First Image is what I use now, no back piece is shown.
The second image is keeping with an all black theme, can change pants/gloves as needed (full strider looks solid if you are limited skin wise).
Another option is changing out the strider chest piece for one of the many trench coats in the game, there are a few that are actually very nice, even though I don’t like the look as much myself.
Hope this helps a bit.
Can confirm that GW2 runs on the iMac 5k. 5k resolution produces graphical bugs which is probably a scaling issue, anything below 5k runs fine. I recommend using 1440p and cranking all the settings up as this provides the BEST performance imo and looks good. There is a very faint blurriness when using 1440p but I attribute this to the game again not scaling correctly with the 5k’s 4:1 pixel ratio.
@Dondagora
That is a valid argument in regards to the shatter. However, I still feel that clones should still be limited. For example, a Necro’s death shroud has an internal cooldown between uses but it also requires life force to access. This is not a limitless resource. The same logic applies to adrenaline for warriors.
Life force gives a 2nd health bar and 5 new skills. Please do not even compare the two. clones do nothing but fuel shatters, do enough damage to offset regen boons, and “confuse” players who do not understand how the class works. When clones are strong enough/useful enough to warrant a high cd I am sure anet will reevaluate how ofent we can produce them, as it stands now they do too little to be on any type of long cd/icd.

Or the alternative, you can actually read my entire question. Edit your answers properly to refute, or properly discuss your answers in regards to my questions rather than derail.
Sigh again you stated outright that invis was spammable and asked to discuss why its ok. You then tried to make a note at the end claiming ignorance of the mechanic when 50% of your original question was asking us to tell you why we think “spammable invis” is ok.
All that aside, you now know that it isn’t and half of your question has been answered. To the other half, yes it is ok that clones are on a SHORT CD. Does anything else confuse you?

In order for clones to actually do noticeable damage you have to stand in between all 3 and the mesmer and let them auto attack you down.
Even if you stand in a pile of Clones, you won’t take much damage. My Auto Attack does about 1500 a hit, my clones do 15 damage. They literally do 100x less than a single auto attack.
Phantasms, yes, but they have significant cooldowns and crumble to any AoE. Hit one once or twice and the Mesmer DPS will drop off the map. It’s also impossible to confuse them with the Mesmer due to them being pink and transparent.
They need to separate pvp and pve balance before they even touch Clones. In PvE Phantasms are 100% required for DPS and you need all three out to match the DPS of most other classes (aoe fights are sad times) while clones are just ‘filler’ for when you get another Phantasm. Making it any harder to get them out would make the class even worse at pve, something it does not need.
True but i am talking about PU condition builds traited for bleeds and staff clones which apply burning, as that is what actually does damage and seems to be what the op is upset about.
“Anyone care to discuss/debate why Mesmers should be able to just spam illusions (with no internal cooldown) and invisibility in PvP?”
This is where most of the confusion is coming from, you may want to edit your post to better reflect the topic you would like to discuss.
You’re welcome.

This is an old thread of mine with my sylvari and her phantasm like style. I have made a few changed since then but its fairly accurate.
Sylvari because with skin tones cultural armor and glow effects you can look almost identical to a phantasm.
In order for clones to actually do noticeable damage you have to stand in between all 3 and the mesmer and let them auto attack you down. If you let that happen then it is simply an issue of not understanding that you can walk back 600 yards and we cant do much. Clones are slow moving and their auto attacks are even slower. With the exception of someone who afks and gets autoed down, they are in no way a threat without shatter. You may be confusing clones with phantasms, but that is a whole different debate.
Also you cannot have more then 3 illusions active at any given time. So even if they had no cooldown (which they do), it does the mesmer no good to continously spam their clones when they already have 3 out.
As fay has already pointed out invis is NOT spammable, and clones are a resource that mesmers utilize for skills. Clones have very little damage even when traited for bleeds and on death effects. Their only actually a threat if the mesmer is playing a shatter setup and even then landing a shatter is incredibly difficult and has what may be the most obvious tell in the game (clones running at you). Fay brought up many good points and asked you what it is you specifically found imbalanced, so that we can better assist you. Until you state more clearly what it is you have an issue with it will be hard to have any type of debate.
@Alex Thanks man. It makes playing my mesmer incredibly entertaining. =p
@storiessave Ty man. Yeah, theres a thread by another player who did a great job also. I tweaked his setup a bit and used a female instead of a male.
@WhiteRose You cannot have the word “Illusionary” or “Illusion” in your name =p it is not allowed and won’t let you use it at all. And as far as “phantasmal” the only names that I noticed were taken were the “phantasmal x” where x is one of the mesmer phantasms and and a few others like “Phantasmal Warder” or “Phantasmal Ghost” i searched for about 45 mins and found tons open.
I have a 2 sets that I use for WvW and both are viable. The first is my full Rabid set with staff/Scepter+Torch, and the second is Full zerkers with GS/Sword+Pistol. Full zerkers with a phantasm build does excellent burst and can force the enemy back in zergs but it is much less survivable then my PU setup. I tend to run PU more even though dropping izerker down is one of the most rewarding feelings in the game imo. With a PU setup you will win most duels once you figure out how the build works, you also have the ability to easily move through an enemy zerg if needed and burst with scepter 4 or get to a buddy who needs a res. I highly recommend playing PU first while you get comfortable with dueling other players and learning their skills and rotations. After you get comfortable you can move on to a shatter or phantasm build if you feel as though that may interest you.
Damage wise Zerkers just provides a ton of on demand burst and is great for roaming or zergs but you need to use your defensive cds at the correct times and remember to maintain range in zergs. You are excellent at sieging and will get tons of bags with izerker. Imo Zerkers “feels” more rewarding as you get to see glass enemies go 100-0 after izerker and GS 2 (maybe an auto). Playing in zerkers will also help to teach you how to respect the damage of your enemies and how to evade and keep range well.
PU still does a ton of damage after you ramp up and allows you the freedom to play more aggressively and go for the rez on allies fairly easily. In zergs you won’t be getting tons of bags but staff 5 is strong when you are defending, just drop it down on the enemy zerg while they are sieging your gates and watch them scatter. I tend to mainly just scout and peel for allies when I’m zerging as its a much more mobile build and lacks the power to siege gates down, but don’t be afraid to scepter 4 > staff 5 in zergs and spread your scepter 3 confusion when its up, you still deal a ton of damage with those skills and staff auto tbh. If you do go with a PU build I highly recommend Natsu’s BlackWater Mesmer Build, it’s imo the most efficient PU build for most things.
try both in spvp and see which you like better before buying exotic gear if you don’t have much gold. full rabid armor (minus trinkets and weeps) is only like 6 gold though and the weapons and trinkets are not super expensive either, you can prob afford to just buy the set outright and test it yourself. I went with the Khilbron’s set as it was marginally cheaper on the trading post then the named rabid exotic gear. Don’t spend your laurels not he ascended amulet until you are sure you want to play PU or a Power build though, they take awhile to save up. I officially have begun buying my Rabid ascended trinkets now and am committing to playing a condition mesmer, of course with exotic zerker gear on standby as needed.
Hope this helps and gl.

@Dennis o sure! Just use Rose ice on everything and toss in Celestial highlights on the boots and gloves (if you choose not to hide them), you may want to consider celestial dye on the pants as a highlight also, but I like the Rose Ice more.
@ Dennis Sure thing, I used the orchard chest, pants, and boots and hid the helm and shoulders. The gloves are transmuted to profane.
The dyes used are Rose Ice And Celestial. Everything has it’s main color attribute set to Rose Ice and the gloves and boots use Celestial for the highlights. The hair is white and the skin is a lighter pink with the darker pink glow at night.
@Dondagora I really like this Idea and will definitely be doing that =p
@Wyrden imo it would certainly be worth it to reroll a sylvari mesmer, they are just so cool looking =p
@Lydon Thanks man =D
@Deathreign Thanks for the info that helps, and yeah ill def be picking them up as soon as I can. They look so great with the phantasm setup and definitely complete it.
@Deathreign Thanks a lot man! Do you happen to know the name of the weapon? I’ll prob go pic one up =D
edit: I actually found it never mind =D time to start saving lol
Got a night shot also but her color is off =/

I was inspired by some pics i found of a player who created a mesmer that looked like a phantasm, so i decided to see if i could get close. What do you guys think?
The image shows myself, one phantasm (warlock), and one clone. Any advise getting even closer to making my mesmer look more phantasm-like would be appreciated. =D
Sylvari > Norn + Human. You’re Welcome. =D
