I’ve got a question. More like for the GMs.

I think we can make it clear that on the release day the download servers are going to overloaded. Download speed will be pretty low. Conections will be lost etc.

Besides not all of us got super fast internet.

So my question is:

- Is there any chance for the game to be able to download like 1/2 days before relase day? Just download – non playable.

Interesting I have a similar problem. Any in game graphics setting has little to no effect to extremity low FPS. Looking at my CPU and GPU the CPU is not Throttling up and the GPU is at barely 50%.
Try using this http://coderbag.com/Programming-C/CPU-core-parking-manager.
And bring your CPU up to a faster minimum frequency. Then check your performance again.
On my system I get a direct proportional increase in FPS to CPU minimum frequency.
Seemingly pointing to a problem with GW2? Other management programs, etc
I do not know if you will have the same effect but if you do this will help point out where the problem may lie.

The price of i5 4690k is not do bad. Got to check performance diference with other games.

I’ve read on my own that oced fx6300 cant reach 50% of i5.

i use FX 6300. Overclock it to 4.4 GHZ and you will be fine

The only thing i SLOWLY start thinging about is getting better fan and overclock.
I’ve read that i can make it to 4.3 safely.
4.5→5 is water cooling.

But i would love to see someone with tuned fx6300 with above conditions.

Ofc I expect. 40-50 stable fps in la this way. Otherwise this is not worth overclocking at all.

After recent updates Alt+tabbing the game just to change music kills the game.
Cpu is still in use, memory as well.
You can look at the screen and ppl around You run as the game is working fine, but can’t go back to it.

It behaves like crashed application. Only way to play game is to force kill it and start over.

Dunno if this will help but at least gonna post it cuz it helped me while i was asking anet for help, and found solution on my own, on my old laptop.

I’m using windows so dunno what it is on mac.

Simply i had to increase the virtual memory, and that fixed the problem.
Let’s hope this will do the trick.

I used to have horrible lag issues a few months ago. Originally I had a 4yr old iBuyPower, had 4GB of just generic RAM, an old i3 550, and an even older GPU (I have no clue what it was anymore). Originally GW2 ran at around 45 FPS, than the last year it took a massive hit. I was getting 12 FPS just watching other players. Looking at the ground I would get 45 FPS again. After 6 months of this I gave up. I reinstalled, cleaned my PC and did everything…not a single thing worked. I have a background in CS so I took a closer look at the parts. Come to find, my motherboard was failing, the CPU was somehow damaged. Soooo I dropped $1000 on an Asus Maximus Hero 7, an i7 4790k, 16 GB Fury X RAM, with a 120GB SSD for the OS, 800 watt PSU, with an HD Radeon 6870 (an older card, I know). I am now at 60fps…if I drop the textures a little I am more. So…maybe you should check your parts? Just my two cents.

Well then I will test Diablo 3 and eso which I’ve used to play on laptop as well, following that these game shuld run crappy as well now.

So i run the game with the same settings on the same laptop using the same amd panel settings, and it’s my fault.

Just happened that I’ve reinstalled system on my laptop and downloaded gw2 again (playing on same client since head start).

So I’ve used to have 30-40 FPS on mixed medium – high settings for example by just killing foes on low lvl charr zone. And now? Everything on low and ~24 FPS.

They are messing up this game.

Tbh, it’s not just about that silly “amd” vs “intel”. There are many posts where ppl had like 60 FPS but update… after update… and next.. NOPE… ~35-40 FPS? What the hell ate 20 FPS? And why after 3 years UI still takes ~3-5?

( I’ve sensed that when was playing on laptop – had 35 in divinity… nope – update 25 ) .

So they CAN fix it. If they took fps away they can bring it back. Cmon srsly. Nothing changed graphically.

But no " we did nothing ". So here I am. Still bumping w8ing for some anet answer.
Bet many ppl would be glad to hear something about that fps missing.

I can send a funny screenshot from gw2 where just by STARING on grass with some light behind i drop from 50 to 29 FPS.

As well I’ve uploaded previously where just by standing with few ppl around I’ve got ~25FPS.

Nothign to do with zergs.

So I still see no difference in windows 10.

Oh yeah. I’m continuing as this is still not fixed.

I’m about to finish my exams so I will finally be able to play gw2 for a while.

So any new Idea? Or maybe Anet can post something about fixing this or something.

Most of pve map are kinda stable ~35-40 FPS
PvP hurts below 30 FPS.
Some places like that one i love in Dry Top causes drop, even if there are just like 5 ppl around.
Boss fights is ofc one big joke. Maw ~10 FPS.
So far the only reason i visit www is for daily badges spender.
So Edge of Mists start place ~35 FPS.

I’m not considering that at all. The point is the same. I bought pc, wasted lot of money on it. And while other game works fine gw2 Chokes in la with 3 ppl next to the mystic forge.

There got to be other way than wasting more $ on upgrading already fine pc.

Cuz atm for me next step is testing game under Win 10.
Got to try anything i Can (harmless) to make it ‘run’, instead of having ‘slideshow’.

We know how gw2 hates amd but this solves nothing. So we still fight here and keep w8ing for some official answer WHEN are they going to fix it.

While Dragon Age FPS is kinda more stable now during combat.

So either I’m still opened for new ideas and official answer when is this going to be fixed.

you could try setting gw2 affinity in task manager to use only cores 0 2 4 so that its not using the combined FPU

i am doubting this issue is graphics card related if graphics settings change nothing its a cpu bottleneck

The best way to ensure Core Parking is off is by pressing the Windows Key + R, type regedit, Click Edit -> Find -> 0cc5b647-c1df-4637-891a-dec35c318583. Search this key and make sure ValueMin and ValueMax are both set to 0. Press F3 to find the next batch – rinse & repeat until you reach the end.

I have about the same setup, FX 6300 – 8G RAM – XFX R9 270x – ASRock 990FX board, and I pull up to 70 FPS PVE world depending on the map and population. LA does dip to around 30-35 FPS norm, 20-25 heavily populated. SW and DT – 40FPS most of the time.

My Settings in the CCC:

I am running the Omega Drivers – both chipset and GPU.

I’ve made some changes following what You wrote and i got few more fps in open area.
But in Dry Top is still the same.

I’m kinda the same with FPS as You.

But that’s the problem.

I can’t even get stable ~40 FPS by lowering my settings.
I still keep dropping in la even on LOW settings barely ~30.

So…. kinda BUMP hoping for some more ideas.

I will have no problem with gettin Dragon age inquisiton just to take screens how well it runs. I just won’t agree with the fact that this game works like crap and the same is on low settings.

Volmarg, have you tried to play in windowed full screen? I will mostly do nothing, but you don’t lose anything to try…
Also have you tried different drivers?

Latest + windowed = same effect.

we got the same cpu but different gpu, i got sapphire r9 280x 3gb and 1680×1050 reso.

when i first played the game i also got an fps for about… 20MAX all low settings. If i put the settings on high i got a max of 9fps.

Well that was frustrating I almost quit the game. Then I’ve read the sticky on top about the fps stuffs.

What I did was, From PCIE3 which my video card was installed I switch it to PCIE2, why? Because it is the nearest slot on my processor. Even though there is a possibility that it won’t work well i tried it.
Then I installed the driver again, I did not uninstalled the driver, I just put in the installer and installed it, as is.
I open the control center, follow the settings on sticky, open the game, follow the settings on sticky.
And guess what, in high settings i got around 60fps.

No overclocked was made.

well just saying my part.

At least right now i had time to check it out.
Sadly my card is in the closest slot next to the CPU.
However i need to check some of the mainboard manuals. As on internet there is nothing about PCIE3, and some of the application shows that I’m using one. A bit confusing.

I still have to take screens of the 2 cpu running gw2.

During week i should have some time.

Btw I’ve installed shadow of mordor.
This is so sad… just check my previous gw2 screens.
And this shadow of mordor screen with every video setting on high +AA.

I’ve read the posts on my way from work (train).

I will provide the screens of 2 core running, and will check how is it about the PCIE slot – but in this case i doubt i can do anything unless more ppl will provide some more information like that. I still go warranty on pc so i don’t want to mess up on my own.

But if it’s already in the correct place then i won’t have to do anything.

I don’t have time to do this stuff today, got to prepare for university on this weekend, hopefully i can do it tommorow as I want to solve this problem.

Put Frame limiter to unlimited and uncheck High-res character textures and V-sync, and make sure you gpu is working at x16. Besides that, the only way to increase fps is by overclocking the cpu and ram.

Because, even all your rage about wrong hardware, YES, FX cpu single core performance sucks. And the game doesn’t care about how many cores are there, or how old or new the cpu is, all it asks is single core performance.
So you can improve your performance, but to a certain limit, determinated by you cpu single core performance
Is like asking to fill an olympic swimming-pool for tomorrow with a garden hose.

They will never solve the problem with low single core performance cpu (not only AMD) because that would require a deep and hard to do rewrite of their engine, plus also upgrading to a newer API. Work that would take millions od dollars and literally years to do.

PD: FX cpu are also cripples by only having pcie 2.0. This game takes quite advantage of better pcie speed, specially in empty places where you can easily see a 20fps jump between x8 and x16.

I’ve read alot about this, but how about doing something about AMD, and multi CPU problems already? Huh?
I know that progrraming is not easy stuff:
- It works… Hmmm I don’t know why.
- It stopped working…. I don’t know why.

But right now i type as a player. Seeing that other ppl are mad too.
My friend got a bit worse pc than mine.

So what’s the problem?
- Dying Light ( New game ) Everything on high- work’s light charm
- Skyrim with many visual friendly mods – work’s like a charm
- Elder scrolls online on Highest + sweetfx – work’s like a charm
- Shadow of mordor -> got to test

But gw2… ho ho ho…… gw2 is like….. NOPE!
- Outside town 30-40 FPS… In la ~27-30

I’ve bought new pc mostly cuz there was fps drop after recent story update or something. And after seeing how expansion looks like, I’ve decided that it’s time for new pc so i can handle it well.

But no!

I’ve just entered Dry Top.
- FPS goes drasticly down ~25-30
- Reduced shadows…. still nothing
- Shaders on medium +2 FPS
- Model limits…. +1FPS
- Reflection to non +0FPS

You are kidding right? After ~2.5 Years of playing on my laptop i bought desktop pc for this game mostly and for skyrim.

I’ve read Your guide about AMD settings. Made em and ofc, thanks for ~+2-4 FPS but this is still not it.

Don’t ppl type that:
- Intel> Amd.
- Gw2 doesnt like AMD
- Gw2 prefers better singe threaded cores
- Gw2 doesn’t handle multicore to well

BUT If Yout got an idea what can help besides" buy other hardware" then I will read em with pleasure.

-Atlanta -> “Showed connection error, retry” aaaand…. NOPE – 36kb sent
-Boston -> Nope – 31kb sent
-Brazil-> Nope
-France-> Nope

This is some joke.

The TraceRoute is not even MAKING IT to the anet servers.
I see my connection going out, ending on the VPN, but doesn’t go any further.
Not with original gw2.exe , and neither with gw2setup change to gw2.exe

The only one more thing I can do is to leave my pc for entire night and day while I will be at work. Maybe it will finally “Initialize” something.

Renaming doesn’t work.
-fix doesn’t work
-Streaming (bla bla something) doesn’t work.

Putting setup in completely new place. Crashes.

Nothing new.

Yup. Third reset friday in a row where between 7 and 8 pm my time I dc and then cannot login for around 60-90 minutes. I have no network issues otherwise, no lag or anything either before or after this “event”. It’s the login server I connect to that simply dies during this time. EDIT: Which strongly suggests it’s getting overloaded – probably because of WvW reset – to the point of crapping out.

GMT here as i recon ( hell knows since we got winter/summer time).
And i got problems between 6pm-10pm.
I got this daily.
I can only play mostly at this time cuz of work.
Even daily is barely “do-able”.
And yes, can’t even login properly.
