Currently when ever a player dies in the standard numbered hotjoin servers (Server 001 etc.) they endure a 20s respawn timer. This is expected if the server was supposed to use the setting “Respawn Type: Individual”.
However, For the standard numbered hotjoin servers the server settings specify a “Respawn Type: Wave” which means every 20s all dead players should respawn at the same time. But this is not happening.
This is the way it used to be. I don’t know if this change is intentional but if it is the server settings should reflect it.
That being said I think it is helping to contribute to the increasing number of hotjoin matches that are one sided (point spreads in the 300s to 400s). I’ve been playing since beta and these matches certainly feel more common that they used to. It feels like the team with less players is being killed by the zerging team and then individually respawning to “trickle feed” them. Of course there are other issues that contribute to this as well (coaxing autobalance, etc.) but thats not necessarily what this post is about.
I think that hotjoin is important for new players to enter into the community and right now they are just seeing these uneven matches, mistaking it for poor balance, getting frustrated, and leaving.
Having an instant cast for Litany of Wrath could possibly save the skill. That way you could pop it, say, in the middle of Whirling Wrath and actually gain a little more life from damage when you actually need it. As it is right now, for dps builds, Shelter is far better than Litany of Wrath and it doesn’t even feel like there is a choice as far as healing skills go. The heal even when traited is much to low to warrant a 1 second cast time or even any cast time at all (since you can’t use it reactionary, as it seems designed to be used that way) – it heals for less than merciful intervention…
As stated previously, there are other instant cast heal skills so i do not understand why this heal skill should not be an instant cast.
Note: I am speaking from a WvW/PvP perspective.
