I changed everything and can now see other players. Thanks everyone. Felt odd playing GW2 with only humans… -_-

When did this change take place? I’ve been off of GW2 for about 3-4 months and prior to this issue I didn’t have anything like that happening.

Also I haven’t changed my settings for the game in 3-4 months.

I am running across an issue where all Norns except me are all human based models and have a default armor skin. Some do, some don’t.

Is there a fix to this? My fiancee who is playing a Norn as well in the same room, same IP, etc is not having this problem. Do I just have a bugged client? Earlier today this issue wasn’t happening.

I’ve narrowed this down to GUI issues. This usually happens upon Zoning, but can happen between Cutscenes as well. I’ve tried altering this problem by lowering the graphics to “Best Performance” and then back up to my default which is “Best Appearance”.

I’m fed up with this issue.

Give me the C++ coding for the GUI and I’ll push a hotfix out for it myself.
Only thing I will want for this hotfix, is for people to use dropbox when they get the error.

This has happened multiple times in the past 48 hours and has recently started acting up out of nowhere.

I’ve done EVERYTHING you can think of on my end.

Just to give you a better understanding, here is a list of what I have done:
- Powercycled Modem/Router
- Powercycled PC
- Registry Defragged
- HD Defragged
- Virus Scan (Malwarebytes, AVG, ASC)
- Malware Removal (Malwarebytes, ASC)
- DX Update Check
- Driver Update Check
- System Load Stress Test (Not even close)
- Dump Check (Nothing on my end pops up)
- Syntax Check (No scripting being done via other programs Keyloggers, etc)
- Rogue Check (No Rogues found on PC)
- Firewall Check (Ports for GW2 Opened and properly sending data)
- Registry Check (Clean, no issues)
- Checkdisk Ran (No Errors)

Any plausible answers that don’t involve my side? Clearly this isin’t my side unless it is a corrupt client file. In which case, this should have came up as an error in 1 of the 14 Corruption Checks that had ran in the past 48 hours. And yes I kept count after the second time it happened.

This is making GW2 UN-PLAYABLE. I don’t sit on for 14+ hours a day. I play 4-6 at maximum. PLEASE HELP!

I’ve got a level 56 Charr Warrior trying to finish out the personal quest.

Problems:
- Game continues to crash even after the game “Checks and Restores” corrupt files.
- This has not happened on any of my other characters.
- Lore is not able to be finished due to the fact that I cannot complete this quest.

Multiple crash logs have been sent. No resolve yet.

Any help?

Suggestions I don’t need/want:
- Powercycle your modem
- Restart your computer
- Run a virus scan
- Check for malware
- Check for cookies
- Send an error report
- Check your firewall
- Check Direct x “Version Number”
- Check Drivers for Updates

Why do I not want those? I have done all of them. I’ve even fully Defragmented my computer, as well as registry defrag’d.

Really starting to get irritating every time I try it (Even after waiting a day) i still can’t play the game the way I want to play it.

Turrets - The Buff 'A-Net" Wants us to HAVE!

Thank you all for the support and feedback. This all really helps this case. If we want A-Net to do something about this, we need to refer more Engineers who want to help themselves.

have you even used turrets before ? if so you should know turrets do NOT have critical hit chance and their damage is fixed and mediocre highest being rocket turret for around 800ish and 1000+ burn with the long burning if it isnt cleansed turrets are also immobile and have slow rate of fire and the massive cooldowns are just plain stupid oh yes lets look at our Elite turret the Mortar … grenades far outranges outdamages and outperfoms applying conditions rendering it useless

I would like to keep this topic on Turrets Exclusively. Not Nade Kit.
Turrets do have a Fixed Precision. That is determined with a bonus on your characters Precision.

Either RNG has blessed me when I tested this, or Precision from the character does affect Turrets.

Factored Precision Spreadsheet:

  • Turret Precision = “Turret Precision x (.25 x Player Precision) + Random Variables (Mob Toughness, Turret Power, Turret Critical Damage Modifier)

LETS GIVE THEM SOMETHING TO TALK ABOUT!

Hey there!

I played this game from launch to a few months after that – absolutely loved the concept and gameplay of the Engineer, but after hitting the level cap it quickly became apparent that Engineers were seriously lacking compared to other classes – it took flawless performance with an engineer just to get on level playing ground with an ‘average’ player of most other classes.

To be completely honest, when I started playing GW2, I looked at the Engineer and drooled with excitement. The thought of using TURRETS! Oh my…. GAWD!

Not too far into the game, I had realized that the thing I thought of Instantly when I thought of Engineer fell, needless to say, short, from what I planned on expecting from a game that was amazing in its early form.

The Build below could be ridiculously stupid, assuming A-Net finally wanted us to use the Turrets they so “Desperately” want us to use, and gave them a buff. I’m not asking for a class wide morph, nor a huge class wide buff. Just the Turrets. And even then, the Talents regarding the Turrets.

http://www.guildhead.com/skill-calc#mcMzM9Mz0omxLMmmxLM0xx0aVkqcabV

Scratch that. I’m not asking. I’m telling. Turrets need a buff if you want us to seriously use them.

Lets refer to the Rangers Pet vs Necromancer Minions vs Turret Throughput.
Turret Stats:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Turret#Health

Ranger Pets:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Pet

Necromancer Minions:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Minion

Time to factor things out. Highest HP/Defense First from all 3.

Thumper Turret:

  • Power: 30% Character Power
  • Precision: 25% Character Precision
  • Condition Dmg: 18% Character Cond Dmg
  • Toughness: 10% Character Toughness
  • HP Value: 11950 Maximum HP
(Effective Turret HP without Player Healing: Around 12-15k HP)
(Turrets all loaded this way. Only effective change on them is HP Value per specific Turret. Power, Precision, Condition Damage, and Toughness all stay the same. Only change would be from Talents.)

Juvenile Black Bear:

  • Power: 1,374
  • Precision: 1,374
  • Toughness: 1,374
  • Vitality: 4,122
(Effective HP of the Bear w/o Player Healing: Around 40-50k HP)

Shadow Fiend:

  • Power: 1,374
  • Precision: 1,374
  • Toughness: 2,748
  • Vitality: 2,748
(Effective HP of Shadow Fiend w/o Player Healing: Around 20-35k HP)

Time to grind this glory into the horrid talents that A-Net thinks we should use.
Turret Talents (Re-Vamped)
Inventions:
III – Metal Plating – Reduces Damage dealt to Turrets by 50% and reduces AoE Damage dealt to turrets by 30%. (50% Stacks onto the 30% AoE giving 80% AoE Damage Reduction)
X – Autotool Installation – Turrets are self-repairing. (Turrets will have a passive effect that heals 30% of their health every 10 seconds.)
XII – Rifled Turret Barrels – Turrets deal 30% more damage and have a longer attack range. (Attack Range increased by 30% instead of 10%)

Through those main changes, the “Turrets” would be more viable than they are now. Not making the Turrets completely overpowered, yet giving them an edge compared to other equal talents in corresponding Profession Trees.

Turrets (Re-Vamped)
Flame Turret - Deploy a turret that burns foes.

  • Cast Time: ½ s
  • Recharge Time: 25 s
  • Damage: 187
  • Burning: 3 s (984 damage)
  • Turret attack range: 500

Healing Turret - Deploys a turret that heals you briefly, then regenerates you and your allies.

  • Cast Time: ½ s
  • Recharge Time: 20 s
  • Healing: 2,850 (?)?
  • Regeneration: 3 s (390 health)
  • Radius: 500

Net Turret - Build a net turret that immobilizes nearby foes.

  • Cast Time: ½ s
  • Recharge Time: 30 s
  • Immobilized: 3 s
  • Net range: 600
  • Rate of fire: 8 s

Rifle Turret - Build a rifle turret that shoots at foes.

  • Cast Time: ½ s
  • Recharge Time: 20 s
  • Damage: 378
  • Rate of fire: 2 s
  • Maximum range: 1,000

Harpoon Turret - Build a harpoon turret that shoots at foes.

  • Cast Time: ½ s
  • Recharge Time: 20 s
  • Damage: 600
  • Rate of fire: 2 s
  • Maximum range: 1,000

Rocket Turret - Build a turret that fires rockets.

  • Cast Time: ½ s
  • Recharge Time: 40 s
  • Damage: 854
  • Burning: 3 s (984 damage)
  • Rocket range: 1,200
  • Rate of fire: 3 s
  • Radius: 220

Thumper Turret - Build a high-health thumper turret that damages nearby foes.

  • Cast Time: ½ s
  • Recharge Time: 40 s
  • Damage: 346
  • Crippled: 3 s
  • Rate of fire: 2 s
  • Radius: 220

The modifications listed above seem fair with previous Talents that were listed for changes. Not overpowered on spreadsheets. Not tested in practice.

Try also checking the power supply. It could be not putting out the starting power it needs. Test wall and the actual PC Power Supply.

Back on that topic, have you been getting BSOD’s? And if so, do you have the DUMP file?

If so, post it. We’ll see what we can do.

Area of Effect Ring Graphic: Discussion

in Suggestions

Posted by: Xinterp.5368

Xinterp.5368

Glad you made it to this thread. I am not sure if there is such a way to either increase or decrease the brightness of such things, but just as the topic says, Area of Effect Ring Graphic.

Personally, I am a colorblind player. Certain hues of colors mesh together and I can’t seem to distinguish if there is or isin’t a giant red circle on the ground that I need to move out of at times. And sometimes when I finally decipher that… Yes I need to move now… Death Oops. Too late.

I am not begging for mercy, or using this as a “Fix it PLEASE” montage, but I have looked on that thing called the interwebs and realized that, I am not the only one who wants some control over these things. Every MMO Game I have played in the past and left from (WoW Since Beta, SWTOR, SC2, Rift, etc… Yes I am a Blizzard baby… Deal with it) had some form of AoE Graphic Control. Whether this would be increasing the Particle Density (Harder on GPU) or adjusting the Brightness of Particle Density (Less Intensive on GPU), there was some form of doing this.

I would love to see something similar implemented in this game. Only a little bit different. There are others complaining on the internet about some of the same issues, but they would like to NOT see the White rings as they cloud a players judgement (aka: Red Rings being too… well… dark… Not enough brightness).

I am not asking A-Net to cater specifically to my needs. In fact, I love the game, and personally don’t plan on going back to any other MMO simply because of the innovative design. But I am asking, not just for myself, but other gamers who have the same difficulty, to give us some control for those evil rings that we can’t distinguish at times.

Please with sugar on top?

How do equipped weapons affect kits?

in Engineer

Posted by: Xinterp.5368

Xinterp.5368

Simply put, Kits will always, ALWAYS be weaker than an actual weapon. Why? Because they are coded wrong. Simply put the attack stat is not as powerful. Every other stat carries over, but it still gives the same result when you put on a kit. It doesn’t matter if you are P/S ing, P/P ing, or R ing. Your stats when using a kit will be lower. Check the image if you don’t believe me. I just checked every kit. I may not be wearing the best gear, but when every kit comes up with a lower ATTACK than my weapon does (which makes no sense if the kits are based on the actual “best obtainable weapon” stats), my current Attack Stat loss is 236. When I equip a kit, I lose 236 Attack. All of my other stats stay the same, just not my kit’s…

Hope this helped.

Flamethrower balance feedback for devs.

in Engineer

I agree with the suggestions made thus far on the FT. But as everyone knows, we all have our own thoughts.

*FT#1: Increasing Range – Now this is a touchy topic because of the possibility that this could and more than likely will make FT king for literally everything aside from TC. I STRONGLY believe that it should get a buff on range, but not quite bumped up to 600. Along the lines of 500 seems like it is a mid/neutral zone that could drastically change the turn of the fight, but yet not give FT Eng’s the massive advantage in SPVP or WvWvW.
*FT#2: I don’t really like how this ability use gives no credible damage and waists your time to cast it. The margin of this ability is situational at best and provides no serious damage unless enemy is at max range and it explodes. In which case, it is then useful. I suggest changing this abilities ability from explosion to inflicting a 5 second burn on every target it hits, as well as increasing the cooldown to compensate for its power. Cooldown increase of say… 5 seconds?
*FT#3: This obnoxious knockback… I hate it. I never use it. Literally… NEVER. I have a bar that allows me to dodge. If I ever get put in that situation, I will just dodge instead. Safer for me to dodge rather than get hit by 5 targets while only knocking 1 of them back. I suggest revamping this so it is an AoE Knockback of 200 yards, adding a knockdown element of one second, and a burn of 1 second onto this. FT is about Flames and Smoke… Not poofs of air.
*FT#4: I agree with everything said so far in this post. Make a burning circle on the ground at the players feet with a 300 radius. Nuff said there. This would stop the hassle of moving your mouse to cast when you already have to constantly keep right clicking the target to keep your #1 ability on the target. Less hassle, more gameplaying, better party support.
*FT#5: Clean cut and simple as someone before me said, increase range to 240.

Now onto that little toolbelt skill that is a hog of a useful toolbelt slot. I say instead of making this a shorter cooldown, just make it an instant attack ability. Dealing damage equal to your normal weapon damage that a player would normally do, and add a 5 second burn to it. Simple, worthwhile, and most definitely not a “Meh… I wish this was better… Don’t want to really use it…” skill.

The "Inspect Gear" Discussion.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Xinterp.5368

This should not be implemented as it will result in “elitist” behaviour with any sort of group activity and encourage discrimination against sections of the community who do not have the “expected” setup.

As an example someone might want to speed run dungeons, and have it in their mind that only people setup for DPS can do speed runs efficiently so will start inspecting anyone who wants to join the party to see if they have a class cannon build or not, and remove anyone who does not.

Also, how far do you take a system like this, just armour, jewels, weapons, what about traits and skills? Implementing a partial inspect system will result in some vocal members wanting more information from the inspection.

Guild Wars 2 is about, using ArenaNet’s own mantra, playing the game the way you want, this include armour setup, weapons, jewels, traits and skills. Allowing an inspection tool would ultimately result in a reduction of variety in player builds as people will standardise their builds to what groups expect them to have.

I agree strongly with this post. STRONGLY.

Right now my engineer is pushing a Flamethrower Control Burst DPS build. My gear at 75 is hodge podge, but the way the player plays with the gear (in my case I can compete with a 75 Guardian DPS wise, and outlast them Survivability wise.) makes a HUGE difference. You could get someone who has all the BEST gear in the world and the GREATEST spec in the world, but in the long run, what if they are a friend playing at the Account Owners House just testing out a dungeon seeing if they want to purchase the game or not? They don’t KNOW HOW TO PLAY that class, when they should swap weapons, what weapons to use, what secondary skills to use, when to use their Elite Skill, when to use their F Skills, or even the correct way to avoid massive mob mechanics.

If I can avoid Massive Mob Attacks, AoE Mob Attacks, Use my heal skill correctly (F1 and #6 or R in my case), time Burst Attacks Correctly, add Debuffs to Mobs when they need more debuffs (Vulnerability stacks, Permanent Burn, Permanent Bleed if all done correctly), does this not make my party stronger because they are spending more time killing mobs rather than rezzing an ally?

TLDR: It should not be implemented. Player gear does not reflect skill. Player spec does not reflect player skill. Player skill reflects player skill.

Getting reported for false racism?

From what I understand listed in the picture below, the offended player (not me) must have had their “Profanity Filter” turned on. After said player made the statement that they were “Black” (which I don’t fully understand because I wasn’t calling this person the word we all know and don’t say) and to leave them alone, I had.

But my question is this:

If a player is impeding on your progress to complete a Group Event or a Regular Event or anything player related to any said player, or in other words, harassing a player (or group of players, etc…), how do I get slapped with the “Reported” card and not them?

Clearly in the image I have posted which was taken with “Fraps” (Timestamp on image file) I got aggravated and gave a player a “You do it, it must be fine for me to do it too” response (Obviously not as nicely put since the player did it for more than one Egg Gather which can easily be done by any level 2 with white gear soloing). I just don’t quite understand… At this point I am assuming he/she has Profanity Filter on and doesn’t realize what I have just said, nor does the player realize that I was giving a firm “Cut it out NOW” response.

Just need some clarification on this subject. Thanks much.
