So the last couple of days I’ve been experiencing a quite weird lag/ping issue.
My internet itself seems perfectly fine. When I stand in HOTM or WvW, no matter how much stuff is going on around me my ping stays perfecly fine and stable around 40. Now when I que up for pvp and get into a match, the ping remains around 40, however as soon as the match actually starts (so basically after the brief timer.. 60s or whatever it is) things go insane. The second the spawn gates open my ping jumps to 300-800 which is pretty much unplayable. During that time however my conenction outside guildwars 2 stays perfectly fine.
I’m curious, does anyone else experience that awesome feature as well? :P

good to have a pro player enlighten me on such deep subjects, im looking forward to get good enough to play with pros like you one day, oh wait according to you i already do
Never said I was a pro. Anyways, I’m getting bored. Either bring arguments that are actually making sense to make your point or, well, just give up. You are proving my point of you having no clue over and over again.

strange, never played against a mesmer who didnt have desperate decoy or didnt use continuum split, but perhaps thats probably just because of my noob trash MMR, true pro players never use those
Funny. Continuum split is no automatic defensive trait. And the usual chrono shatter is played without desperate decoy.
So yes, you either really have no clue or need to blame your mmr.

I’m fairly certain he meant that automatic defensive traits prevent mesmers from being 100-0’ed.
Well, the usual chrono shatter has no such passives so that’s another sad try to make an argument. That one guy obviously has very few clue. Maybe 100-0 was a bit too harsh, but we all know there are no doubts a thief will kill a shatter mesmer in no time. Hell al it takes is to land steal followed by a backstab and maybe 2 autos. to kill a marauder shatter mes on full health.
thief and rev have to spend their resources and cooldowns to move at an increased speed
mesmer just presses one button for instant movement and requires only 1 utility skill for that
Rev will be compeltely fine to fight a mesmer on arival, so would a thief be (even more so since a thief can 100-0 a mesmer). True strength of portal is not even using it for himself but to enhance the whole teams rotation which is a near impossible task in solo q. And as I said, portal is not weak. It just does not yield as many advantages as you seem to think right now, nor does it make shatter mesmer really strong.
i see my fame goes ahead of me
Fame? I happened to see you in game recently and do remember your name – however not for reasons you would like to hear.
But that’s not even the point, why do you keep loading your nonsense in this thread? I udnerstand it’s ahrd for you when people keep saying thief was so strong yet you have issues vs shatter mesmers. Would be hard for me to believe that they were weak as well in your spot, but trust me, the issue is on your side, not the mesmers.
isnt everyone a top player in this silly casual game? lol
here’s a free tip from one of thousands of top players in this game: put a portal utility skill on your skill bar and enjoy making free pressure on 2 points at once
You are far far away from being anywhere above average. Also with thief and rev mobility, it is surprisingly hard putting pressure on 2 nodes – even more so since you have to disengage as soon as one of said classes (equally skilled, palyerwise that is) appear nearby in a 1v1 situation. I’m not saying portal was weak – it’s just not in an as strong spot as you might think.
its pretty simple, full damage mesmer is very strong whether its power or condi
Shatter mesmer is nowhere enar “very strong”. That’s simply not true for multiple reasons (Which have been posted in several threads by now..).
But having seen your idea of rotations is and reading all the nonsense you tend to say in team chat I do not expect you to understand.
If one currently plays shatter mesmer, it does not really have much impact on a match at all. In fact it barely matters if one plays exceptionally well or rather bad, it’s simply a matter of how well your teammates do. You basically have to disengage from literally every single 1v1 and there are tons of classes that fullfil the 1v1 role a lot better (thief, rev..). Moa which actually did allow shatter mesmers to do some ehavy lifting pre patch due to bunker meta is simply not necessary anymore cause people go down quickly now anyways if focused well (That being said, moa still can be strong vs necros.. but simply not encessary). So why would one even bring a shatter mesmer? Portal? With all the revs and theifs around even the mobility advantage of that is limited. Hence a shatter mesmer technically has no role which other classes cannot fulfil better – so where exactly is a shatter mesmer, no matter how good its played “very strong”?
Condi mesmer I have yet to try/meet, but I personally have never enyojed playing a condition emsmer build. It might be able to go for 1v1s, but I sense troubles vs necros (unless you moa condiburst them or something) who happen to be a pretty comon class right now. Also without being able to kill scrappers (which again I have no clue if they can or not but people said they could not really beta them in here) that once again leaves them in a rather limited role? We’ll see I guess.

Fun little ele build for tpvp. Might not be the strongest "cele dd cough cough), but certainly fun to play. It evolves around landing your cc for the lightning rod proc, combining them with a phoenix burst. Blinding ashes gives decent survivability, hardcoutners are condition heavy builds.
Because why not.
Small achievement at 15. Medium at 500. Large at 1000.
Maybe at 500, give the tittle minuteman or something.
Also, since I don’t want to make another thread for this. Right now if you check the “mute GW2 when tabbed out” box you still can hear the match found horn when tabbed, but can’t hear the “hold onto your points, seize theirs” or “the match starts soon” announcements when tabbed. Would be nice if we could hear those announcements too when tabbed.
I think that’s one awesome little idea.
It’d be great if it would happen!

Stopped reading there. Says everything about your average opponents and yourself necessary to judge your reliability on that matter.

^This.
As long as there is a Ladder/point per win/loss based leaderbord it will always, no matter what you change and do be heavily dependent of the number of games you play. Even more so if the math thingy behind all this is aimed to get people to a 50% w/l ratio for better matches while at the same time you seem to gain more points per win than you lose per loss. The only purpose of such algorithm is an overly complicated way to count matches played (with some errors even! You could do better and easier btw – ask any 1st grade school kid about how addition works – they might be able to help out). Of course I understand that it is encessary to put some impact on matches palyed or we’d see 1win:0loss people dominate the rankings – but this can’t be it. If we wanted a ranking for time devoted to this match we’d look at the AP leaderboards (or that weird chinese VIP emporer title). I guess most of us regular pvp players (be it high mmr or lower like myself) who enjoy a competetive gamemode agree that the old leaderbords were a lot better than this.
Why are we not getting it back then? I honnestly believe the main issue is simply that noone at Anet seems to understand what PvP stands for. PvP stands for palyer versus palyer for a reason: It is about competition – and about comparing each others skill at the game. And this is definitely not meassured through the time played but simply by winning vs others. And the better those enemies are the higher you should be on the leaderbords. The big surprise however is, you actually already do have the perfect sorting system: MMR! Add some decay to it and you got a perfect viable leaderbord.
From what I have read in some other thread, some people at Anet seem to be afraid of toxity and elitist behaviour if MMR was made public in any way. But hey, those are the people who did not get the sense of PvP at all. There already is elitist behaviour and toxity anyways, it won’t get worse just ebcause all of a sudden people see the truth. It will deillusionize some, make some people very happy and end the discussion where people shout at each other about who was better. As already mentioned, it is about competing and comparing with other Players. Understand that or you might as well replace PvP with some sort of speed clearing dungeons or anything, because what we currently have is just half the PvP.
Right now we only have real competition and sort of rankings for highest tier palyers through the weekly cups. I even got a tiny little hint for you in case you are scared to scare off the mid and low tier players by having MMR based leaderboards: Show more than 1000 names on it. Then people can comapre to their friends and other palyers they get matched against regularely and will be able to actually see themselves improve. I’m fairly sure they’d enjoy that more than pointless grinding (I would! No matter if I was working to get to rank #1 or #1500 as next goal). As for rewards: Add soemthing like for the WvW seasons to the PvP ones. Some sort of cheap titles the grinders and PvE’ers can brag with and some useless reward box with a couple of random rares, greens, whatever in it and then add good rewards for the leaderbrod’s top people. Hell, you could even award people for climbing a certain amount in the eladerboards of their previous position during a season. Once the PvP population increases a lot, add divisions and everyone will be able to have access to the “winners” rewards in their division. That, along with the regular reward paths should be enough to give people motivation to play PvP. And on a side note, do not underestimate the influence of a good leaderbord on peoples motivation.

The sad part is that its true for the most part. A casual solo Q player will never come close to top rank like in the previous system.
‘Casuals’ usualy aren’t top players, so they shouldn’t be on top of leaderboards.
Problem is completly different, top players probably won’t be on top of it with current system no matter if they solo Q or premade.
Then again as casual you will most likely not even end in the top 1000 and never be able to compare with others sicne you will not even be on the eladerboards. I wonder what’s so ahrd about not keeping it restricted to top 1000 only. Or is the GW2 PvP community limited to 1000 players?
Same goes for solo palyers. No way they will end on those eladerboards if they are, say, not high end players. But I for myself, no matter where I end up in the end would still like to see a rank instead of just % or whatever they’ll show in the end.
