By the way, I am not trying to justify the removal of the achievements, I couldn’t care less about 500 EoL and some more silver, I just hate the way the people in this thread have reacted to a small error which for most people will actually result in more AP, and more rewards.

If you were at 3/4 and now you are at 1/4 then great! You have got 20 free achievement points. Demanding the developers fix what is essentially an insignificant loss of progress for some people is childish and immature. If you enough progress in the first 3 days to actually care about then you have still got the achievement points to show for your efforts, and now you get to do the new easy dailies and earn more.

And yes jamesrobert, I did get the Essence of Luck

No. I got some “achievements”. I didnt get the laurels.
Others get 20 laurels.
How is that fair, at all? Why should I be punished when others get free things that takes a month to get?

Maybe take the time to read the whole thread before running your mouth off?

If the threshold for September was reduced to 2, people will not have lost time involved, people who got theirs done are not impacted. It can be flicked to 4 again for October.

Seems to me that would be a pretty easy thing to do, and addresses most of the mature complaints that I’ve read. (That is to say, I’m discounting a lot of the "WAH – Someone else got EXTRA this month. Really the only thing I consider a real problem is the time spent towards completion of the monthly meta.)

That is a brilliant suggestion, I hope arenanet is listening.

I vote for this. It seems to be the most fair option. I don’t really care about the rewards, so much as my time being wasted.

big entitled voice Oh but I finished my monthly before they added that Essence of Luck to the monthly rewards and because it only needs 2 now and I have done those already I can’t do it! That’s so UNFAIR. I am never buying gems again.. (ha, that’ll show ’em)

Edit: and before you say, it can be done in a few days. No, the only reason we could finish it that fast was because of the invasions.

So they took away Crafting, Champ and Group Event from the Monthlies, what did they replace them with:

Veteran – so easy its not funny
Salvages – again, incredibly easy
Fractals – more specialized but still not hard, 2 and a 1/2 runs over 27 days

Over the remaining 27 days I am sure you can get them done (even without the fractal one, events and completionist will make it 4). In terms of karma, that was nerfed in the patch, I got a whole 6k extra (OMG so unfair)! And the silver/coins amount to like 70 silver (again ermmagod).

And to the person complaining about 8 achievement points, I mean come on, there are kids starving to death in Africa everyday, time to get some perspective, I am sure not having them is not going to kill you. Even if you did not do any of the achievements before they removed them, that is 30 points, less than 10% towards any chest.

First world problems…

Please explain for the simple minds like me: you got double karma, double AP and double silver, but not double laurels?

If I must..

I got 0 laurels

I got ONE flask of karma = 6k karma

I got 50 Silver

I got 20 Coins

And if you didn’t do any of the other achievements at all (unlikely) then sure, I got double achievement points.

So yes, not double laurels, not double karma but still totally worth wasting developer time whining about for dat 70 silver… oh wait.

Since it got buried by all the whining and entitlement rants in this thread I’ll quote and confirm the following.

There are no 10 extra laurels – completed old montlies got 10, completed new monthlies got 0 laurels.

once more for those who seem to be challenged at reading and like to whine alot:

You do NOT get 10 laurels from the new monthlies if you have completed the old ones, it simply allows those who completed the monthly before the Essence of Luck addition to get their rewards.

Guess what guys, that makes it FAIR (since so many people seem to care)

Short Answer: Yes you can have 2 of the same upgrade running at the same time.

Long Answer for those that don’t understand: The OP is talking about the Guild Bounty Training. This is a single boss bounty that is available from tier 3 Art of War, and does not require the Guild Bounty Unlock. Yes the unlock can only be done once, and is permanent, but its not what the OP is asking about.

Yeah, but there’s only so many dailies to choose from, and when Crab Toss is taking up one of the slots every day, it makes your daily harder because there’s fewer (non-BS) options to choose from.

Not true. If people took the time to count instead of immediately coming and crying on the forums they would notice that there is in fact 11 dailies to choose from now, one more than the 10 before the patch. If you ignore the crab toss achieve you have the same amount of dailies to do as usual, if not you have more options. Nothing really to complain about here.

Why I am so glad you enjoyed reaping the rewards of our small stealth mission. Glad to see all our influence and cash that went into siege payed off.

By the way, I also feel very sorry for you because:

1) your stupid name
2) your inability to count (there were 5 of us)
3) the state your life must be in that you feel the need to post and brag about wiping 5 people who had just spent the effort to clear a keep, with a 20 man zerg.

I have mixed feelings about this, but obviously unlike most people here, I can sort of see arena nets end goal in all this.

They are introducing a new tier, yes. It is slightly stronger, yes. Much stronger, no. What they are trying to do is create a reward system for additional content. However unlike the “other games” they are not adding a whole tier which is 1.2x better then the last, they are adding 5% of a tier that is 1.1x better. It allows them slowly introduce each segment of this gear as a reward for various new content sections.

I have been trying to think of it as this: a long-term goal to upgrade the character, coming in piecemeal sections every so often. Once it is all finished it provides a goal for new players which promotes visiting all the content after they have exotics, however nowhere near good enough to be considered compulsory.

Try it before you slam it is all I am saying really.

I am really glad A-Net is making this change. In my opinion, precursors should be the first thing you get, which then starts your “quest” for a legendary.

On the other hand, i am fine with the Mystic Clover RNG. Obviously for the component called the “Gift of Fortune” there should be luck involved. It is also something which you can see progress, if you use the 1 clover recipe and approach the forge with enough ingredients for 10 shots, you will see PROGRESS, this is what is lacking the the precursor grind, for that you just keep burning money. It helps to look at the clover aspect as a single component costing 250 ectos, 250 mystic coins, 200 skill points and 500k karma, and use the 1 recipe so it will be far more likely to average out.

1) RANDOMLY get rares from Orr or farming zone of your choice
2) Insert rares into Mystic Forge, RANDOMLY get precursor
3) Come back here and tell us you like randomness

I think the system in place is actually very effective in determining the dungeon rewards. They are called “rewards” for a reason. As in you have to earn them. I know it sucks that sometimes you have to leave unexpectedly due to real life reasons, but realistically how often does that happen. Another reason you stated above for non-completion was that a party couldn’t dodge. In my opinion that is NOT a valid reason for getting free rewards. Dungeons are almost the only place where coordination is needed, we need to keep this or what else is there?

Lets take Arah for an example. The instance is long, yes. The instance is difficult, yes. Therefore having the dungeons rewards means you have really mastered the dungeon, and know what your actually doing in the game, not button mashing like DE’s.

Continuing with the Arah example, the biggest obstacle (in most paths) is Mr Lupicus. This is one of the more difficult fights in the game for many. You also encounter him in every single path, therefore to get tokens you need to do him. That’s great. In a game with no stat progression, the only progression is skill, and dungeon rewards show that. If you remove this system, once again we will see people in Arah sets that haven’t even stepped into his arena.

Alternatively most bosses before Gigantus Lupicus are simple, if people are allowed to simply do them for tokens, no matter how long it takes them, it will cheapen and devalue those rewards for all people that have earned them.
