If you need to feel needed so badly, virtually every other MMO on the market uses the tired and archaic trinity system.
I DONT LIKE IT SO ITS TIRED AND ARCHAIC. You realize that RPG’s (guild wars 2 included!!!) have been using many of the same mechanics since the 70’s, right?
This is actually the main problem I had on FF14. They have dynamic event ‘bosses’ as well (although their dynamic events are a bit of a joke compared to GW2’s).
At the start of the game, it was okay because people are everywhere and you’ll always find a tank and a healer. But after a while, you get a lot of events where there’s just no tanks or no healers around, meaning that if the event has a boss, it’ll just be impossible.
Um what? you can cross-class skills if you don’t have a job equipped. There’s no reason that a DPS should ONLY be DPSing or a healer should only be healing. Even with a job equipped, my white mage is doing DPS probably 50% of the time.
I feel like most of the people complaining about the trinity are just bads. I’ve never played a game where healers didn’t have dps/support skills and dps didn’t have support/heals. If you’re a healer and you’re literally just spamming heals when people are at 90-100% hp already you’re just bad. And how are the events a joke? They’re literally the exact same thing as GW2 events, and a couple are far more interesting than any in this game (odin, behemoth). Not to mention the fact that a single FFXIV dungeon is better designed than the entirety of GW2
If for the sub fee I’d get 1) quality over quantity monthly/bimonthly updates, 2) no cash shop ridiculousness , 3) more permanent over temporary content, I’d gladly pay even 15-25 Euros a month.
Subs are usually a good sign in the MMO market.
Oh, except for the fact that more or less every sub-based MMO still have a cash shop.
If by “every sub-based MMO” you mean only World of Warcraft.
If a sub fee would mean this game would stop revolving around driving people to the gem store and actually add interesting, permanent content and new classes then it would be fantastic. A large subscriber base in the hands of a good dev team could turn this game from mediocre into probably the best MMO on the market. As it stands everything in the game is designed around the gem store. Insanely grindy, gold-driven end-game; fluffy temporary content that serves no purpose other than to have a constant cycle of new items in the gem store and give people a feeling that they need to rush to the store to buy them items because nothing lasts. You’re never going to see new classes or an expansion pack or interesting, engaging content because none of those things facilitate gem store income for the devs. It’s 100x less work to just create fluffy, temporary content as an excuse to add things to the gem store. Why do you think they acted like the sky was falling when people accidentally figured out how to turn karma into gold? Anyone that really believes that the decision to make this game strictly horizontal and vanity-based was done out of some sort of artistry is crazy. You can’t put vertical content in the gem store, nor can you sell it for gold because people will cry P2W. You can’t have it drop in any sort of interesting end-game content because that does nothing to further gem-store profits.
All you guys that geniuely love this game that say you would quit if there was a sub fee are nuts. With a sub fee the devs get paid and spend the entire month figuring out how to make the game more fun and more engaging. With a cash-shop the devs spend the entire month figuring out how to get you to buy things in the cash-shop.
As it stands this game is no better than asian f2ps…they just figured out a way to spin it in a more appealing way.

Its a lot more active then say all the mmorpg game that have come out in 2012 to 2013 if that that your asking.
It’s not even close in terms of active players to FF XIV
The combat is more involving in this game than most other mmo’s.
What? The combat in this game is literally the most shallow out of every mainstream MMO ever made
Okay cool thanks
If I apply the Dragon Wings on to a back piece, can i transmute them on to a new one if i upgrade?
I think you’re missing the whole point of GW2. This game isn’t about end-game content or gear treadmills. It’s about people playing the game for I don’t know…. fun? Where gear does not determine the outcome of a fight between two parties, but skill?
I know a game that caters to the “hardcore”, and that’s the reason why I left that stupid game years ago and have never looked back.
Because end-game content isn’t fun and gear disparities are the only deciding factors of a battle in other MMOs.
i love all the wow generation gamers who say “DO NOT CLICKY IT MEANZ YA NOT PROZ!!!111”
dont you know that we have been using keyboard to walk and use the mouse to click hot keys since before you was eating solid foods?
An entire generation of daoc and UO players mastered pvp just fine without your non pro looking circle straifing and mashing 123123 with your left hands.
besides all that circle straife to keep your target in front of you just looks absolutly STUPID for entertainment purposes wit the cam spinning .
The same generation of gamers were playing their keyboard like an instrument in Starcraft :/ your argument makes no sense
If you can type a forum post with a keyboard as opposed to clicking each letter on a char map, you can hotkey your skills.
