Hey Ebon and everyone else experiencing this issue,

I had the same problems this very morning: within a few minutes of gameplay the game would freeze, the monitor would go black, I would still hear game sound for a few seconds, then the game crashed. I was able to pinpoint the issue down to Windows 7 attempting to install a new nvidia driver and constantly failing (look in your Windows Update logs to see if this is the case for you). Windows 7 update has a bit of a reputation of not installing drivers correctly at times, so I went to nvidia’s site, found my specific video card, and manually installed the driver from nvidia’s website. This worked perfectly, and the game now runs fine.

From the specs you posted, Ebon, I see you use the Geforce series (as do I) and are also running Windows 7. Please give this a shot if the problems persist. This goes for everyone else too.

Your problem did sound like a graphics issue, but ours is different.
Our game freezes, with sounds, and the only way to end the game is CRTL+ALT+DEL.
And that is from the very first second the last patch rolled in.
Weeks before, I never had a single crash.

I crashed after about 2 minutes , and I followed every step aswell.

Ebon can you write here again if you got a solution for this?
Because your problem is exactly the same as mine. ^^

I really tried anything, nothing helps on that problem.

I have the same problem since 15/11, but none of the Mods or Tech guys seem to care about it.
They care about the event , and new updates, but not how to fix problems caused by corrupt patches.

Okay so its 3 days since this patch rolled in.
Theres still NO SINGLE WORD from any mod about this?

No, this is enough. I don’t want this anymore.

First this patch, now the 0-care situation about people having problems after the patch.

Its not just that this patch was a massive failure, disregard the failed ascension stuff ect., but since that patch about 20% of the community can’t play because of crashes and freezes. I freeze every 2 minutes, I can’t even get to warp a single time or finish 1 mob or whatever.

I’m sick of it. I can only really play on weekends and they give us this stupid patch. Now I can’t play this game anymore unless they fix it, and other can’t either.
The rest of the GW1 community will end up quitting (as I will do today, im going back to gw1), and the small wow part will go back to wow aswell.

I favor of this glorious game, DELETE this patch, never make it happen, apologize, people are happy.

Make all ascended gear into exotics, with appropriately reduced stats, and give them normal upgrade slots. Remove infusions from the game. Remove agony from the game.

I 90% agree with that. All ascended into exotics, nerf the stats so they’re at the same level as level 80 exotics, and removing infusion slots.
Well, why not keeping agony in, but weaker as it is then, so it feels like a real status alignment instead of a “you need good gears or you die by my new alignment”-type of alignment.

New content : YAY
New stat increases : NAY

Anet, why are you doing this? You should know about GW1, how well it worked with just new content and new gear, but WITHOUT stat increases.

Now, a lot, and I meant a lot, will either refund or just quit the game, because if this treadmill goes on this game is not better then any other mmo in the endgame.

I hope they turn otherwise after reading all this.

Because a lot of people can’t play the game at all, including me.
For more then 24h now,(the moment the patch rolled in) I’m unable to play for a longer session then 5 minutes before freezing or crashing.

Would be bad if a lot of people miss the event because of this.
The tech-section is totally being ignored, nobody is taking a statement there on when its getting fixed.
I love that game and don’t want to quit, but this is certainly a no-go.

I agree on the Ascendent gear, it really should be PvE only. Or else we’re seeing over selves in a never ending rotating circle with new gear that always forces WvW players to go back to PvE for HOURS and grind the new gear.

It would be totally okay if the gear is PvE only, though. Then its fun to collect them as prestige items in WvW.

I set everything to lowest already, that’s not fixing the problem at all.

I wonder if they do a maintenance soon.
I mean, I paid for the game and I wanna play it. Its not like the servers are offline, a lot of people can play, but still numerous can’t because of the latest patch.
Still not a single word from the tech-team about this.9

What Yridia wrote happened to me the first days on GW.
I was pretty shocked when my friend was like " Hey I send you xx", and I was like “No way I never got anything”.
A few days later when I thought I had too much mails from client requests I was deleting them all (including friend stuff), and got that disappearing message.

Yeah, this game takes alot of CPU.
I’m running on 60fps with a hexa core, my girlfriend, however, has a maximum of 40 in PvE and 25~ in WvW. She has a quad core.

its not funny anymore. Seriously.
I’m not flaming or anything, but this is awkward.

The patch was released yesterday, and since then, more and more people I hear about get this Freeze after a short time, or a crash with a report option.
And in this time, I haven’t seen a single person from the team replying to this or when this is fixed.
This is CERTAINLY the patch that caused it, a second before the patch I NEVER had problems with GW, maybe a crash every now and then (1 in 2 weeks).

But why is nobody giving us atleast a statement on how or when it is fixed?
A part of your playerbase can’t go and participate on the high-seeing-forward event, which the main reason I’m writing here now.
If there wouldn’t be an important event going on, I would wait before this is getting fixed, but imho this is an important matter you should actually go look after, so we can be on the event.

Would be cool if anybody atleast telling us whats happening here. I’m sitting on hot stones half the day and wait before I go online again.

PS: My fastest crash was after 6 seconds. Couldn’t even write something ingame.
PSS: No it’s not fixed by deleting the Local.dat, neither does restarting the computer, repairing the game or reinstalling.

A lot of people having that issue right now. I hope they fix this before the event, or else im seeing.. “black”.

That does not work, since this is not the same problem as they had.

My fastest crash after being ingame was about 5 seconds.
Logged in, took one step or two steps and crash.
Another time a freeze after a couple of steps.
Sometimes I survive for 3 minutes without any crashes. This is totally awkward.

Oh atleast im not the only person who got this issue. I’m having the same problem here, game either crashes with the exact same error message as the thread starter, or my game freezes and I need to restart.
And that before the event, great.
I’m getting mad if I can’t be on the event this weekend. I missed the halloween event already.
