Good luck.
Thank you for the clarification! I wasn’t sure. Thank you for the support too
Had a couple of people jump in on a mini stream earlier having a chat and explaining some stuff to me. The community here is what’s making me enjoy the game so much more! You’re all fantastic.
Right thank you. Erm, not sure if a mod could just move it across? I wasn’t sure as the helping players forums looked just like a place for questions.
Sorry if this is not the place to post this. I couldn’t see anywhere fitting. Still a newbie here :<
Hey there!
With the influx of new players to the game due to the sale I’d like to invite new and old players to my stream to chill, learn about the game and generally just hang out and have fun. I talk to myself a lot when playing video games as being relatively new to the game myself I thought why not stream it. Maybe some cool folks will come and chill and help me out a little bit or if nobody comes well, I was talking to myself anyway.
Who am I?
So I’m Jani (sort for Janneke for any Dutch folk out there) from the UK. I love playing RPGs or anything with a good story. I’m always up for some chit chat as the internet can be a lonely place sometimes, especially if you’re new to a game! I love helping out newbies whenever I can, even if I’m new myself. Nothing is more enjoyable to me than learning a game with other people in the same boat you are! You can catch the stream here, and my stream times are on the page:

I am currently streaming at the time of posting this however as it’s a Saturday and I have a 2 hour driving lesson at 10.30 GMT if You see this after that time I won’t be back on till between 1-2pm GMT. Sorry!
How good are you at Gw2?
I’m not! It wouldn’t be any fun if I didn’t occasionally get myself killed now and again to the forces of gravity. I got a thief to level 80 over a year ago. At the time I was too much of a WoW hardcore raider to give the game the time and attention it deserved, which also meant I didn’t put much effort into actually learning the game. I’ve now come back, started fresh, and putting a real effort to learn more about the game from all sides. Really enjoying myself so far, and really welcome any veterans to help this newbie out, or other newbies who might enjoy seeing somebody just as bad, if not worse than them!
What do you do in Gw2?
Right now I’m just levelling while doing some map completion stuff. I’m not normally a completionism kind of person, but this game just makes me want to do it. I guess I just like colouring in stuff? I’m also chugging along with my story quest which is fun and I hit the 30’s on my stream last night so I’ve now unlocked a dungeon! Not done it yet though! I have not delved into any PvP yet; I will probably do that at level 80 along with any raids and stuff. Looking forward to finding some people to do all that kind of stuff with when I get there.
Do you play any other games?
I do, I have a mini list on my stream page. Right now I’m focusing on GW2 as I’m enjoying it so much. I might occasionally stream some Overwatch games or something (I’m even worse at that than Gw2!) but I’m enjoying myself a lot here with Gw2 and its awesome community.
Why no cam? I only watch people with cam!
I do have a cam but the main reason I’m not using it right now is because I wear glasses and they reflect my monitors which just leaves people looking at to white rectangles the whole time. Really doesn’t feel like much point to it. Secondly here in the UK it’s really hot and stuffy and uncomfortable. No fun using a cam in this kind of weather! If you only enjoy people watching with cams (understandable) then that’s fine. I won’t hold it against you.
Thanks for the answer! That’s what I needed to know.
I have been playing and leveling (though not 80 yet) and looking at skills in game but I wasn’t quite understanding what people meant as they weren’t using any of the abilities on their bars to summon anything. They just had 3 summoned from the start.
Because it’s complex is why I want to play it. I’m new to gw2, but I’m not new to this style of game. It’s simpler than some other things I’ve had to play in other games. Now I know how they are getting these 3 phantasms before even starting combat everything else makes much more sense.
Thank you for your help.
Ok so I’m new to the game. Been looking at chronomancer game play and liking what I see. Leaning towards sword/shield + sword/sword builds but all guides say the same thing at the start, but nobody elaborates so a new player actually knows what on earth you mean!
“Summon 3 phantasms.”
How?!
This may be a silly question. I did google but I only got directed to pages to buy the game.
I bought the Deluxe Edition of Hot form the GW2 site. I revived an in game mail telling me I had, but none of the items like the mini pet. I had assumed you’d get them along with the mail you receive.

Hey there!
So I just got the urge to play, specifically craft. I really enjoyed the GW2 crafting system. Now I left pre-expansion with a max level thief. I sort of hit max level, didn’t really have much to do. I was trying to 100% all the world stuff for that legendary weapon or something?
Was thinking of returning and going back to that, but outside of self accomplishment, is there any reason to 100% everything out in the world?
Also, after being a hardcore WoW player I’m actually enjoying playing solo in games a lot more. having some “me” time I guess. When I first played this I was still hardcore raiding in WoW so I was just looking at the game form that PoV. I’m now wanting to look at it as a casual, no commitments, happy to adventure on my own PoV. Anything I should look to be doing for this kind of play style?
Finally, in pretty much any MMO I’ve played over the years, I’ve always enjoyed the crafting/gold making side of games. A game with a good crafting system alone can keep me engaged for awhile, and if I can then go onto sell what I make I just enjoy the game so much more. Is this much of a thing in GW2? I didn’t get to play around much with any high level crafting when I last played which I regret.
I don’t have heart of thorns yet but considering getting it as my thief is max level already. Kind of playing with the idea of starting over but I kinda like my thief.
Thanks for the response but would like to look at more guilds before I decide. I pick a guild to stay in, not use as a stepping stone.
I’m a new Guild Wars 2 player however I’ve been enjoying my time playing. I come from a heavy PvE WoW background and am looking to also go through all the PvE content GW2 has to offer.
As I mentioned, I am new to the game and still leveling, but I’m interested in a guild who does all the PvE content the game has to offer regularly and also up for helping a new but dedicated player.
See you in game!
