What is the advantage of playing WVW now?

I’ve always believed that the rewards in WvW were ordinary, badges are far too easy to get, and you get crap for them.

The question i have is how to distinguish between, roamers, small havoc groups, guild groups and general zerg?

My friend and i just roam—> kill sentries, supply caravans, take camps and kill other people. We spend hours going up against 2v2, 2v3 and sometimes 2v4.
We take no towers or garrisons, but we play our part in slowing down enemy progression.
Does it require more concentration in a 2v2 or pressing 1 in a zerg(guardian staff or necro F1 number 4 etc) basically tagging, which all go towards kills.
Iam not certain about EoTM events, but iam fairly sure some of their stuff also goes towards wvw AP.
You can have an ep running in the background and be getting 100’s of kills.
What does the person get for continuously tapping enemy garrisons, preventing quick transition by the opposition(we all know how annoying this is). In the mean time the zerg is raking in kama, kills, wxp, xp —>AP.

What does the scout get?
What does the person escorting the supply caravan get?
They get no kills.
Yet we need all aspects, we need the roamers, scouts, havok groups and zergs.

How to reward each group fairly?
By effectiveness? difficulty? numbers?

Quick questions to the Anet folks, WHY after EVERY patch you guys BREAK stuff that was working fine before.
PLEASE answer that question, been playing since beta and its 100% money back guarantee that you WILL break something after a patch. WHY? cant be bothered testing it on test server?
Simple question!

Why break it when it was working fine moments before.

In general i understand the game is now stale, PvE is dog boring. They tried a game without the trinity and its resulted in huge unbalance in the game. The game will continue to fade as other games come out.
Come on Anet give it one last push to go off on. (and start working on a gw3)

“Oh my god, TESO will kill GW2” – Nope
“Ok, Wildstar will kill GW2” – Nope
“Fine, ArchAge will kill GW2 for sure” – Nope

As long as no other game offer a fast paced combat style and large scale PvP, GW2 will continue to live no matter how much you naysayers keep repeating your chorus of “gaem is ded”.

Never said the game was dead, i said the game will continue to fade.
Which it is, unfortunate but inevitable. The game sold 3.5mil in the first 4 months and all up dunno maybe 5mil.
Alot of players who bought the game have drifted off and more and more are doing so. Faster then i would like. The longer the changes which need to be made aren’t made, people will get frustrated and leave.

Why leave EotM alone? It is a WvW map after all. If people want to Karma train there, they need to understand that they will be fodder for the people who do WvW. People who do go there, they NEED to understand it really is a training ground for WvW, not just a place to gain Karma and level.

The blobs just avoiding fighting each other is a little pathetic and sad.

Actually it IS a training ground for WvW already, and in a good way, since it allow people to start getting basic understanding of quite some few WvW mechanisms like :
- supplies and supplies management
- siege
- being hit by siege
- what positionning can/can’t do
- choice of routes
- basic zerg fights in unorganized ways

It can’t be more than that (and won’t ever unless you totally change it, hence ruining it) because :
- it’s too short matchups, hence not allowing upgrades and such (because either it’s pointless because recapped too fast, or it’s too powerful and you have a map that is “turtling all around” for 3h wich is bad
- the whole map is a nightmare of pathing, vericality, choke points, places to fell of and so on, making it the worst possible and toxic environnement for WvW (there is a reason all the self called “WvW L33ts” ran away from it when they could easily farm and chestbeat by bullying upscaled, it’s a cheesy map WORSE than Skyhammer… ie : a place to goof around, but that is toxic as Hell and totally unbalanced for “serious” play)
- the whole map makes EB Keeps and corner look “uber mega supra well balanced” in comparison, and it’s not even taking the ridiculous buffs and tools in each corner into account
- most npcs and such don’t work like the ones in WvW (it would probably be a good idea to upgrade Tower and Keep Lords in WvW and camp Npcs in WvW to EotM Levels but that’s another question altogether).

EotM is basically the “free for all, not serious, goof around and have fun” place where randoms come to play football/Soccer/whatever without minding, while WvW is more akin to organized leagues and teams and so on (not at a professional level mind you).

It’s what was needed, and is really nice.
Kill the rewards, you kill EotM, kitten off all the WvWers that use it for alts leveling and grinding (you know, those same people actually bringing the profs/builds you need/want and can’t have, and filling in everytime there is a need for something else than Guardians/Warriors…), making mainly WvW players not able to get income either (or making it harder on those that don’t want to run dungeons and kitten) and so on.

Stop focusing that much on EotM, if you don’t like it, ignore it, it’s not hurting anything at all.

There is actually quite often blob fights in EotM. You would know if you actually played it a bit…..

Actually it IS a training ground for WvW already, and in a good way, since it allow people to start getting basic understanding of quite some few WvW mechanisms like :

- choice of routes
Follow zerg Tick

- basic zerg fights in unorganized ways
Follow zerg and press tab and then follow by pressing 1 Tick

These guys become perfect little zerglings by the time they reach 80. Excellent, bring that zergling xp into wvw.

Agreed they need to “freshen” up wvw, but will they?

OK so give them the same experience for capturing towers, but give ZERO WXP and 80% less badges. Badges should only be gotten via player kills, earn it, not get 15 from killing a champion while pressing 1.

If they were to drastically reduce rewards in Eotm, well the pvers could go back to pve lands. Isnt that what anet want? And the ones that want to can come to wvw.

Would i be upset if there were ques on my server? Nope
Why? Yesterday all but 1 map was outnumbered, in the middle of the wvw season week, completely dead. Second most populated server on NA.

Better fights in EotM. Loot doesn’t really matter.

From the time ive spent in there, it would seem the people prefer to avoid fights since this would ruin their kama train. Anyone trying to defend a tower gets abused on the forums for “ruining” their fun.

You really think EotM is the issue here? As you stated it was an answer to over populated servers to do something while they waited for a que, but now you are on edge due to the popularity and that most will chose to play in EotM than WvW. Maybe Anet should redo the maps in WvW to be like EotM? or make guild only commander tags that only your guild can see, shrink the zerg size to 25 only any more will bring a debuff to the zerg that makes them show up on the map to other worlds, or gives them a 25 perm Vulnerability stack till they die. All you I can tell you is wish in one hand and kitten in the other, which will fill up first?

If its truly popular because of the terrain and the ‘fights’, then people wont mind the reduction in rewards by 80%+
Do you really believe that anet will change WvW maps drastically after the changes they have made to the borderlands in their eyes not that long ago.
The zerging will never change in wvw, its part and parcel. I came to that conclusion long ago, they tried by adding sentries, and supply traps and now siege traps, but the zergs will prosper.

WHAAAT nooo way i can already hear it.
What is the purpose of Eotm? Its supposed to function as an overflow, mess about, lounge room area, while waiting to ENTER WvW.
I was in Eotm while qued for EB and busted on an episode while following the zerg around. I could not believe how much i was being rewarded for killling time holy hanna.
MORE badges then WvW, more Kama then WvW, more WXP then WvW, more levels gained, more everything.
No wonder there are sooo many people in here.
And then there are alot of days where i will be roaming the borderlands with a friend and not see more then 2-3 server allies, for hours on end.
What the hell Anet
Eotm contributes close to nothing for the WvW’ers, just takes people away from it.
Oh yer iam on Jade Quarry, thats right a TIER 1 server, just in case someone was bout to say move to a more populated server.
Right now everyone brings their low levels here to level up, you can level up 1-80 in couple of days.
Reduce the rewards massively and lets get some life back into WvW.
iam prepared for the salty response.

Oh btw, no thanks for making this seasons achievements so boring and easy, took like 10min when i was qued in Eotm while watching eps.

What the hell is up with you anet people???? WHY must the game break EVERY kitteng time there is an update.
You guys need to pull your kitten fingers out and sort this disconnection issue. Do you guys test anything out before a patch comes out?
I have been disconnected from solo que 4 times in 3 games.

Metabolic Primer broken

Yer yer someones posted on this topic before, dont care. want to bring it to the Anet hamsters attention yet again.
So i have used the metabolic primer now on my mesmer 3 times, 1 time on my guardian and 1 time on my engineer. ALL these characters are able to use the metabolic primer as intended. First i activate the primer and then consume the food, the food timer then matches up with the metabolic primers timer.

HOWEVER this does NOT work on my ranger. I do the exact same thing as i do on my other characters but the countdown timer on the food does NOT match up with the timer on the primer.
Why does it not work for my Ranger?? This is GEM related stuff Anet, you know the stuff you guys love for us to acquire. Fix it please.

So flipping worried about the amount of glitches and bugs and other kittene that will come with the april 15th patch. I 100% know that something will break, i just know it, we all know it. In fact it wouldnt be Anet if something didnt break after every update.

Metabolic Primer not working

Confirmed, when i first used it it on my mesmer it was fine. i then transferred the primer to my bank and had my ranger use the pizza consumable. Nothing happened as it should of, i tried other random foods, nothing. Both times i have been either in WvW or PvE area, i think i initially used it in pve area. Nevertheless it shouldnt make a difference.
Please fix this, especially since the WvW event will be beginning next week. Very annoying since i spent gems on it.

First of all this mmo is made for the casual gamer, lets be honest now. How hard is it to level up to 80? easy as taking a kitten. Quests on the fly(hearts), events every minute, crafting experience, WvW karma trains, brainless AI. These all lead to quick leveling.

There are some good things about this game:
Environment is brilliant. Go for a cruise through some of the different terrain and you will see.
Actions on the fly, love not having to stop to cast stuff.

What brings me down?
Imbalance
Warriors
why exactly does the warrior get so many weapons to choose from? that aside why do they get awesome fear, quick confusion stacking ability, more torment dmg then condi necros, condi immunity, damage immunity(which they can use at the same time), massive stability times, crazy cc’s, very quick bleed stacking and if all that is not enough they can roll their faces on the keyboard and be on the horizon without having a target to leap to. hahaha (i do have a warrior by the way)
Stealth
Is this the only mmo where you can stay in hide while taking a beating? Constant stealthing by thiefs and mesmers(i have mes and thief and i do troll with both because Anet have made the game to allow it)while they are taking dmg, either by rapid fire, wells, marks and general 1 spamming. Why is stealth so rubbish in this game??
Downed state
Crappy idea however i understand that downed state is needed because there are no healers in this game(mmo trinity) but if your going to make stealth, mist and midget(elixir s) stomping permitted then give each class the same abilities.

ALL the imbalance in this game is due to the lack of the mmo trinity, people need mobility, escape and immunity skills. Unfortunately Anet lack the skills to properly distribute these abilities accordingly.

Story line
This is just terrible, gw1 made you feel like you were part of the world and made you push towards the next part of the story.
In gw2 the story line is rubbish, no urgency felt, no epic battles like good ole Thunderhead keep in gw1.

All the little glitches and bugs, like trying to walk down a slope and hoping you don’t die at any moment. Cannons on keeps which show the target area and when fired hit the wall instead, getting stuck in floors and walls. Having to run wvw in kitten mode cause Anet dont know how to program using the GPU, TB being down.

If only GW1 had jumping
In anycase, iam still playing this game hoping that they fix all these issues, but knowing they will not. Will be jumping over to WildStar and then onto Star Citizen – Robert Industries. Hopefully these games are more polished.

Keep getting disconnected, what the hell is going on Anet, why do you fail at so many levels. Fix the kittening game before releasing more content.
This wasnt happening before, only happens when you guys mess with new builds.
Hire some skilled people.
So many people aretalking about Elder Scrolls online, now i know why. Just sick to death with your level of incompetence.

Ok this probably has already been brought up, frankly i dont care.
When trying to get off AC a message pops up saying " you cant drop bundles while in the air" or something along those lines.
How long does it take to fix this problem?
Trying to jump off AC to revive a team mate, or to repair gate, to push out and press the enemy back, and you get this kitten message. Cant way point as your in combat.

What part of this is fun?
Sick of seeing these posts relating to AC, then fix the issue.
Maybe it would take a new topic from EVERY person that has this issue, the first 4 pages would have the title “AC broken”

yep had the same problem about 20min ago, went to take ingame feature screenshot and it crashed the game.
still dont understand why areanet refuses to fix the issues that are currently in the game or test stuff before they dump it on our laps.

The cannon in Raid on the Capricorn map needs more tweaking please. Occasionally it gets stuck and will only fire to one side of the map.
If this cant be fixed, for whatever reason(lack of people, lack of skill, lack of time or lack of interest) then just remove it.

I don’t know if this has already been brought up but frankly iam not shifting through 763 pages of topics. I was thinking once someone doubled up on a topic the admins deleted it.

-Is it possible to see EVERY bit of combat info under the combat tab.

If not can we add it. I can be fighting away and i go from half health to nothing, which is fine, if i could only see what was doing all the damage. At the moment iam not seeing retaliation damage, confusion damage and not seeing reflect damage.
I would like to slowly become a better player, and it would be nice to see where iam going wrong, whats damaging me the most, how to change my play style. All this from showing EVERY little scrap of info from PvP battle combat tab.

Why is it that every time you guys change something, something else breaks? EVERY single time. I would rather have the lag and not be able to to see 50+ enemies until too late, then have slightly better ping and not see 3-4 enemies when not even in a zerg situation.
Please hire some people that know what their doing. Iam sure there are alot of unemployed techy people who know what their doing.

Yer i agree that once you have max gear at max level there isn’t a huge reward apart from server benefits.
However there is no way can they have a pvp ranking system.
How will they differentiate between someone killing via 1v1 or in small groups and someone slaughtering on siege?
Someone with absolutely no pvp skill that knows how to point a cannon at a cluster of people would be consistently be on the top of the rankings.
If you want to pvp solo or in small groups for titles, then Spvp is where you need to be.
Yes there is a massive gap in the amount of pvp in gw2 as opposed to gw1 but its the way Anet have made the game.

I normally cruise around with 60-80FPS and everynow and again when i travel to a waypoint my fps will drop to 5-10, very annoying. Its been happening more and more. Going through to a new area ie from EB to the EB jumping puzzle area, my fps just plummets. Usually if this happens i have to travel back and forwards between waypoints/zones and it fixes it self.
However lately ive had to quit the game and restart it, and this isn’t always a guarantee to fix it.
NEVER happened at the start , just the last month. After every update something gets ruined. If this keeps getting worse, i wont be able to play it.

Current rezz mechanics are detrimental to any kind of PvP

The downed state is a pain, but its there because there are no dedicated healers in the game.
Iam not talking about about an ele or guardian who can chuck up heals for the team here and there, iam talking about the good ol monks from gw1 style healers.
So yer you might have a useless player be rewarded by being rezzed from downed state.
However whats the difference between that and a useless player shouting for heals cause he/she doesn’t know how to kite?
Iam 99.9% certain there would be no downed state if gw2 had dedicated healers.
With the dead state ,while everyone has the ability to resurrect, surely they can’t place a timer on it., i guess they could make the screen go blurry and grey like it did in Aion or something along those lines. Making spying painful on the eyes.
As fustrating W3 can be at times, iam slowly coming to grips with the fact its a ‘zerg’ zone.
If you want pure solo, you have pve, if you want crisp pvp you have spvp. If want sieging, taking forts,defending forts etc you have zergville aka WvWvW.

Mesmer downed state suggestions

For Pve it might be op as you say, because when you kill a mob they stay down, but 95% of the time i use my mesmer in WvWvW. In PvP when downed you might be able to down another player, but then you need to finish them off. Not an easy task when W3 is all about moving in packs, someone will finish you off very quickly. Deception is my main concern in W3. My main goal is to get some distance from where i was downed and try to heal up and get up and not expose my location. After the changes, the distance is pathetic.
Even before they changes made, in w3 it wasn’t easy getting back up due to the zerg factor.
They need to make Deception teleport a reasonable distance from the finishing move.

why did they mess around with deception in the first place. Before they started to mess around with it, it worked really well. In the open you were teleported a decent distance. However AFTER the reworked it in the 14th Sep update, it completely ruined it. So many times it teleports me only 2 feet from your downed location. Making it utterly useless as the person using the finishing move will land the move.

I don’t know perhaps your just better at hoarding money then iam. If the occasion arises where my team needs me to setup a treb or balista, i just go grab it. Or i feel the need to increase supply to a tower/keep, then ill cough up the 10s at the supply depot to upgrade it, knowing that it could get taken over at any moment. I suspect its a bit less costly in the BL, but i only hit up EB and only use BL for the JP while waiting for EB. I think it would be a bit more hectic in EB.
Who knows.

ArenaNet have made it very clear that gw2 is all about having fun via doing what you want. For example if you purely want to pve and live in the dungeons you may do so, sPvP you say, never leave the mists and have fun, if you want to craft/gather go ahead, build your tent by the trade broker no problems. So if i want to live in WvWvW then i shouldn’t be penalized.
My ‘cry’ is about the cost of repairing gear… its only 1s and few bronz everytime you die you say. So unless your pressing number 2 on siege, your gonna die alot.
Whats that you say “stop dying then”, can;t be helped my friend its WvWvW, which equals zerg fest.
For all those who do live in W3 will understand what i mean by zerg fest. Yes i understand that to help our pcs not have a heart attack, they have implemented an extremely annoying program which prevents me seeing the horde of darkness until my face is rubbing against their chest hair. By at which point your selecting your waypoint for resurrection.
This is not my fault, i didn’t program it like it is. If a pc is going to struggle without this program, id like to see how a console is going to take it. Ive read that people with top notch systems are also having this issue.

To buy siege it cost min 6s i think and up to 1g max, no single reward in w3 gives 20-30s let alone 50s -1g. ive spent well OVER 1g just on upgrading towers, to see them get overtaken. Which by the way isn;t the problem. Taking towers and keeps every 5min is fine, that’s just w3 for you. Its the added cost of having to repair gear after every death.

Ive done a little bit of pve, gotten to level 80 having completed my lvl 1-35 areas. PvE in gw2 is mind boggling boring. Events get old, always fight centures or bandits, anyway thats for a different topic. However if i died in PvE then fine, ill cough up the cash to fix my gear. After all its my fault for pulling more mobs, not watching their patrol range etc etc.
In W3 you just get zerged. The costs of repairing gear, upgrading towers, upgrading supplies(which do go down every 2-3min) and buying blueprints is ridiculous. Drop the costs of the mentioned things.
We fight our guts out to either win for our server and feed all the goodies/benefits for the PvE’ers’ who don’t even know what w3 is. OR we come second and get nothing from it but leave with a gaping big hole in our pockets.

This is NOT FUN ArenaNet NOT fun at all.
