. A lot of really good ideas, but where are some basic functions? Maybe Anet fired somebody responsible for developing that and he’s gone with access codes to sources?

I agree, where is the “Guild Wars” idea gone?

And let me say, I begin to uderstand, why Anet never replied to such questions (see Essence Snow comment). They are not going to implement these functions. as simple as that, and they do not wish to communicate that.

Hello there,

I want to ask this question, since I have not been able to find any answer from Anet guys. There were some really simple, but very useful Guild Management tools in Guildwars 1, such as – to give only two examples:
- Roster with last login info;
- Guild message of the day, being delivered at a login to every guild mate;

Are you planning to add such functionality, that worked so well in the past, or this will never happen?
I am running a guild, and some basic tools would really help me, because at the moment there are NONE to assist people like me. Including very poor mail system, without the function to mail all guild mates in one go or a history, for example. Not to speak about the ‘Alliance’ page, like it used to be in GW1.

We are putting a lot of work to keep our mates happy, and we have some dedicated bunch here. But quite honestly, why bother to do it? This game begins to be so boring, now additionally you have to spend real life money to get (buy for Gems) some stuff for PvE or PvP during ones life time, because farming for mats is nerfed.

I am an addict to Guildwars, same some of my guildies. Then again, constant login problems and lack of some basic functionality makes me think twice, and consider / test other games. Some of the people who were in my guild on the very beginning, left already.

Vest regards,
DH

PS: I am not sure what do I write here for. I can go for a bet, that I shall see no answer.

Nerf of big events rewards

in Dynamic Events

Posted by: Vitthold.5983

Vitthold.5983

Everybody talks about prices of ecto here, but let me add to it a bit.

1. Prices of globs may go up, simply because the supply is going to be limited, and demand is still high due to crafting, for example;
2. Some events may be much harder to complete, because less people will take part in them;
3. There possibly may be much less people online, because part of their playing style was crafting & selling, while others preferred trading. In both cases there are less resources to play with, and it’s more difficult for a regular player to earn gold ingame to afford paying higher prices for made products;
4. Less people online may have an impact on small & mid sized guilds, struggling at the moment with influence needed for guild missions;
5. Less people online is less fun, as a lot of us enjoys the ingame socializing.

Well, the scenario could be totally different (‘and now let’s talk about something totally different’, like Monty Python used to say):
1. Ecto prices will go up, then down, and stabilize on a certain level, feasible for everybody;
2. More people will start playing (actually – more accounts) to farm rares from events. Some would probably call them bots;

I am really curious how this economy change will impact on player’s behaviour.

The new race: Risen and Abbadons' come back

in Suggestions

Posted by: Vitthold.5983

Vitthold.5983

Hey there,

Since there are many undiscovered / hidden areas on the world map, the game is young and this is the right place to post suggestions, I would like to present mine.

To cut the story short, there is a place for a new playable race – The Risen, with The Boss: Fallen God Abbadon, that regained his powers again.

The Come Back

After the last Dragon was defeated, fighters from all races of Tyria went back to their homes, to clean their lands from Risen and other corrupted, hostile remains. Without dragons backing them up, the fight was much easier.

Years passed, and Tyria was flourishing, heroes of last wars settled far away from each other, and the past events’ memory remained slowly only in stones. New generations lived their own lives, and the sun over Tyria used to wake them up to new, happy mornings.

Finally, there were only a few left, who remembered Dragons and shadows of Orr.
There was only one, who remembered The Fallen One, Abbadon. He lived his very long life in the deserted, long forgotten area, demolished by dragons and even more ancient events.

He could never believe, that Abbadon was dead. The last one from the victorious heroes of Tyria, who took part in killing the Abbadon, could not rest in peace. Centuries passed, and the Last Hero was abandoned and forgotten by all, with stories about the Old Weirdo being told to kids.

The Last Hero felt the change coming, the strange, dark energy vibrating with so insubstantial power, that even butterflies were not alarmed. But he felt it with his heart, which remained pure for centuries, with his soul essence.

Alarmed by the overwhelming, simple irresistible terror surfacing from the Abyss, left his cave to warn Tyria.

Nearly invisible energy particles swarmed Tyria’s darkest land, uninhabited by any race since eons. These smallest elements were the remains of Abbadon. Abbadon was never dead, neither was he alive. Floating in between the life and death’s realms, regaining his power century after century, he finally was able to send the seeds of Death and plant them. With more and more seeds planted, he was returning to his existence and restoring his powers.
And then he claimed the lands again.
Risen were on the march again. This time with the most powerful ally that no race was able to destroy.
The Fallen God returned.
Tyria was in danger.
Tyria needed heroes again.
….

Idea behind the story:
New playable race – Risen and new lands (still a lot of undiscovered map)
Professions: Mages (skills mixed: necro / ele) and Fighters (skills mixed: Ranger / guardian)
Basic storyline:
1. Characters level up as usual, and can become Risen when captured by Abbadon’s forces after reaching 80th level – special mission, choice to be made there;
2. After becoming a Risen, characters home area is in the new territory and they are moved there. To revert, the character has to undergo several missions and ‘clean’ itself;
3. The new race can fight other races in its territory and periodically they can raid regular Orr areas – thus PvE is getting a real enhancement – PvE characters will fight human intelligence, not AI. Other races visit the Risen territory because of the unseen riches they can loot, and the need to destroy Risen / Abbadon;
4. Waypoints for other races are placed on the outside boundaries of the territory, so raiders have to discover the area each time they are there, and cannot save the map. Risen see everything and have more waypoints, so they can hunt ‘visitors’.

All comments are welcome!

Yours,
Dehumanizzer

It might have been a positive solution this time, since the battle was bugged – all npcs died and I was fighting alone. I was getting through, though, ressing npcs., and when the battle was getting close to the moment when dragon was to show up and fight, I got disconnected. The game was unable to contact the login servers.
