Why I find the game uninteresting - From a longtime Guild Wars 1 player

After that flamebait of an opening post, do you really expect people to just agree with you, and pat you on the back for “finally saying what everybody is thinking”?

Seriously, it read like you were pounding on the keyboard in a fit of rage. You’re not going to win any friends or supporters by being insulting.

While I certainly wasn’t flaming or trolling, I also wasn’t trying to make friends. I just hope the devs, or at least one of them, reads it for some perspective. Considering how dedicated they’ve been from the beginning to listening to their fanbase, I don’t think that’s so farfetched.

You mean the devs, who have spent all their time and hard work creating the game to a point it is at now, with several years of planning and preparing, are going to re-think everything when they read some shoddy quickly written 10 minute piece of writing?

Sure, they take user based constructive criticism on board, but not someone complaining that the new game they’ve been trying to make is too different from the old one. That’s the whole point.

Another ‘GW1 isn’t -insert MMO title here-. Change it’.

No. No, there are plenty of us that like GW2 for everything it is. Sure it has it’s problems, but not being GW1 certainly ain’t in that list.

“I got 99 problems, but imitating past MMO’s ain’t 1.”

I dont understand these threads, if the game is not what you want then you have a few choices:

a) stop playing and move onto something new
b) carry on playing until the game is a least 6 months old and see how it evolves before making any decision
c) play the game like it was designed to be played without being under the impression that it is a replacement for your favourite game of all time

GW2 is GW2 it is not WOW, DOAC etc, if I wanted it to be like these games then I would not have bought it I would have bought these games instead including all the issues they have.

Another “PLAY THE GAME LIKE IT IS OR GO AWAY!”-post. Unconstructive. User-feedback is what makes good games. Get real.

“HOW DARE YOU CRITICIZE THIS GAME!!!” lol

You already said you were leaving the game anyway, so why do we care?

If you’re invested in making this game better, then don’t throw your conflicting ideas all over the place. You either don’t like what is on offer and are going back to your previous games, or you see the potential and want to invest in helping make a possibly brighter future for a game you’re going to continue playing.

And if people can’t handle it, they can just log on their other toon in the regular servers.

Using this mentality;

If YOU don’t like it, go log into a game where you can do this.

Gendarran Fields / Human Leveling

Dagok – Yeah, I’ve been doing all that too, but still no luck… Maybe I’m not crafting enough?

Jwalker – I haven’t yet, however that is my next plan of action. I just don’t see why I should be going there? If this area claims to get me to level 35, why am I stuck at level 32 with nothing to do other then wait for dynamic events? O.o

I’m probably making a mountain out of a molehill, I’m aware I can just go to somewhere else quickly. I just feel like the level statements for each zone should be altered slightly to reflect their actual range.

Is anyone else having a little bit of trouble with keeping up with the levels in these areas?

Gendarran Fields boasts to be a level 25 – 35 area, however after completing the Kessex Hills area at level 24, I’m now sitting at level 32, with full map completion, and a little bit lost without going to another starting area.

I didn’t seem to have this problem with my Sylvari, who was regularly several levels over the area requirements.

Is it just me? I’m taking part in pretty much all the dynamic events, but I can’t seem to keep my human characters up when it comes to their levels.

- Make incoherent point.
- Admit to it being incoherent.
- Immediately break argument by saying you’ll do the opposite of your incoherent point.
- Post picture that seemingly has nothing to do with incoherent point.

Not trying to troll, I’m sure there’s a logical argument in there somewhere, but that’s all I got from this thread.

Why is Anet closing any discussions about Botting?

There is no such thing as free speech on a privately owned forum.

This, actually, sums up an answer to your quote better.

The agreement you signed and adhered to when joining the forums has a set of rules in, which opt you out of the whole ‘free speech’ thing. Not in any negative ways, but in ways that will allow AN’s forums to prosper.

Wortermelon – what you are talking about is called denial of free speech, you know that, right? Following the same logic – no one should ever discuss any negative topics (such as murder), since someone might decide to go out and start killing people. Lets not talk about anything other than candy and rainbows!

On the other hand – us discussing botting here won’t really change anything. There is already a ‘report’ button on your Mail tab, use that instead. Though I am frustrated with the fact that I get a ton of mail daily and it’s ALL spam with gold sells. That really sucks, I always hope it’s a lost friend from the past or smth.

Wrong, actually. I’m pretty sure their terms and conditions forbids the talking of third party software to manipulate the game. Since we all agreed to that (or you wouldn’t be posting here) you’re not allowed to talk about it.

Then you report them, using the report function. That’s what it’s there for, after all, and despite what people may think, there will be a heavy team behind keeping the game clear of such players. They announced a little while ago that they had banned a large number of bots, due to peoples reports.

Not really… If you openly let people discuss botting then it’ll give a fair few people the impression AN okay with it, and those people will have a reason to think like that

There’s no middle ground in situations like this. If you’re not going to allow botting, then you make sure it’s nowhere to be found on your own site.

This will probably get closed as well but the most logical answer is that people seeing and actively discussing about botting will more likely get them involved in it. By closing the discussion off and not letting them happen shows that they don’t take it lightly.

And I support that 100%!

Yup, you can purchase extra character slots for… I think it’s 800 gems per slot in the Gem Store.

Any huge sea creatures?

Hi all,

Slightly random question, however I had a Phobia of sharks. I’m talking proper huge phobia of them, and most of huge sea creatures. Swimming through Lions Arch had my heart racing alone the lower I went, not to mention when I saw the Humpback Whale.

So, are there any huge sea creatures in this game I should be made aware of? When WoW released Cataclysm I had no idea about the HUGE whales until I turned around and one was literally swimming towards me and I almost cried.

So… yeah. Saddest thread of the day achievement to me, woop!
