@RoninDB.9540 There were a few times last night on the TC borderlands that culling was a major issue, most notably the garrison siege that played out over most of the night. Framerates were bad, culling was bad, it was a difficult situation for both sides.

Feel lucky if you have not experienced culling up to this point.

I understand you dont want the thread to devolve but you have allready taken it to that level. Throwing insults and then saying lets be civil doesnt fly. Per haps if you had been more civil in the first place we would still be there to help.

There is something of a split claim of leadership then. Because another very cordial individual spoke to me about your guild, how he wanted to clear up misconception and speak with me and some other people, etc. And best of all, he was pretty darn nice about it.

So, forgive me if I would rather take his reasoned discussion over your, I will say, wounded ego. The only thing I’ve said is that the guild has gain a reputation (largely due, I think to your previous guild leader more than anything else; most of the folks in your guild are nice enough) and that there is a trend towards migration.

Nothing more, nothing less. We can talk about that, if you want but you’re going to have to meet me halfway here if we do. The bottom line is that there’s been a lot of jumping. And to my understanding through conversation with other members of your guild not only was the TC bridge burned but there was some issues with SoS as well.

If I have been misinformed, let me know. If not, then there’s not really much more to say, is there? Besides good luck.

Yes,, There was alot of moving and Akadios did burn bridges along the way and my members have suffered for it. As to why Akadios did those things on TC and SoS I cannot and will not speculate. I have done and will continue to do everything in my power to defend my guild and my friends. I am sorry that everyone seems to think this is one guilds fault.

As to who you spoke with that may have been any number of my officers, as several of them are very concerned with ending the animocity and simply playing the game. I do find it fascinating that most of this thread has been a negative spew agaist Defiance, yet there were four other guilds assighned to the TC Borderland. I know we were all fighting at the garrison and still we are the targets of malice.

I do hope the people involved can move on, SoR is our home now and we will defend it.

Lastly I never have a problem with a rational discussion, however i’m not going to stand by while individuals slander people who are my friends and despite what is being said don’t cheat or exploit. That will always be met with the same lack of tact it is presented with.

In one day and tossing in the towel? Twinbros, you’re so surprising. Wait, that’s a lie. I’m still gonna fight. Might not be the prettiest fight but whatever. I got siege and people to shoot so I’m happy.

As for Defiance, they’ve pretty much earned their tag. RUN. To where? If Ruin is the guild people point when it comes to general bad form, Defiance has long since earned the reputation for flocking one a whim.

That’s my first and only comment on that because I don’t want this thread to devolve. We’ve had good threads before. Last week, we stumbled. Let’s not again.

I took over Defiance(RUN) after the move to SoR, I make no bones about our past. I do enjoy the fact that TC is the server that cries every time we fight. I fail to see the arguement about night capping, Anet has allready stated it’s not going to change. Either get over it, Get on a server with a night pop or get some night guilds working. I also would like to ask how you support waging warfare when you lose every upgrade and piece of siege equipment every day.

i’m not trolling but this is a major concern……

Thank you arenanet, you say night capping is ok because you respect all players time. yet here we are watching hackers capture orbs on all three maps and all six of the alters broken and unusable. Thanks for respecting our time and at least responding to this issue. Nice to see you value the Oceanic players time but not the NA players time.

I disagree. Siege is fine for the most part. People need to learn the curve and learn the counters.

I am well aware of the abilities of arrow carts and that currently they use some form of phasing technology to drop arrows anywhere the green circle is. wether that is three quarters down the tunnel at the lake tower, inside any of the keeps and their respective tunnels or as previously stated thru walls and gates.

As i previosly stated i have no prolem with strategy, I have a problem with broken. I also have a problem with exploits just like building seige engines in areas where they are protected and players immune. There are alot of legitimate issues going on that are unrelated to knowing counters. (most of which involve exploiting other issues)

if everyone stepped back for a second from the i win you suck mentality you might realize there are some serious issues.

I have a feeling this is Dragonbrand vs. Maguuma, in which case I was one of the players defending that keep.

We had the orb in the keep and we were quite intent on keeping it, the Dragonbrand zerg cut through the outter walls rather quickly, and a group of us barely got there in time before the inner gate was breached. Thankfully some players had thought ahead and placed arrow carts in Lord/Orb room.

This allowed us to stop the Dragonbrand zerg in it’s tracks, an advantage we desperately needed as in the early morning hours they greatly outnumber us.

To the people saying that Dragonbrand should have used counter siege: They tried, and at first many of us in the keep room were freaking out when we saw the build sites going up, but we quickly realized that the siege was near ineffective and hence not much of a threat. We managed to pot shot them dead anyway, but the arrow cart had limited range, and the catapult couldn’t hit any of our siege inside the room and was limited to just knocking those of us back that stood in the corridor/stairs.

We wiped them twice, on their third attempt they did manage to destroy the alter but not get a hold of the orb. However what’s really lame is the orb reset in our North alter and was thus easily taken by Dragonbrand, a valiant defense that proved vain in the end, though we did keep our keep.

Other than the loss of our orb there was one other thing that was bothering a lot of Maguuma defenders… a lot of Dragonbrand started attacking through the wall and were able to destroy a few of the arrow carts that way, and we had to stay away from that wall to avoid taking damage, which I believe is one of the factors that led to the alter being destroyed as it thinned out the defensive line on that side of the room.

Ok so you admit that you had them (siege weapons) inside, that you could fire out and that they could not fire in……..sounds exploity to me….

Wait, so chokepoints are now exploits? If the siege is built in a corridor, it is only going to be able to be fired pretty much straight forward (unless it is right at the edge, where it opens into the room). According to the post, it was hitting players in its path just fine. The arrow carts were in a large room where they were able to be lined around the room, pointing toward the corridor. So, the defending team used the chokepoint to their advantage. That sounds like defense, not exploits.

What’s next? I fired my spell at the enemy and he moved behind a tree and it was obstructed! EXPLOIT!

Ummm No the point is they were hitting people in the hallway and outside from inside but the reverse was not happening……..since obviously arrows dont fly thru walls and ceilings normally i would say this is an exploit……. in your rage example the tree would actually stop the spell the walls and ceiling are not.

BTW if they had ballista in there and were direct firing down the hall no issue as a matter of fact well played, but that clearly wasnt the case because we all know culling would limit the number of targets so aoe is the answer.

really if your going to argue a point get informed.

Sounds like you got destroyed in Hill keep on border lands. Mesmer portal into the room stops that strategy, or your own arrow carts firing around the corner. In the future when you get beat take some time to develop your own solution. For the most part there are counter strategies to everything in WvW.

lol i dont reside on dragonbrand or maguuma was simply pointing out what he said. go home troll.

oh and as to your comment one exploit (seige equipment inside) being beaten with another exploit (culling times) does not make it ok, cool or a strat.

Unfortunatly your fighting human nature and pvp nature which is to win. saw this last night as well we adapted our strat and blew down 3 trebs with ballista. If we had not had the high ground tho we would have been screwed.

Objective response to the OP and TO the following posts.

If the physics of the keeps were working IE solid walls, roofs, etc an arrow cart in a 20’ room would be useless. The arrows would slam into the ceilings and upper walls since arrow carts are not direct fire as we all know.
Based on this supposition either this is an exploit, IE the arrow carts were not designed to be “inside” firing thru walls and ceilings. OR the devs somehow forgot that the insides of structures need physics as well.
As far as tactics go im all for tactics as long as it doesnt involve doing something that couldnt really happen like ever.

I would guess something in the matchmaking blew up when the bumped it up to a week. On TC we are fighting a 4+ and a 2+ who decided to carebear up on a shard. however a 12+ is crazy cmon Anet end this farce and get back to 24 hr where at least we were in the correct brackets.

Hey,

Currently I feel for you, we have much the same problem. However i do not think this is a guild targeted issue per se. We did buy the commander book woohoo, it adds a squad channel, an icon for “the commander” and allows him to place one of three marks on the map……………….
He cannot see who is in the squad, nor can he remove people from the squad.

I agree there should be different books for different group sizes SGT, LT, Commander to allow dynamic gameplay. IE a 10 man SGT and his team could join a commander and have the squad chat and grp chat without having to be in a faceless zerg.

It would be easier if i just did this…..

I may be dim and all, but that doesn’t make sense to me. You were compiling video of you camping us to prove we had an alliance .. and that has what to do with server transfers?

Correction it was happening on one shard maguuma borderlands and yes we will get the screens and video up shortly so the guilds can be identified. God i Love this game Espionage, warfare, sexy women……..it just gets better every day.

if we were smart enough to enter into an alliance with them .. we’d have been smart enough not to take their orb too.

EDIT : and if there is one thing ive learned in life, it’s don’t ally with Goon Squad.

There was no alliance between Maguuma and DB .. we were even camping their spawn for 20 mins or so, right before we turned our attention on your orb. Sorry to dissapoint you. The DB guilds in TC that night has a plan, and it worked. It’s been typical zerg chaos for the most part, since.

I don’t think other than a format change (WvW) that it could be done either. I understand that technically it’s completely legal, but i find it humerous that people say 2 sided fights are boring despite that being exactly whats being done.
A quick drop onto the server this morning shows a two sided fight on all battle grounds with points equally balanced between two servers……

anyway i said my two cents plus a bit more I just hope this isn’t the trend but based on reading it is.

How do you intend ANet “fix it”? By limiting how many points each side can capture? What if 1 side is so overwhelming powerful they can sweep TWO servers and own everything? Will they be limited to owning 1/3 (or more cos equal capture points would end in equal results) of all maps? Rather than complain about it, I suggest giving ANet some ideas of how to fix it.

It is hard to post suggestions on how to fix human nature. As a representative of the number one server in the game i would have hoped you might have said “we never do this and find it intolerable” or something like that. However what we get is preaching from the number one server and i would assume a large alliance that probabally does this as well.
As i said a fix for human nature (which by the way is to win / succeed) is hard, my point was that almost all people complain that a 2 sided fight is boring and would destroy WvW. However that is exactly what they are doing is creating a 2 sided fight with lopsided teams and guess what the outmanned buff does’nt come into play because the “teams” are even. I can speak to my PvP experiance which goes back to shadowbane and i have never seen a PVPer who wanted a fair fight. They want advantage wether it be numbers, build, equipmet whatever. since supposedly build and equipment are minor influences i guess the solution would be numbers. since there appear to be a great number of server alliances my suggestion would be WvW 2 servers, thats what is happening now so give them what they want 2 sided battles.

Lets see that solves numbers, equipment and builds……..cool beans

And yes as a pvper i seek to gain any advantage i can, however i dont have to play two of the three positions to win.

In my opinion the only time that anyone can safely say they are being teamed up on is if they are already losing and still being constantly attacked. If you are ahead in points or even in potential point gain, you are going to be attacked constantly until things balance out…that’s just how it works, that’s how it is actually supposed to work. All this talk of servers teaming up on the underdogs though, that’s just kind of sad to be honest, and if you really need that kind of advantage well then go for it I guess, whatever makes you feel good about yourself lol.

Wonderfull you obviously have a good grasp of nothing……..this was not a lead isssue this was not a superiority issue. This WAS removal of a server from the WvWvW feild. So the other two teams could play WvW cause we know two teams is boring right……right isn’t that what everyone said two teams is boring……..yeah your right one 320 man team vs 160 is boring and stupid. Fix it Anet or continue to bleed players onto higher pop servers until your ladder system is a nonexistant ghost.
Furthermore it is sad to think that in the A bracket there would have to be Treatys and alliances for servers to stand on their own.
I understand WvWvW but thats not happening what your getting is 320 vs 160 i could post scores and screenshots but apparently this is how the GREAT PvPers play. Typical johnson waving “cry some more noob we’re leet” your not really your just double teaming a server. If this is HOW ITS DONE i see this game dying in short order.

Just for reference this is not a single server issue or a single thread issue…..
