Not the same but you can make something similar to school uniform outfit and it will be armor and not outfit, but only for medium armor classes :
Scout (t1 human) coat;
Magitech leggings;
Magitech boots;

Other pieces can be hidden or pick whatever you like

VB, Night Meta event to extreme?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

I don’t understand where you guys getting this “need full map to complete this meta event”. There are 5 outpost with 4 camps each. Bare minimum for each camp is 2 players to defend it (3-4 is maximum or events will scale to elites). So with this numbers it’s 40 players for 1 map if you want to have a good try, 60 players (make it 80 for some randoms running around and killing champs for you) for almost guaranteed tier 4 day/night. Also map needs at least 2 players with mastery for Axemaster all other people on that boss can just hard CC the tag (person with mastery) to brake boss.

I’ve commanded on this map for at least 5 times and 2 times we didn’t have more then 2-3 people in each camp. You can mix in random players who were running around for HP and masteries and didn’t really participate in events but still it’s possible to do this meta event without caped map (if the cap is 150 players). The only thing needed is 3-4 players who will organize people in map and spread them across all camps.

Some Tips, maybe they will help to make it a bit easier:
1. Map can lose 1 camp for each outpost and still hit tier 4 night if it kills all 5 bosses.
2. If all camps were defended throughout all night (first 25mins) tier 4 is possible even if only 4 bosses are killed, so it is possible to leave Axemaster if no one has that mastery.
3. It is better for commanders to run around camps in their outpost and coordinate people what to do and to point where they are needed now.

Of course everything is based on the good will of other players, how they following commands, etc. But lfg is there and you can always get more people in. But you don’t need full map to finish this meta event.

I did that event without any problems. But I had problem with other event for this collection, one in Straits of Devastation with Scholar Nabbi (Nabbi just vanished in the middle of the event… may be turned into risen or something). Just try to change maps until you find one with working event. I know this is tedious but many events are like that and can get bugged for unknown reasons (at least unknown for players).

So you don’t have enough hero points to unlock all your skills and traits or you just ask why they are locked?
At first login after update you get unlocked skills that resemble your last build as close as it possible (as pop-up window in game say). And if you are lvl80 then you should have hero points to get everything that is still locked.
For me, I had 211 hero points left after unlocking all skills and traits cause of world completion on my character.

The fact that all the serious enemies tend to rely on slow, heavy attacks means Block/Dodge/etc. have way more value than Tou/Vit/Heal in most Dungeon/Fractal situations.

In an active combat system, active defense should have way more value than passive defense. Even so, said passive defensive gear/builds are more than powerful enough to trivialize a large amount of the games pve content.

Someone mentioned something along the lines of “zerkers should be punished when not taking supportive players”. The point is, they do. The support is gained through active defense, as it should be. Some still seem to be equating “support” with standing at the back of the party spamming heals or taunt/tank/buff, a line of thinking simply not at odds at all with this games combat system (instanced pve).

True. But the content content is not challenging enough. We don’t really need a guardian or mesmer in most of the current content. We need really need protection or weakness except maybe in fractal 50 melee. We need try to give vigor to the team, we never need to take sigil of energy except in solo, etc. More challenging content that push the limit of our active defence would be a blessing. The type of content that you can’t play zerker if you don’t master your active defence so that not everybody can run full zerker.

Agree with that (espacialy with last point) but as we see most content is balanced around lowest skill lvl or almost there. If Anet bring more chalanging content that can’t be bit by moderate or low level skill players we will get tons of rage posts here and in game so at the end content will be nerfed and we are back to " zerker or go home".

@Harper, i hope u read everything u see and don’t troll. Meta stretagy for PvE is “kill everything as fast as u can”. With example above warriors will take boon duration to make more use of their might spreading ( they don’t use condi weapons in PvE now), guardians will take boon duration, engis will take boon or condi duration, necros will take condi and so on with other classes. This is how u get three and we still have same stratagy to kill everything fast.

As u said ( and Thaddeus.4891 before you) this will be a big revamp for game but this is still best option i saw.

What Harper is trying to say, is that it will still not be different option. The meta will be PS Warrior with Power/Precision/Boon Duration. If you use another set of gear, you won’t be meta. There will have different option for different profession, but only one best option for each profession.

In the end it would be a big revamp that could create other problem and people will still cry about it.

The meta today is berserker or assassin gear (or mix) for all classes. In your system war/guards will have boon meta, engi/necro will have condi meta and so on. Ofc this IS meta as i said above u can’t run from it but at lest u have more options among profesions.

Edit: if we r talking about gear only cause zerker build is not only about gear but about traits and skills on your right side.

And another thing. Someone above (i’m to lazy to search) mentioned that shaman or any other gear must be viable (read meta) in at least 1 dungeon or part of the dungeon. But it is still meta and all u will c is messages in lfg “need shaman ranger for dungeon x” (pick any other profesion u like).

And for some time there is a PvE content where condi builds is much more usefull then power build – any fight where u face husks will be much more faster if you r using condi gear.

…. An engineer that give a lot of vulnerability would want a Power, Precision, Condition duration gear, while a Guardian could be best with a Power, Precision, Healing power and a PS Warrior would take a Power, Precision, Boon Duration gear. ….

This does not work. Because they would still be running the equivalent of “zerker” which means best dps – only instead of 3 stats you would only take two.

This solution is basically nerfing our damage and making everything take longer but doesn’t change anything else.

One combo will still be highest dps – the third stat won’t matter at all – and people will take that combo and make it the new " insert stat combo name here meta".

If make as in example then we will have at least more “meta gear set”. And don’t forget that u CAN’T escape from metas – they were and always will be a part of games. Other question is that now we have 2 meta gear sets for PvE and with such change will get at least 3 if we talk only about gear changes and nothing else.

I do not think there is a problem with stat combos in GW2, but at the moment there is a problem with there being no noticable benefits to being a more tanky/supportive role. Defensive stats are effective, but they are not required. However, I do not think they should become required, as that will just be stepping backwards back to the old trinity again.

The only solution I can see to this problem, is to make encounters more challenging, but not to the point where berserker players can no longer tackle them. Make content tough for all stats, but extremely tough for high damage stats. Not impossible, but certainly a lot harder. Make defensive roles more useful, but not essential. Make stuff like dungeon runs go much smoother with defensive roles, without making it impossible for dps roles. Slow dps players down by making them deal with content more carefully, but do not stop them from doing it.

At the end of the day stat combos should remain a choice, not become a requirement. If a full team wants to run full zerker builds, then they should be allowed to. But at the same time, they should be seriously challenged when doing content without any supportive players in the group. And that is where GW2 fails at the moment. The challenge balance is not quite right at the moment, and if that could be fixed I do not think there would be any issue.

All what u will achieve with this solution is another zerker meta that looks like [4 zerker builds + 1 support build] or 2 support builds (depends from skill lvl of players). And we will have 3 best gear stats instead of 2.

The second solution would be to make all gear take at least 1 non dps stats. Ideally, it would be stats like boon duration, condition duration, healing power. And maybe removing ferocity as a stats all together (and balancing stats after to make up for that lost). An engineer that give a lot of vulnerability would want a Power, Precision, Condition duration gear, while a Guardian could be best with a Power, Precision, Healing power and a PS Warrior would take a Power, Precision, Boon Duration gear. It’s a big change and I’m sure that A LOT OF PEOPLE could find holes in it. I’m not even sure I really like this idea. But it’s the only one I see where active defense is still the main source of defense, but we have gear diversity.

This is best of what i’ve seen on forums and it still have problems in it self.

- Mesmers have some time magic therefore they expand upon it with the Chronomancer.
- Rangers have some nature magic therefore they expand upon it with the Druid.
- Elementalists have some weather based magic therefore they expand upon it with the Tempest.

It’s a bit awkward to say that Guardians protect by killing monsters which can be considered hunting therefore they expand upon it by becoming Dragonhunters, also Dragons are things they can hunt. It just doesn’t have the clarity of the other specializations.

This quote is from other thread.

For me the only good reason why Guardian’s name don’t follow this pattern is lore (about Braham taking Eir’s bow and hunting dragons to revenge). And it’s good enough reason and if other proffesions will get something like that in future then i support the new Dragonhunter but it’s still out of the line with other names (“Hold The LIne”). Need to see what Anet have to say in Ready-up today.

But if it’s not why not call it Arclight (as Archer with light powers that he use while shooting and to lay traps [name of hero from other game]) or name can reflect inner power of guardians: Judgment or Retribution (both of wich will fully support the lore part about Braham and will be more suitable for guardians and still don’t go against traps).

So it’s safe to say that bloodstone shard and all other stuff will cost something else (maybe gold).

Took some time to read whole thread and i see that OP and many who replied dont really understand what is living world (or maybe don’t remember what it meant to be from the beginning).

Living world is world that is changing around u while u r in the area/map/city/etc. In Queensdale centaurs took prisoners in village, seraph captain rally troops to fight them back and take centaur’s outpost to get intell of where prisoners are. Then he/she take seraphs to the main centuar camp and fight big bad guy and free villagers – seraph win and everyone r happy. But some time later new big bad guy appear and takes back main camp then outpost (if seraph didn’t manage to deffend any of this locations) and then again lead attack on the village to get prisoners. This is Living world.

Living Story is just a main story line that is there for people who like stories and is willing to folow them. Story evolve in time and some time has influence on the existing world (as Kassex hills, LA, all that toxic events in low lvl areas, etc). Living story is part of Living world and not vice versa.

So your claims about dead “old world”, OP, are at least faulty. People who bought original game get Living world + story if they pay 1600 gems to get all 8 chapters of season 2. If they want new content and story that takes place in Jungle they need to pay < insert price here when we know it > to get it. And as we know some features will be in “old world”.

Anet developers and just all employees who made at least 1 post on forum or official blog always say “everything i said (will say from now on) is subject to change” and it must be in head of all people who read dev posts at all times.

And yes, I’m to lazy to find and bring here any link to forum posts or blogs that will say what they meant about Living world. But if i really need i will

Some1 asked about comparison of prices for precursor vs 3 sets of ascended armor.

3 sets of berserker armor (1 of each weight) if u buy basic mats and craft each part that can be crafted will cost u:
~1473g + 360 skill points + ascended mats and karma (I’m to lazy to count them );

most epansive precursors for now stand somewhere in this range 974g – 1360g.

And they r not most expansive exotic weapons:
Infinite light = 1400g; Mjölnir = 2000g;

And yes, killing it in melee is much faster but you will need at least 1 guardian with WoR and shield of the avenger and 5 points in Virtues line. And ofc without meta dps build you will just die in melee cause of CD on reflect if u dont have ele/mesmer/other guardian.

Getting something feels better than nothing. It is impossible to perfectly balance out the curve so long as there is a random factor, but you can at least make sure that those on the poor end of the curve don’t feel it as much.

Yes, it is impossible. But tokens will open road for farm and u will get tons of threads from ppl who can’t play as much as farmers do or that they dont like to do X to get tokens. The more u give info to people about progress the more complains u will get at the end. It’s better to make invisible progress ofc if u can make it working.

RNG as a concept: Discuss

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: WGuardian.1028

WGuardian.1028

1. First i want to say that token system won’t solve RNG-problem as i see it.
Main flaw of pure random reward are people on both sides of the bell curve (as was said above). With tokens u will give all participants an option to get item they want but system with random reward is still there. In the extreme variant we will get this:

  • people from left side of curve get 1 <item>;
  • people from centre of curve get 1-2 <item>;
  • people from right side of curve get 2 <item>;

Nothing changed from what we have now, except that people from left side can get at least 1 <item>, but they still feel really unlucky when they look on drops of other ppl.
That said, i think option 2.5 is not good if implemented in line with random – it won’t fix anything.

2. Option 2 is what i think will be good decision. As i see it “…Y tickets for random drops…” means that next try will have better chances to give better reward and have nothing to do with tokens. We just need 1 variable for each account/character that will affect the quality of drop. And then each rarity family have its weight that has affect on this variable. As example:

*white item: +W;
*blue item: +B;
*green item: +G;
*yellow item: +Y;
*orange item: +E;
*pink item: +A;

W,B,G are always positive numbers that meet sequence W<B<G;
Y,E,A are always negative numbers that meet sequance A<E<Y;

Possible flaws:
1. Most tonics have yellow or orange rarity and will decrease chances of getting better rewards.
2. Orange and some yellow items have big price spread. As it is now most rare items are most expensive and it should be like that. This system won’t change rates of getting expensive item if we are looking at situation when player already rolled a dice for orange item but still need to roll for specific name.

Possible solutions:
1. Implement this system with 2 or more veriables and each of them will affect own family of items: weapon,armor,tonic, etc.

2. It may be a problem from the player point of view but in the long run we can’t predict which item will be expensive after next update (even devs can’t cause goals always shift). Perhaps precursors can be moved to unique family (they are in unique category already with that line in tool-tip of item).

At the end we will have system in which with every fail u get closer to bigger reward (at least i see it like that ).

What we had before:
To ‘banner’ the Lord u need warrior/guardian/necro (to be honest don’t know about such skills on other classes). Guardian need to place a signet on Lord and necro the mark, both can’t be immune to dmg when using skill so it was reall luck if u manage to res Lord with 1 of them. Warrior can be imune to dmg/conditions/hard and soft CC. 1 war go in placing banner, blob killing Lord in 2s, next warrior goes in and so on and so on… Some time after ally’s blob arrive and we have big epic fight.

What will we have now:
Imune warrior goes in circle and contest it for ~10 ses and then dies. Next warrior goes in and contest structure for next ~10 sec and so on and so on… Ally’s blob arrive and we have epic fight.

I can’t c how it will be different of what we have now.
If u didn’t have numbers to protect keep u will not have this numbers now as well.
If u had crap scouts that can’t report about blobs u will still have them now.
If u used banners just to troll enemy…well, no happy trolling for u from now.

Power res in fight is stsill an option – TW on Lord and res with double speed.

Edit: Just to make it clear we r talking here about fight IN THE LORDD ROOM. u failed to defend outer wall, u failed to defend inner wall but u want to endlessly res Lord…I never ever saw more then 1 banner in towers but even then u failed to defend gate or cata\treb spots.

And again, what I care about over everything else is how much money I will receive in the end once I sell the item. That’s the bottom line, while everything else can be optional information – not the other way around.

Agree with this.

Then just remove the total price (which is only important to buyers) and replace it with total profit, which is what is most important to every seller (and seller is that very person who’s using the sell panel, not the buyer).

So u wnat to enter not the “price per unit” in sell tab but “profit per unit”. Agree with this as well. It can be better than it’s now but we have that “Current buyers” and “Current sellers” windows which will need revision. After that anet needs to decide if they go with 2 different “Current buyers” and “Current sellers” windows (4 in total) for buyer tab and seller tab. If they do then it’s aditional time to develope and test new
entity. If they decide to change existing windows then they need to make changes to buyer tab cause that person want to c what money he needs to pay and not the profit seller will get.
Maybe we will c changes before release but more likely this will hapenn some time after if it ever will.

1. If you sell an item for 1g, 5s will be subtracted from your wallet the moment you list, 90s will be put into pick up tab the moment it sells.

So numbers will differ and this will make some troubles for ppl who r not used to TP (but in TP v1.0 it’s not better; I had issues with seeing different numbers in pick-up tab and in sell tab) or who dont use it frequently. Your suggestion to give 3 numbers will lead to same issues as we have now.

It doesn’t really matter how TP fees work. What matters is that the profit from the operation is +85s, which is the ultimate information a player needs, even if it works kitten + 90s = 85s.

It does matter in most cases. I can agree that it doesnt if u make 1 transaction so u dont need that 5s (if we talk about small amount of gold involved) for next operation. As i said before it makes troubles from nowhere for ppl who or not using TP frequently. If u r TP player or just someone who use it more then once or twice a day then u won’t have any problems with different numbers.

That’s why gw2spidy does it that way. As for supplemental info, the best option is hovering tooltips which say “Listing fee is subtracted immediately from your current funds when listing items. It is unrefundable even if you remove the item from listing.” and “Exchange fee is taken upon successful transaction. Exchange fee will not be taken if you remove the item from listing.”, respectively.

gw2spidy is 3d party site and used by ppl who involved in TP games on some lvl (im not talking about flipers or something). And tooltips won’t help here cause ordinary player won’t even hover over that line. Best solution will be forced tutorial as 1 of steps in PS or something like that.

If I have 9g 15s and need 85s more in my wallet to get 10g, I list an item for 1g and see I’ll get 85s once everything’s done. I don’t care that my funds are now 9g 10s, I don’t care that I pick up 90s, all I care that in the end I get 10g.

U will care if it’s not 5s fee but 100g, will u?

Part of my job is development of interfaces for different applications and i can tell u that interface of new TP is close to the limit of numbers of buttons/tabs/pop-up windows/links between windows which is user freindly. Of course it’s only first impression from what i saw in blog post. If u add more elements u will just confuse ppl even more. If interface is used for not just pick out “ok” or “cancel” then some part of functionality should be done on user side. As for now i dont like the implementation of this particular feature but i like overall changes that they made to TP.

Edit: all what i said is coming from player who is not using TP on regular basis but i’m using it from time to time.

Here you go.

For me, the extra space there looks exactly like something to put “projected profit” into.

(Also, while making these images, I once again saw that having leading zeros would’ve been really good for improving clarity).

Pretty good placement of the “projected profit” but answer some questions pls:

1. When this transaction is made what number u will c in your pick-up box?

2. Goes from 1 – your 3d picture have “minus” and “equal” signs but are TP’s fees work like this?

I think devs already answerd this and some more questions when they had discussions about TP v2.0 and it’s more complicated to make it more userfreindly then players think.

If u just update your 3d picture with even more signs it won’t be any better cause players will just “get lost” in the interface.

And to get t5 mats u need to farm them or use MF to promote t4. System (t4->t5->ecto) is in balance even if some ppl dont like it (on average u dont get profit from this). If u can get ectos from low lvl rare gear then it means that system changed and it will be ((t4->t5) or t4) -> ecto. System like this cant be balanced without modification to drop rates or some other changes cause it will be always in movement and price will go up and down for all 3 participants (but there is much more around them cause we r talking about crafting mats). And changes like that will make big impact on economy.

P.S.: Sorry for bad english. And sorry for using binary logic

P.S.S: edited for some clarifacation.

Dungeon grouping - the real solution.

Dungeons used to give tokens at every boss, they changed it so people wouldn’t just run the first boss over and over.

They could make it so the later bosses give you more tokens than the earlier ones, of course that won’t stop people running the first boss over and over but it would make it less profitable. [..]

This problem is already fixed. Now u can get chest rewards only once per day per account.
Example: AC p1 have 3 chests and last reward. If u got in and run untill 2 chest and then u leave or got kicked u still have 2/3 of minor rewards and no major reward. On the next try u cant get first 2 chests cause u already have this rewards and u will get last 3d chest and major reward at the end.
I agree that it wont fix kick problem. But if last reward is splited among minor chests at least u will get something if u got kicked.

I wonder if all the grabbed WPs will be destroyed

That would spell the end of Dry Top for me, since there is only one ungrabbed WP in that map, IIRC (the one by the vine bridge).

That WP is grabbed as well (checked yesterday).

People who has Eternity will still have Eternity and skin of this legendary to use on any appropriate weapon. And they will get SKINS of Twilight and Sunrise, not legendary weapons. For those with 2+ legendaries of the same type: u will still have 2+ legendary WEAPONS and skin to use on appropriate weapon.
I understand that most people made their 2d legendary of same type just to get skin but i dont know what to say to them anyway u have 2 weapons on wich u can choose stats u like
